She just commented on her video that she will be rehearsing war of the worlds during the day and performing in heathers in the evening as the dates of the two shows don’t clash just the rehersals if that makes sense

Still with Carrie ? Because I'm sorry but if yes I won't be going. Her performance is way too weak/lacking and she seems bad when compared to the stunning other performers (mostly the guy playing JD : he brings something new to the character and he is giving hi all). I wouldn't have a problem with her if she was playing the lead character AND if that character wasn't a very emotional one.
Was she really that bad? I wasn't exactly fond of her (she's no Barret) but she seemed okay. The JD definitely seems like the best one yet and I'm not too fond on the Heathers as I think they're voices don't fit together that well.
I don't want to be mean but her performance reminds me of the one from "Illegal Heathers", you know that one with highschoolers that didn't want to do it ? Execpt that she's a pro and has to do the whole show with minimum quality. She's emotionless and when she's trying to act she can only do a bad angry face (and at the wrong times too !). So it's either a bad angry face or looking lost on stage.
She doesn't seem to understand who Veronica is (both musical and movie wise). She's way too focused on singing and not on acting. The worst is during "Dead Girl Walking (Reprise)" when JD has new lines to interrupt her : he asks her stop talking two times before the "I wish gown-ups understood !" which was already supposed to be more emotional along with her following lines but is now supposed to be REALLY emotional, the peek of Veronica's emotions, the last chance she's giving JD ! She can be sad, begging, angry... But what does Carrie bring ? Nothing. It's almost the same tone as the other lines just a bit louder because that's what's written in the score. And that's just an example ! "You're Welcome" (which is also different from the version in Heathers 101) is flat, like she almost doesn't care when the song was done to show Veronica's fear and how bad Kurt and Ram are. She *always* misses the point in her lines and scenes.
In short, her "Veronica" is flat, uninteresting, boring, hard to like and to relate to.
I heard that she has an understudy so I may go to the show and hope that I won't see Carrie. After all, the rest of the cast is great and, while it is a bit disappointing, the show isn't that different from the Off-Broadway version. (by disappointing I mean that it didn't correct any of its mistakes; it's funny and a bit ironic that a lot of other productions are able to do that or at least make them less noticable when the ones by the original crew (or a lot of them) can't do that).
(The Heathers are okay, the actress playing Chandler seems to do her best to have her character being more human than a cartoon villain while not losing that part of the character, Duke is doing her best at making her character good too (more complex even she's bein geven more reduced to the embodiment of the power Chandler represent : how everyone is under her and mostly bullied/belittled and how even if a Heather died another one would take her place and nothing would have changed; I do think they could have been more true to the movie and still have Duke be her own person and leading the school a tad differently/being popular in a different way and adding to her characterization BUT still representing how there'll always be a "Chandler" instead of being more direct with the message and losing a lot of opportunities to make her character more complex) and MacNamara is also trying to be meanier (even if it seems that they casted her BECAUSE she seemed nicer/"purer"/able to act like the how the fans what MacNamara to be (aka a "pure cinnamon roll who did nothing wrong") and her performance of Lifeboat is touching and new. It's still a cry for help but she made it feel different. I have no idea how to describe it but it's great.
Their voices together are nice but the videos they realized of Candy Store didn't do it justice and made it seems bad.
JD is new and good. The actor playing him is AMAZING. Miss Fleming is great as are the actors playing the other adults ("Dead Gay Sons" suddently becomes really intense : one of the dads almost shouts the first lines and it's easy to believe that it's a good moment and trust JD when he said that Kurt and Ram's deaths brought love and acceptance to Sherwood). Martha is nice and easy to like. The rest of the cast is great too !)
Does anyone know if Carrie is performing at weekend matinee's during the west end run? Or do rehearsals for WOTW mean she'll only be on for evening performances?
