Nice review. I found a copy of Flint at the free book bin at the laundry at Rio Grande Village campground at Big Bend NP. I enjoyed it - my first Louis L'Amour novel. Curiously, there is a K-Bar road in Big Bend, right near Nugent Mountain. Since Kaybar was Nancy Kerrigan's ranch and Thomas Nugent was a neighbor rancher, I'm thinking there is a connection. But, who came first?
I recently discovered Louis L’Amour for the June on the Range event. His novels are a lot of fun. I’ll snag a copy of Flint if I find a used copy. Those old covers are the best.
I am so happy that you enjoyed Flint, maybe my favorite Louis L'amour ever. And that is saying something for a the man who wrote so many great books, like The Sackett novels, the three Kilkenny books, and so many more. Including the one I am about to finish re-reading again, To Tame A Land, which was one of the few books he wrote showing how someone good with a gun can start to like using it. As always I really enjoyed your video. Thanks.
Just subscribed, I gotta tell ya man, your reviews are the best. The humor in these vids just kills me. I was mostly a non-fiction guy but you’ve got me into sci-if, fantasy, mystery and horror. I’m trying to get into the westerns, that’s a tough nut to crack for me. Keep the reviews coming brother. My only complaint is that you’re a Raiders fan. 😂 GO Steelers!!!!!!
Absolutely love these little gems. Lamour had an uncanny ability to pack such great adventures in a small amount of pages. I've been trying to get an entire vintage set of his books and at 74 books in, I've only acquired about 55-60%. Love this guy! Thanks for the review Brian.
Another author I always wanted to read. I have his LAST OF THE BREED on my shelf, after I read that it is not a western (although I love a good western), but part Rambo, part Firefox … maybe you will talk about that book soon. But I put this one on my list, unfortunately this version seems to be hard to find …
Unrelated to the topic, but just got the Forgetting Moon audiobook and paperback last week. I gotta say man I wasn't expecting it to draw me in like it did, loving it so far and I am definitely gonna read the trilogy. Also love the book recommendations, looking forward to reading Pillars of thr Earth :)
Bri, I know you love westerns. Have you tried A Congregation of Jackals by S Craig Zahler? The guy who written and directed Bone Tomahawk. I think you'll love it. I'll try Flint if you give that a go.
Keep the Louis L’Amour book reviews coming!!!
