love how you go into detail and spec the car for us. only youtube channel that does that. keep this style of car review please. I´m getting an etron delivered soon with the same specs as you described thank you
FYI Chris, you helped me make the choice and I did go for ETron. I can only say that many reviews are looking for a needle in a haystack and most comparisons are next to ultimate requirements. Its a car and little every day things make a difference, how the doors close, how it floats on the road, how it accelerates when overtaking... I think its a great car. Could it offer more equipment for the price, yes for sure but they don't have to, why would they hahaha... one thing I do love about it is that you do feel the road on the acceleration pedal, it gives feedback. There are no surprises in weight distribution or leaning in the corners... its a solid car, doesn't wiggle when you brake hard... does what you want it to do. Comparison, if you downgraded from a true 150,000 euro + vehicle, you might find faults, if you upgraded... hardly. The range is yet to be tested but for COVID times, more than enough for me 😂😂
I have the 55 version, pretty well loaded with equipment along with best possible seats. I love it. Can't really complain about anything except that I'd like additional 200 km range of course (who wouldn't). 19000 km so far :)
Nowadays it is hard to make decisions on EVs. There are lots of new models with lots of new features almost every month built by so many manufactures. Once you made a decision tomorrow it turns out to be the wrong one.
I really like that 4 spoke steering wheel wished Audi brought it over to the Canadian market at least E-Trons here are much cheaper! A 55 with more options to this one and only costs 99000 CAD or around 684000 NOK .
360 camera is a cute, expensive feature. However total shite in low light/ moist conditions, when you need them the most. If you're afraid of curb rash, choose smaller rims and more rubber
When adding comfort seats, I would highly recommend also adding electric adjustment of the steering column (around 3500 NOK). Then the wheel position will follow the driver profile, in addition to auto-retract when easy access for the seat is enabled. Very convenient if there are more than one driver using the car, as everything is perfectly set up for each one as soon as you open the drivers door (user profile follows the key, so you have to use separate keys for full automation).
I would not skip the Matrix headlights. And I would also choose night vision. The combination is genious in country roads on the 6 darkest months of the year. In my Etron I also have the camera side mirrors. It is a matter of taste. But after 10 months getting used to them I would miss them if I got a car with ordiary side mirrors. I also prefer the alcantara sports seats. Leather seats feels a lot colder if you come to a car that is not preheated in the winter. Alcantara feels a lot more comfortable.
@@xpost9381 The advantage of the Matrix light is that you can keep the high beams on even if you have meeting traffic. This will make driving safer both for you and for the people you meet. @@eivindhelle3985 Well ..... yeah, I know how they work. But I will differ on your assessment of matrix lights as a safety feature..... From the view of a pedestrian I would say they should be listed illegal. They are a pain to get blinded of when out walking. They don't dim for people. For me is it important to take other groups neeeds into consideration also, and not just myself or what we drivers like to do..... But sadly that seems to be less and less common today. From the view of a driver ... well... when you are driving on a road with much traffic then there are usually street lights and you don't need high beem. In more rural/remote areas with less traffic you will most of the time drive with high beem on. Let's say you drive 95% of the time with them on..... like I do..... When you realize that matrix lights are like a glow in the darkness compared to a lazer bar you will say ...no contest.... they are really giving much, much better light.... both in distance ahead of you and spreading of light to the sides. So I am not gonna trade your 5% of safety against my 95% of safety. Those lazer lights has given me 2-3 seconds of extra margin to stop ...specially with icy roads is it very needed. I drive long distance and it has saved me several times from crashing into both moose and reindeers. Specially reindeers are extremely fast. They can come like a bullet out on the road. In comparison are moose like a snail ....but still are there seriouse crashes with moose... So with the earlier spotting of the danger I have luckily avoided crashes .... but sometimes only with centimeters to spare.... and a couple of times with a bit of drama when the car span around (when standing on it's wheels) and ended up our uncontrolled "sailing" into the snowbank or the ditch.... You also talk about night vision camera. That camera has nothing with matrix lights to do. That camera would work equally well even if you - all the time - drove with low beems. I am not driving by focusing on some camera screen. I prefer to focus on the road and by direct detecting dangers..... with good light. That camera could possible be useful in those moments I have to dim for meeting cars.... but else not at all....
@@xpost9381 If I was a pedestrian I would rather be blinded by the high beams than hit by a 2.5 tonn car. If you are walking along a road with no streetlights, you are close to invisible for a driver, if there is meeting traffic. If you have night vision camera and Matrix headlights the car will both warn you about the pedestrian and also light up the side of the road where the pedestrian is walking. You don't even need to display the picture from the camera. You will get a warning in the head up display and a warning light in the instrument cluster. When driving on a road with a lot of traffic you will almost never be able to use you LED bar. On roads with very little traffic the risk of hitting pedestrians are very low. And animals will be much easier to spot with a night vision camera any way. I can see animals at 200m range with the night vision camera, and it covers a lot wider sector than you will get with a LED bar. That means that I will get an early warning of animals moving towards the road.
@@xpost9381 In UK I wouldnt have the LED bar for anything. Try using that on a motorway and you would have to have it switched off most of the time to avoid dazzling people, both those in my carriageway and those coming in the opposite direction. With the matrix beam you get full beam for the bits of the view ahead that can use it, and low beam for those parts that would dazzle somebody. So, for example, on a winding country lane following another vehicle you would have most of the forward area fully illuminated with full beam, but that part of the beam that would shine through the rear window of the car in front or fall on that car's wing mirrors are dimmed, so that driver isnt dazzled. In most cases, even though I am behind, my full beam passing on each side of the car in front illuminates further ahead than the car in front's own full beam. You would have to switch your LED bar off.
The S line gives you some interior upgrades too besides the more sporty exterior, the 'little' sunroof is not so little either and the Matrix lights also gives an upgrade in the rear and dynamic blinkers. I prefer to spend a little more to enjoy a little more. Pretty car though ;)
I had to go for the s-line trim to be able to get the car in Daytona Grey (well done Audi, well done). Car looks amazing with black optics package, luckily in my country the difference between s-line and advanced was 'only' 1300 euros and it included the fenders in bodycolor that would otherwise have costed 400 euros anyway. Currently also have the 1 month trial for the matrix-lights ... so far it doesn't look like I'm missing out on much for not having them, might change my mind the day after the trial ends and I'm back to the standard lights. The dynamic blinkers that come with it do look nice, but not 1700 euro nice :)
At night on motorways in UK the HD matrix lights areamazing. If you have the basic LED matrix lights, then I had those on my last two A6s (before the ETron). The benefit of these is best seen when you are driving on full beam because you never ever have to dip them. It isn't an 'auto dipping' system which most cars have these days in which the whole beam 'dips', it just blocks out those parts of your full beam which would dazzle other drivers, whether they are coming towards you are following them behind. If you do mostly town driving, then they not operate, but elsewhere they are phenomenal.
Not agreeing with all your points (Matrix, s-line exterior) but that should be clear to all viewers that it still is your personal opinion and they idealy should test drive the car and make up their own mind. I have chosen most of the other recommended options and some more. For example if you have a garage door to open than consider Audi build in garage door opener. Even more if you have to to open more than one, as you can save multiple remotes in the MMI and it will suggest the right one based on GPS if you wish so. Good to know is that from model year 2021 the 3 spoke steering wheels (except the flat bottom one) are compatible with the tour package. I have chosen the heated one here. And if someone is cross shopping model year 2019/20 vs 2021 be aware that the MMI unit got a “big” hardware upgrade from MIB2.5 to MIB3. Might be worth to consider as already today some options are only available on MIB3 and that will increase in the future further Having said that I really look forward to the S reviews as I have one on order and am curious how it will compare to your 55 (and the 55 I have driven). Coming back to personal tastes, my S is “only” 4.000 EUR more than my comparable 55 configuration as lots of the 55 options I wanted are standard on the S.
While on the subject of flat-bottomed steering wheel, I recommend highly that you get one! I have one, and believe me it makes a big difference when you get in and out of the car. It simply is not there to get in your way. I got one on my 2020 Q3 with sports option. I love it.
@@lduranceau8046 thanks for this observation. Probably as well depending on preference and posture. I even deactivated the electric seat recline as I fit in nicely without and did. Not like the waiting time till it reached the proper driving position again 😉
Yes, but please still test drive different optioned e-tron models, especially when deciding between expensive options. What I will always recommend are the assistant packages (Tour and City) and the isolated windows. They add to the overall experience of driving an electric Audi immensely in my opinion
Loved your very informative video. I agree the e tron is too large unless you either travel a lot or have a family. I have test driven the etron, the Jaguar I pace and the Tesla model S & 3. The etron was my favorite, but too much of a footprint. I’m waiting for the EQC to get to the USA, as well as the BMW i4. Plus, the Audi Q4 etron is hopefully happening soon...
Very informative video Kris!! If anything, it's putting me off buying an Audi, but not for the reason you think. The reason I'm being out off from the e Tron is I cannot believe how few options they give us on the configurator here in the UK!! We don't even have the option for adding the comfort seats with the ventilation, yet when I search for used e tron, some do have it. It looks like Audi decided to remove that option for the UK market, yet they have the new "special edition" sportback which comes with them as standard!! What are you doing Audi? Sort it out!!! Sorry to rant... 😄 I look forward to the e Tron s videos! Keep up the good work!
@@audivisual Yes, fo some reason Audi UK have stuck us with a series of pre-determined trim options. Gone are the days like when I ordered my first A5 and I could pick and choose anything. Having said that, the Vorsprung is great though and because all the gadgets are included in the trimm level this is reflected in the end value.
Here in Australia it's worse than the UK. There are pretty much NO options available on the e-tron. No choice of seats, interior colours, materials etc. Only option is Roof Rails, and one option pack called Premium which lumps together Matrix lights, 4-zone climate, B&O stereo, Virtual Mirrors, Ambient lighting so you have to have all-or-nothing!
I know - American Market we get 3 versions with no options for them. You want the nicest massage seats? Then your forced to get the s-line exterior and your forced to get the bigger less efficient 21" wheels - oh and its $8600 more then the Premium Plus, and all you wanted was the massage seats. But for your market the massage seat only addon is only 9,840 NOK - $1080USD. what the hell.
Hei Kris Great channel man ! I got a good deal on an etron 55 2019, with more or less all inkl. What would you say are the difference between 19 and 20-21 modell. is it worth 50-100k NOK ?
Nice walkthrough Kris. Only 23% in options and get a very special eTron. I had 40% for a Taycan, but that’s Porsche. But it’s an awesome car. I do like that flat charging curve on the eTron 55. Very impressive.
These are on my list right now because they can tow AND be a daily commuter car...SUV...or is it a car? Ether way they have incredible value used, worth the extra $$
Etron is AWD, although it can choose whether it wants to send power to the front wheels or not. The air suspension gives 'All Road' and 'OffRoad' settings and the latter invokes descent mode automatically.
Can you make a similar video for other electric cars, such as the Polestar 2? I understand it would be different since you actually own an e-tron, but still, could be nice
can someone answer me. no one replies to me on the forums. I have a new audi etron the door opens without touching the key, but I can not close it anymore - only with the key
The oringial Etron is the best option. All the sloped back versions are hideous, if you want that, then just get a sedan. Also, the best bang for the buck in the used market is absolutely the original Etron.
You seem to be missing the point of the Matrix at least in the two drive shots you showed, there's more to them like lighting up a second lane when you lane change with the indicator, and they're supposed to highlight pedestrians better, and turn down the high beam lights so they don't blind oncoming but keep the visibility up. dunno, they're not available in the US but that's how they're described. Good to know it's a software update if we ever are allowed to have them in the US.
Your right about what they do. I think Kris misses the point about them. They give an exceptionally wide field of illumination so 'steerable' beams are not needed, and their ability to spot other vehicles and block out just that part which would dazzle the other driver is amazing. I have what they call 'HD Matrix' at the time I bought it (11/20) but now in UK they seem to call them 'multiple matrix'.
Very nice! Have you checked the swedish config? We have proline and advance package to add for 85 which contains almost everything.. besides Audi phone interface, which is not std in Sweden but only for the etron... weired
This is the main reason why prospects should look more on functional side here in Chris review that the price points. In most countries some of these options will be part of a package = make them cheaper or priced differently. For example the tinted windows that I also took are not standard on any of the trim levels here in Austria 🇦🇹 . But we have some nice packaging of others
Wow! I never thought it would be possible to get such a good spec for that kind of money (you’ll need winter wheels though). Great tips! I think the Matrix lights is a must, but having them on demand is probably good enough. I would actually consider the Digital Matrix if I was to spec an e-tron now. However, that’s NOT the same hardware, so you have to buy them, and they’re insanely expensive.. 😬 I would also add the virtual cockpit, that’s a cheap option, and the tangerine brake calipers. That’s like 4500 NOK (450 EUR/USD). And lastly, what about head-up display? It’s overpriced for sure, but still..
Agree on the lights: ordered Digital Matrix on mine (most expensive option). Also in consideration that they are “digital” and therefore will experience upgrades in the future. HUD - probably would have never ordered one on any other car. But in combination of the silent drive and tour package it allows you to just keep your hand on the wheel, let the e-tron do it’s thing and see every relevant info ahead of you instead continuously checking the cockpit. Ads in my experience to the overall relaxation while driving the e-tron
in my opinion the audi equipment technique is really scummy.. the e tron is advertised to cost 599k nok, hell no! you wont get a good e tron under 850k nok. You need the 55, the 50 is pointless, just get a better specced q4 e tron.. the bare bones e tron is so poorly specced that you even get manual cloth seats and not even a reversing camera.. i have a 55 and had to get 350k nok of extra equipment to make it good enough. really pointless to buy this car and not get the extras, why not just get a cheaper vw or skoda then? its such an awsome car, so its a shame that you can get it as caveman edition, it really shouldnt be like that for the price if you do buy an e tron 55 or 60 with all the extras then its an amazing car it should come standard with this imo: -starting price should be 720k and only 55 and 60 availible -20 inch rims (the 19s are criminally horrid) -matrix leds -reversing camera (maybe even 360 as standard, as you really need to buy it for this car anyways) -standard sportsseats (nobody wants manual toyota seats in a 700k car) -double glazed windows i would most definetly recommend getting: -B&O sound system -all the assist systems -21" summers -gloss black interior buttons -headsupdisplay -4 zone climate nightvision is really nice and i use it a lot, but not worth 3k euro
Geez, I got the 360 degree camera on my 2020 Audi Q3 with sports option. Now I can't live without it. If the etron does not include it, it's a 100% ripoff. Bargain for it, and if they don't include it, walk away.
I will never pay a subscription for any prior core functions like headlights, climate controls, or even the entertainment system. This is allowing corporations to continue to turn more and more into a chargeable service/subscription just to line their pockets with more.
Thanks for a great episode! About the 4 zone clima option, is that option adding another heat-pump? Why is the description saying that you will get better range in cold temperatures than without? Is it just that you get a more efficient heating of cabin and batteries?
Good review. I would have done the website part in English and dollars or Euros instead of kroner which means nothing to most people unless you live in Sweden I guess. The annoying thing about German cars is that they charge for way too many options that should be standard.
@@donvanvliet9477 I thought only Sweden used kroner, which is actually krona, but apparently Denmark, Norway and bunch of other countries use it too (but probably print their own). en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krone
Similar here. Looking at the Q4 35 - love the styling but just wondering if the efficiency is as bad as other Audis which is going to mean the range could be well under 300km
Why is the E-tron so popular in Norway? In Hungary, where i from the stat president has an E-Tron as official car! In Hungary Audi E-tron has more respect than Tesla!
Who drives more than two hours without stopping to a) have a comfort break/snack and b) charge the drive battery? The normality of choosing between BEV expressed by Kris in this analysis is so Norwegian.
Jaguar is arguably even uglier than the Teslas. I dont get why electric cars have to look like these ugly spaceships... seriously, car makers, just make regular looking cars that are electric!
The Audi e-tron 55 has a winter range of 320 km, tested in Scandinavia. That is a joke of a range. Useless! All electrical cars with a winter range less than 850 km is a joke.
When I need advice about wether or not I want the biggest car in it's range I will ask my wife for advice. The first 5mins of your video you're only saying 'this is the biggest car, are you sure you need it'..? Worthless video, sorry.
Paying to 'turn on' hardware the car already has fitted, like the matrix LED headlamps.....that's modern day madness. You've already paid for the damn things!
Not one word about quality? I love my Audi, and when you close the door, you know you own a well made car, not a cart with 4 wheels
Going from a 6MT S4 to a Model S I miss the luxo, compensated by extreme tech and silent acceleration.
NOKIA vs IPHONE? Qualify(?) vs Technology?
not really worth mentioning quality because we all know Audi has good quality. Thats something people would use in Tesla videos
What do you expect? This guy is so clueless!

I’m trying to decide between a Q4 e-tron and a A7 sport back 55 TFSI.
I'm in the US, and it's just stunning to me the level of configurability you can get in Europe. We don't see that, outside of Porsche.
Svags your thoughts absolut the Q4 e-tron 45 sportback? I have ordered one…
Is this car better than the BMW iX3?
Very good video Kris. This is the video to watch if you consider an e-tron.

Very detailed explanation. I just subscribed.
Great review Kris - especially for us Nerds who are thinking of buying one!
Thsnks s lot!
Yes, but please still test drive different optioned e-tron models, especially when deciding between expensive options. What I will always recommend are the assistant packages (Tour and City) and the isolated windows. They add to the overall experience of driving an electric Audi immensely in my opinion
@@KrisRifa Kris, what is you dream EV? Are you liking Audi? The Audi GT started production officially this week. I am not sure when it will come out.
Thanks for watching 😊😊
I am sorry but size is everything :)
That is a pity. Don’t understand the Audi UK reasoning here at all
@@audivisual Yes, fo some reason Audi UK have stuck us with a series of pre-determined trim options.
Really nice video man. Tnx/tusen takk. 😊👌
Thanks! 😊😊
Is there a cassette player?
Yes
Would be nice if US could have these options as well. I like the sport back.

Hei Kris
Great channel man !
I got a good deal on an etron 55 2019, with more or less all inkl.
What would you say are the difference between 19 and 20-21 modell. is it worth 50-100k NOK ?
What an obsession with the figures of 0 to 100km.
Lufe is not a straight line
Why have you changed the licentplate?
Nice walkthrough Kris. Only 23% in options and get a very special eTron. I had 40% for a Taycan, but that’s Porsche. But it’s an awesome car. I do like that flat charging curve on the eTron 55. Very impressive.
Damn those Norwegian prices. It's like 30% cheaper than here in Sweden. We can exchange bacon and alcohol for EVs 😃
These are on my list right now because they can tow AND be a daily commuter car...SUV...or is it a car? Ether way they have incredible value used, worth the extra $$
I'm "impressed" with your explanation of Matrix, have you ever tried OOOO with the Matrix and seen how they actually work?
What EV would you recommend with AWD? I live in the mountains were it snows a lot... Thank You
Audi E-tron is AWD.
if you want extra off road performance Mercedes have EQC (4X4)2 but otherwise Quattro is the best.
E-Tron 👌
Etron is AWD, although it can choose whether it wants to send power to the front wheels or not. The air suspension gives 'All Road' and 'OffRoad' settings and the latter invokes descent mode automatically.
Great review and spec tips!
Thanks 😊😊
Can you make a similar video for other electric cars, such as the Polestar 2? I understand it would be different since you actually own an e-tron, but still, could be nice
Sure! 😊 If you guys really like this format of video, I can make it on more cars 😊🤩
@@KrisRifa great. Take no notice of the negative comments. Love watching your vid
Oh damn i bought ir before watching this video, what should i do now ?
please don't make a similar video
can someone answer me. no one replies to me on the forums.
I have a new audi etron the door opens without touching the key, but I can not close it anymore - only with the key
By 'close' do you mean 'lock'? Are wearing gloves when you touch the handle to lock it?
Touching with the hand or finger that little square on the door handle makes you lock the doors
Good job Kris 👏
A New subscriber..
Thanks 😊
Hey Kris, very nice recommendation video. Could you tell if the Matrix headlights are better than full Led in your last XC90?
Thanks! No, they are not even close! XC90 has one of the best headlights on the market and the Audi headlights aren’t as good 😬
Very honest and interesting…Maybe good to do the same With the new 😊 ”q8 e tron ” 😊
Looking at this instead of getting a Model Y for my wife. I have a Model 3 now and love it.
I just wanted to know which one did you get? .
You can skip the Mercedes. Air suspension is a must if you're used to it. So I will stick to my Audi E-tron.
Grest video, thanks for sharing!!....
Thanks a lot!
There's the Rivian and Ford F-150 electric. Both can tow. Used, this is a better deal
Very well explained Kris !! Keep it up !!
Greetings from Barcelona :=)
Thanks 😊
You need the 55, the 50 is pointless, just get a better specced q4 e tron.. the bare bones e tron is so poorly specced that you even get manual cloth seats and not even a reversing camera.. i have a 55 and had to get 350k nok of extra equipment to make it good enough. really pointless to buy this car and not get the extras, why not just get a cheaper vw or skoda then?
its such an awsome car, so its a shame that you can get it as caveman edition, it really shouldnt be like that for the price
if you do buy an e tron 55 or 60 with all the extras then its an amazing car
it should come standard with this imo:
-starting price should be 720k and only 55 and 60 availible
-20 inch rims (the 19s are criminally horrid)
-matrix leds
-reversing camera (maybe even 360 as standard, as you really need to buy it for this car anyways)
-standard sportsseats (nobody wants manual toyota seats in a 700k car)
-double glazed windows
i would most definetly recommend getting:
-B&O sound system
-all the assist systems
-21" summers
-gloss black interior buttons
-headsupdisplay
-4 zone climate
nightvision is really nice and i use it a lot, but not worth 3k euro
Geez, I got the 360 degree camera on my 2020 Audi Q3 with sports option. Now I can't live without it. If the etron does not include it, it's a 100% ripoff. Bargain for it, and if they don't include it, walk away.
I will never pay a subscription for any prior core functions like headlights, climate controls, or even the entertainment system. This is allowing corporations to continue to turn more and more into a chargeable service/subscription just to line their pockets with more.
It has actually airsuspensien at the back.
Sweden? I thought Kris was in Norway?
@@donvanvliet9477 I thought only Sweden used kroner, which is actually krona, but apparently Denmark, Norway and bunch of other countries use it too (but probably print their own).

Similar here. Looking at the Q4 35 - love the styling but just wondering if the efficiency is as bad as other Audis which is going to mean the range could be well under 300km
Good video. But indistinct conclusion. Would you have bought an e-tron if you knew what you know now? :-)
Yes!
All the options are excessively expensive with the base price so Audi makes more money with them.
Why is the E-tron so popular in Norway? In Hungary, where i from the stat president has an E-Tron as official car! In Hungary Audi E-tron has more respect than Tesla!
Because you get a huge bonus for owning an electric car
In my country it’s almost 96k I rather get Q7

The normality of choosing between BEV expressed by Kris in this analysis is so Norwegian.

The Audi e-tron 55 has a winter range of 320 km, tested in Scandinavia. That is a joke of a range. Useless! All electrical cars with a winter range less than 850 km is a joke.
Gave you dislike because you mistaken the title, should have been "Don't watch this because it is click bait".
Well then you should Google click bait, because this ain’t it buddy! Good luck in life with that attitude 😅🙈
