I’m so glad two of you are not Calvinists. I suppose it’s okay that one of you is. I’m also so glad you have biblical egalitarians on your show. I wish at least one of you were an egalitarian. I’m thankful none of you are cessationists. You all are doing a great job and I love Remnant Radio. ❤️

Hey guys, love the show. I’m one of those Pentecostals you referred to when talking about tongues. I just want to say that every person in my house has spoken in tongues and almost everyone in my church speaks in tongues. My daughters received the Holy Spirit with the evidence of tongues at the age of 8 and 9. And we’re both baptized right after. I can easily pray in tongues when I pray. But I’ve also been used in the gift of tongues and interpretation. There’s a difference when you give a message in tongues that is meant to be interpreted. This happens when in a church setting or group setting. But I can pray in tongues regularly.

Great show guys, just like to comment on tongues: saying yes to both on the question temporal and residential gifts( which I totally agree on). Makes moot the discussion on prayer language, even if you consider praying in tongues in private prayer times without necessitating interpretation ( again which I agree with) the same gift which requires interpretation in a public setting, it’s essentially making it another facet of the tongue gift. If you believe that any one born again can access the gifts in needed moments as the spirit wills, (again total agreement) then all have access to one or both facets of the gift of tongues

Hey guys! Appreciate y'all's show more than you know! A new friend and I were talking recently, and he asked if I've ever heard of the podcast, "Remnant Radio".. I flipped out that someone else knew about Josh and the Michaels too! Go Remnant Radio! Hahah
Josh, you had mentioned something about Augustine NOT being the first to introduce Calvinistic theology. Really? Or maybe you were refering just to limited atonement? Either way, I would love to see a video more on that subject! Dr. Ken Wilison has written extensive work on Augustine and the early church father that I find compelling. Many leading respected Calvinists themselves (RC Sproul, Robert Peterson, Michael Williams, Luis Berkhof, Loraine Boettner [who popularized the acrostic "TULIP"], Herman Bavinck, and so many more I've read) and Calvin himself accredit Augustine as the FIRST to present what is now known as "Augustinian-Calvinism" theology. They claimed also that the earlier church fathers prior to Augustine spoke of libertarian free will, painting Augustine as novel-- first of his kind when it came to this type of theological interpretation.
How cool if yall could get Dr. Ken Wilson on the show as a guest and talk more on this topic!! PLEASE!!! That would be dope!

There is a difference between the gift of tongues for interpretation and general tongues when praying. One is used for personal edification and the other is used for the edification of the body.

Does Roundtree affirm double predestination? I think that is the heart of what people are after when they ask the question about Exhaustive Devine Determinism. It also has implications as to the origin of evil but most people don't get that far down the rabbit hole.

I often wonder if the gatherings of Believers looked a lot different in the earliest churches than what we see now. I envision the Believers meeting only in homes, and not with a kind of organized 'service'. I see them praying in small groups, then in the larger group. I see them having words of knowledge/wisdom/prophesy with whomever they are praying with, and also the larger group. I see a few people praying for someone who needs healing.
I see them worshipping, individually, as well as together. I can see, as they all pray as a larger group, someone having a word in tongues that someone else interprets. As they are praying and worshipping, they also pray in their prayer language/tongues. I see someone having a teaching that Holy Spirit gives them. I don't think they had a 'worship-team'. I think more than one person taught.
I think us moderns still tend to filter their experience with what there is now. Dr Heiser, I believe, would caution us against this. (Hope it's ok to say that.)

I wish I could have submitted this question in time: When praying for healing, it is clear to me that we can ask the Father in Jesus name for His healing. What do you guys believe and teach in regard to "commanding" healing over people in the name of Jesus? Example: I command this knee to be healed in the name of Jesus. Do you practice this approach as well? Thank you

Just a question to riff off of the question about when to have a child participate in ‘communion’
Since the Lords supper is a reapplication of the Passover meal, and the Passover meal is done as a family, wouldn’t that transfer over?
The Passover is done for the explicit purpose of telling the younger generations of God’s brining Israel out of Egypt-
-so by continuation, shouldn’t children be present and brought into the Lords supper to continue the repurposed tradition as a new Israel?

Well here’s the issue, not being a Calvinist is as simple as disagreeing with irresistible grace. So one can really sound like a Calvinist, especially when speaking about total depravity and our need for God’s Grace to work in our heart, which Arminian’s believe as well, and still not be a Calvinist because they don’t hold to 1 or 2 of the points

44:09 I agree hyper charismatics are dangerous but so are hyper Calvinist’s or even hyper reformed Calvinists. Eternal security combined with total predestination combined with Pharisee like ritualistic behavior sounds bad to me.
Imo they should both be in the same camp. Don’t hate the believer hate the bad ideas.

21:00 Pelagianism is a heterodox Christian theological position that holds that the original sin did not taint human nature and that humans by divine grace have free will to achieve human perfection.
Our fallen nature is tainted, but we can't be truly changed without the Holy Spirit, which we receive when we have turned to God with a genuinely repentant heart. Having recognized our fallen nature after hearing the Gospel. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
In scripture, it says the work of God is to believe in the one in whom He sent. (Jesus Christ)

In all seriousness your perceptions stop at what's comfortable to you. Hence a fabricated picture of your reality. The only examples we see in acts of people being filled with the spirit all show external signs and the common sign is tongues. Acts 2 we see tongues. Acts 8 we believe there was a noticeable sign, acts 10 they spoke in tongues and that’s the reason why Peter knew they received the same spirit. Act 19 they spoke in tongues. We see this as a pattern. We don’t see the pattern of what I assume you believe salvation looks like. Main stream Christianity would say that a person who repents and is baptized is born again but in acts 8 we clearly see that’s not the case. The samaritans believed the word preached and were baptized yet they did not receive the Holy Spirit until after the apostles laid hands on them. And although it does t say what exactly happened we do know that there was clear evidence that they received the spirit. I thought o was wrong for some time but acts 8 kept me in the Pentecostal faith.

  • @biteme1659

If you went back to the mesapotamia scripts you would understand what led up to the execution of Jesus and why. Right now your just three blind mice that GOD hadn't touched. To know GOD truly is a journey into true self awareness and those too weak to understand but tout understanding in turn dehumanize his creations. Nothing is hidden it's all accessable for now. I'd hurry before the evil suppresses it even more.

I’m sorry but that explanation of libertarian free will was absolutely terrible. No non-Calvinist would say that we can come to God without him. Libertarian freedom is simply the ability to choose between options. Jesus came and revealed God and offered Salvatore to all men. The impetus is on you to choose that revealed salvation or, to continue in Adam.

    • @michaelrowntree2005

Iron Lion, I re-listened and agree it was a poor articulation. I should have said that under Ariminianism, it is believed that God restores libertarian free will by prevenient grace. I am obviously not Arminian, but I do find that to be a theologically acceptable position (unlike Pelagianism) bc it upholds that our will needs a prior work of grace in order to choose Christ. Sorry for the poor articulation, I was not trying to throw shade.
I am aware of other Soteriological positions too, but I am just addressing Arminianism bc it’s the primary alternative.
      Blessings
