Read it when I was 8, aside from the Sackett books, and the masterpieces Last of the Breed, and The Walking Drum. Reilly’s Luck is my absolute favorite novel.
Have to disagree with you on this one. It’s a great coming of age in the west novel, that includes most of Louis ideas of what it means to be a real man. Self Education, fitness, adaptability, confidence and of course handling your own business financially and with gun and fists. Louis does a great job bringing all the parts of Val’s life together for an exciting conclusion.
The older cover is definitely better than the updated one for this book. It's not one of my favourites, but I recall liking it and enjoying the wider scope of it. I've never heard that summary before, but it sounds fantastic haha
What a terrible review I doubt you even read the book. The only thing you got right in your review is it was about a boy who's mother didn't want other than that you missed the whole plot and chased alot of people away from a good novel. Read the book and try to do you review over
I think you missed a lot of the story with this one possibly from doing a skim read? Or maybe just too fast? Reilly’s Luck is in reference to Val, which it makes pretty clear in the book. I’m glad that you’re doing these reviews but you were pretty off on most of the plot points you discussed/as well as character motivations. This is one of L’amour’s better books and to only give it 5 stars is a little off.
