Man, that player trying to get that star piece out of the ground gave me anxiety 😂
I had to look away 😅
Oh my lord he had to try so many times before realizing he can’t have things standing on it lol
This part hurt me physically🤣
It was like watching DSP playing.
Me too
How can I focus on the music compared to the guy at 1:08 who cannot for the life of them get that Star Piece
Plus if people really dont vibe with the new one, there gonna be an GameCube badge that probably play the og songs
Yup, old tracks confirmed!
I will be playing 1 file with the new soundtrack and 1 with the original music.
I am hopeful for that, although if it was an option it's weird it wasn't in the trailer whereas the SMRPG trailer showed theirs off.
NOt saying that means it won't happen, just a bit of worry.
Lol nvm I saw the other trailer that confirms the badge, awesome!
I kinda wish it was an option just for ease of access, but making it a bae is more fun aestehtically so yeah, it's cool.
Hopefully you can get it early or easily, so you can use it early if you want.
@@ShyRanger My nitpick about it is that you won’t get to hear the original music in the prologue because badges aren’t accessible at the very start of the game.
I'm all for new music, but I prefer the original track for Rogueport. There is some nostalgia factor, but it also just does a better job portraying the town.
The entire ost of the remake sounds more energetic and cheery, makes the original sound more bland in comparison.
Even though Rogueport looks lighter in the Remake.
As someone that owns the original game I’m not a fan of the sound effect and music changes but everything else looks amazing
Mario RPG remake had the option to switch to old music so hopefully this does too
@@xXEndermanManXx Fortunately, it does! A new badge can be equipped for 0 BP to have this effect.
the remake version has really good parts but the trumpets don't fit the setting
It's still a shame the Smash remix never got a full version
I think the biggest problem for me are the frequent use of metal instruments. They make certain tracks sound a little too...restless? The Rogueport theme is great, but it's more like a battle track than a field theme now.
It could be doing the origami thing where it gets updated after completing a chapter. Glad origami king's music is doing good influences on future paper mario games, if true.
@@cameronhype7934 wasn’t Color Splash already have that type of effect where the music in map selection becomes progressively different as you progress the game?
I think it sorta works? I believe they tried to emphasize how rugged Rogueport is and tuned the instrumentation to feel more menacing
@@fishyfee "menacing" is just straight up not the right vibe for rogueport
@@cryptidcloud true, though it 's more-so the initial/surface impression a new player is supposed to have of the town
Since this is a remake I’m definitely playing with the new music on for a fresh experience
I feel like there's a bit of nestolga bias. I cry everytime I hear the original theme just from the first part
The OG theme is one of my most nostalgic tracks ever. Possibly the Sewers theme too.
.... nestolga?
@@montytown8325 he doesn't know how to spell "nostalgia".
The new theme sound so royal and conclusive that honestly it makes me wonder if this is something closer to what happened to toad town in the origami king, thus at the start it would sound closer to the original tune while as the game progress the theme becomes to sound more "completed"
feel like the new version just sounds like too much going on at once
it's a small and dingey town but the remake version is making it out to be some grand royal city or something
on the other hand, it being chaotic fits with the dodgy, crime-filled setting
I like parts of the new one, could of been better than og but I dont like the parts that feel like ''modern paper mario''
@@prismaticseal2553 or modern Mario in general. I am so sick of big band crap now.
I agree, while I also like the more dense music in the new version, I am not a fan of the guitar rock n roll fusion to make it sound "cool and epic"@@prismaticseal2553
@linkkicksu I understand if you like the original’s mysterious and sketchy feeling and I respect that. But please don’t be so impolite towards the people that work on the OST of this game. The big band of Nintendo put hard work into this and offer criticism is justifiable but please be nice about it.
It'd also help if there wasn't interrupting dialogue chatter for the remakes portion.
Yeah.. I understand that.
I dunno why they did this. The actual track got released. They also did not play the track from start, but halfway through and with the dialogue sound bopping and after playing the full original track. Of course it's going to be an unpleasant contrast
Definitely loving the GameCube Nostalgia
I’ve never been the biggest fan of brass instruments taking the lead, especially when I feel it doesn’t belong. Reminds me of sticker stars obsession with having it EVERYWHERE.
But regardless, I’ll adjust. It’s always hard adjusting to new remixes of songs people adore. And it does sound good. And a few of the new tunes sound like they’ve added new sequences too
This isn't a remix, it's an arrangement
There's thankfully a badge in the remake that let's you switch it to the original version of the music
gotta disagree on the stricker star thing, at least in the sense of the negative connotation used here. If there's something PMSS did great, it was music.
It does feel like they try to push Sticker onward on the TTYD ost, they know we wanted the old one, so why? the music sound fantastic on some points and then there is the trumpet blarring my ears off and the guitar just showing itself which doesnt feel coherent with the rest of the song
@@prismaticseal2553 oh well, that’s why the classic badge is there.
I’m sure we will adjust, and it’ll probably be great in its own way
I am curious as to how the final boss music sounds now.
Good thing is we will have both original and new sound tracks so ether way it’s a win win situation!!
I know I'm gonna enjoy both soundtracks and I can't wait to explore the entire new soundtrack.
I love the new version. I get it doesn't resonate with everyone, but I feel like this is what would play after collecting several of the crystal stars, like how Toad Town's theme in Origami King added more instruments and improved the music over the course of the game'a progression.
I like the GameCube music
Yes that
@@TOON.LINK.12095 Same
But i love remaster one
I prefer the original music. Instruments sound like they are just competing to dominate in the new one.
OG sound track will be back no worries
It sounds like a remix you'd hear in Smash Ultimate :b
@@EwanA5py ironically, there is a partial smash remix of Rogueport.
Kinda unrelated, but the gameplay on the GameCube version from 2:58 to 3:22 mildly pissed me off 😅
I've never played this game, so can you explain what are they trying to do? Is Tris looking for a hidden item or something?
There is a star piece (a secondary form of currency used to buy badges) hidden underneath the floor. In order to get it, you have to ground pound in order to flip the floor piece, but if someone is standing on top of the floorboard, their weight prevents it from flipping. Mario kept ground pounding on the floorboard (doesn’t work) and then Koops kept standing on it! Could have easily kicked him out of the way and got it in seconds lmao
@@SaltyToad00 Did you played the first paper mario though? The star piece under the ground have the same properties as in TTYD.
@@P0chuL1ver Yes, but I'm only on chapter 3. Forever Forest is annoying. I didn't even know what Star Pieces did until now.
I really hope the Lucky Lottery isn't as bullshit as it was in the original.
For those who don't know, the biggest deciding factor for if your ticket was a winner was how long you held onto it. I forget the exact numbers, but I seem to remember you had to wait years for your ticket to be a winner.
The worst part is, changing the clock on your GameCube did nothing to help. You literally HAD to wait years in real time to win.
And when you finally did win, all you got was an Ultra Mushroom. An item you can buy as many times as you want, at any time you want, in the Rogueport Sewers.
The top prize actually is a power plus badge, the best badge in the game that even stacks
Man, that sounds too metal
You mean too orchestra cuz their is no metal ???
i understand what you mean, i think, its the way it sounds
Yeah i don’t get it, like for battle theme sure.
Yeah I don’t how I feel about the new music. I just don’t think it sounds right for some reason and I swear that’s not just nostalgia talking. The original music might be 20 years old but it’s still not ancient compared to even older video games out there. Like if this was a brand new Paper Mario game with the original music from 20 years ago, we wouldn’t even think it was old music playing. That’s how good the old music is! Of course I’ll give the new music a try but I’m pretty sure I’m gonna be playing with the old music instead.
It's too intense for the setting.
100% the original soundtrack still sounds modern and new. I dont get the need to *Update* soundtracks. The instruments sound way better in the original too, its just more simple and pleasing to listen to.. definitely not a fan of the live instrumentation because it wasn't composed for that
Yeah tbh I prefer the original, it sounded more like a journey and fit the town better.
Edit: Nvm I prefer the remake now lol
Yeah
the new music feel like rogueport is more lively
I feel like it’d make more sense for the music in an area like Rogueport to sound less lively though.
@@Masked_Mastermind in the back ally it be less instrument, in which fair enough
I feel like a lot of the original arrangement is lost with the addition of new elements. Doesn’t make it bad, though. It’s a kind of arrangement I’d expect on a cool fan jazz cover or something, not a remake. There was this cool exotic, foreign vibe, with modal sounds emphasized by bass pedals, and that percussion sound, and now those drums, along with movements in the bass line and other instruments, kinda kill it to me. I’d love to hear a more faithful version with realistic instrument sounds, like on that awesome fiddle solo, but honestly, the original still sounds great, so it makes sense they made a bolder change.
Also, for some reason, Paper Mario now has to have realistic trumpet sounds (which is not bad, but kinda funny)
I told someone that it sounded like a fan remix too and they answered with me being nostalgia ear clogged, I said that its like a song remix that wants to accentuate the song as something more grandiose, but because of that it doesnt fit the game itself because its trying to be something else, i knew I wasnt some nostalgia boot licker.
@@prismaticseal2553 Yes, I agree with you. I usually carry some big expectations on an upcoming game’s soundtrack, which makes sense, cause I’m a musician. Realizing that we’re getting a Rogueport with such a different feel to it is, to be honest, just a little bit disappointing, but it doesn’t take from the awesomeness of the mere existence of this game, and the actual effort to build a whole new arrangement (it would probably be a lot easier to do a faithful arrangement, but they didn’t go with that). Nice to see that love and effort directed towards the Paper Mario series, finally
@@lumigpictures I mean, Nintendo is like your stubborn traditional uncle that tries to be better but fails at the message, they kept bringing Paper Mario Games while ignoring us saying “We want the old one!, no more one use bs we want to actually play it as a turn based rpg please and bring partners back!”, until for some miracle your cousin managed to bring them to therapy where they admitted they were wrong, but apparently they are so stubborn that unconsciously they made a small mistake in trying to fix their past and let out a xenophobic comment on the dinner table
I think it will depend audio output based on TV and switch or headphones you have
As much as I LOVE the original, the remix makes it feel like Marios Adventure is THAT much more Epic
That’s a good way of looking at it 🤩 after-all. 20 years later and everyone gets to play this Masterpiece of a game!🏆
@@Acanofalconpunch I really don't see how it does that, its just a common style Nintendo uses and one that is partial to the overall Mario series.
I totally agree. I personally will be playing the new music on my first playthrough.
@@AcanofalconpunchI think Mario’s in his late 20s in this game I might be wrong though
Really don't care for the new version to be honest. The original was almost perfect. The first half conveys the mystery of the town and its history while the second half has that snaky synth riff that encapsulates how seedy and dangerous the city is. The brass in the new one makes it sound majestic... and Rogueport is not majestic. Not to mention that the arrangement is just too dense. So much going on. It's a bit tiring to listen to.
Not to hate, though. The lighting and stuff in this remake looks awesome. But I'd stick with the earlier music
Man this is tough.... the new music arrangement is absolute 💯 🔥 but the Gamecube version is a vibe tho. I prefer both imo. While I dig the trumpets and horns etc in the new arrangement, the original soundtrack feels so simple and basic.
The new music makes Rogueport feel more like a lively harbor. I like it!
New ost sounds too “grand” imo, if that makes sense lol. I’m glad there’s an option to switch to the GC one though
Nah I’m sorry I can’t agree with these comments, you gotta give credit where it’s due. While the og version sounds better. The new version still captures those main instrument featuress like the og did.
I can’t lie though, the beat drop at 3:14 on the new version went hard asf
The new sounds like a redition i wouldve been hoping for for a new smash and paper mario stage.
Or a Mario Kart track.
Too much change on the music style. It’s a completely different genre than the original GameCube version. It will take some getting use to. Good thing I can play separate files. One with the new music and one with the original.
I just hope they give us the option to also play the og music.
They do.
They are, apparently they’re adding a badge that lets you toggle to the og music
there’s a new badge that allows you to switch to the OG music
@@glitchm.c.9931 Yup. It's similar to the FX badges in the original Paper Mario.
@@glitchm.c.9931 Just like the SFX badges, it probably will take up 0 badge slots and just will be a freebie
Please do more Paper Mario related content. I'm sure we are all here for it, right now!
I actually really love the new one, although I can see how others can see it as a bit too much haha. I think it’s a song that a lot of returning players will get used to even after a short while from playing the game.
Why did they have to turn it into rock, like just from a music standpoint going from synth to rock seems… like a weird choice. It’s not bad, I’m just not sure the rock fits better than the synth for this type of game
Many of the remade tracks aren't bad on their own. But they are overstimulating for the settings they're used in.
Gamexplain is the best UA-cam channel, and enjoying the updates.
Like something new to hear about something cool.
dont worry everyone from what i have seen there is a gamecube sounds badge so i assume it will change the music back too not just the hammer and jump sounds.
Did u play the switch music from the beginning?
From what I heard, I thought it would feel too out of place, but it turns out it is actually way better. Good stuff 👍
I like the gamecube one better. I hope they give us an option to toggle between classic and new one
There is. A new badge is being added that will allow you to toggle to the classic Gamecube music.
@@JIL713LFG!!!!!!😂
@@JIL713Hopefully that's really early into the game, like within the first 30 minutes or so.

The badge appears on the badge store. On top of the item shop.
You'll be able to get it earlier.
@@aaronkasarion8144 Sweet that's amazing!
When i started playing the remake without having played the first one, the guitar in the theme made me think it sounded like that because i broke the ladys contact lenses
Using audiophile headphones the remake has extra bass and the trumpets are a nice touch. Love both...won't let nostalgia blind me...but that bass tho.
The original was just so iconic I just wish there was a way to bring back the old sound effects
IDK if the gamecube badge changes more than just the ost, we will have to wait and see, but it does feel bizarre at times hearing goombella having this squeaky ''Banjo kazooiesque'' voice while talking instead of all the characters having the same ''voice''
Kinda sick of the modern PM soundeffects already for some reason.
@@prismaticseal2553while i prefer basically every sound effect from the original, those voice sonds feel so... natural. I mean of course it makes sense, i know, but it's something that was never present in basically any Mario RPG and now that it's here it feels so good like it always was here
@@biondigiacomo7176 Since im used to the old one where almost all “voice” sfx were the same, listening to this new Banjo Kazooie text (voice of character) effect is a bit bizarre, it might take a while for me to adjust, I mostly like it for Koops
@@prismaticseal2553 only luigi's sounds pleasing to hear the rest are either fork on chalkboard or I am the dark lord
I wonder if you can change the setting into modern or classic like they did in super mario rpg remake
I like both of them for different reasons. Will probably be swaping out the Gamecube badge a lot!
Great thumbnail haha
Gamecube just so nostalgic n iconic!! They should add an option to use the og soundtrack plzzz
You can. You need to buy the nostalgia badge from the shop and that will let you listen to the GC soundtrack!
@@haileylp OH YO THAT'S AWESOME!!
Wait so if there is the new badge to help hear the OG sound track then when do you get it? Because if its planned far away then thats a long way just to get it & by then why would you back track when you already cleared most of a area.
Or is it a end game badge where after you beat the game new game plus unlocks & you can keep all items & stats to enjoy from the beginning with other unlockables?
Or again maybe you get the badge almost near the start of the game? Anyway will need to find out more.
It's on the Badge Shop, it costs 1 coin
@@hipoleto literally unbuyable smh
The new one is just a lot in some sections, but then other parts I like. Overall I like the GameCube one more I think.
I wonder if they'll have an option to toggle between the original tracks and the remakes like RPG had. I honestly love both and would probbaly swap between them often.
I really like the new music, and absolutely love the variety of little voices all the characters get. Their voices are giving me Banjo Kazooie vibes and I'm all for it.
I think the Glitzville theme would be a good comparison - it's probably the most different one I've heard
My vote goes to the original version...I feel its more grand and has more oomph to it.
I really like BOTH!
Remember this is after 20 years of experience with composing. A 20 year gap in any creative's career will most definitely have seen changes. Of course it is going to sound different
I like the voice sounds they use when reading out the dialogue. just like Banjo & Kazooie or the Mario & Luigi games
Its SO difficult to choose. I absolutely adore the original, but there's something about this new style that feels amazing on it's own. It definitely feels more like different genres over being from the same game.
This good video tho. Would like you all to add more of this to channel for each version of games remakes or platform versions or AAA games
One of the new songs has got to be a club eurobeat remix. Pokemon did that quite a few times with their remake songs. I’m hoping some something similar with this game!
Do you think you can still cheat at lottery wiht system date?
Probably not. The Switch's clock is way more advanced than the GameCube's.
@@SaltyToad00 ... it's a clock. The game will most likely read what the time says from the system settings and determines it like that.
I got distracted by how bad they were at trying to get the star fragment lol.
I don’t hate the new Rogueport music, it just feels a bit odd. The original fits more with the overall vibe of Rogueport, while the new one sounds more like battle music or a Smash Bros remix or something.
As a fan of all the PM games I think the new music is really good. It fits well with the modern paper Mario style and the original tracks are still available for whoever wants them.
The doogan taking noise caught me off guard
I like how different it is! It just sounds like fun!
I think both versions are good and perfectly viable for different reasons. The original GC version is more atmospheric and accurate to the town's grungy seaside town setting; and the remake version sounds more grand and adventurous. Honestly, both versions are really good to listen to and I just throw on the nostalgia badge (from Rogueport's badge shop) if I ever feel in the mood to listen to the OG music for a while.
I want to experience all the reimagined tracks of this game first-hand to see if I prefer the new or old versions. I don’t think it’d be fair just to switch to the originals since they’ve had 20 years to win me over. It’s only fair giving the new tracks lots of time to sink in.
New song sounds like a boss battle xD
3:14 from Origami King!
New music goes hard, not necessarily the same vibe but with options for both I’m glad we have a version that goes so hard
It’s so weird. Of all the tracks I’ve heard so far, I prefer the remake’s versions for all of them EXCEPT for Rogueport. (Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has the best Rogueport theme 😉)
was not expecting the electric guitar
I’m mixed on the new tracks some of them I really love like petal meadows and the fact the main battle theme seems to have different remixes based on what location you’re in but rougeport really sounds off
Both go hard.
I love the acoustic drums in the remake, it makes the song more epic.
Please show me the guy who listened to the chill synth and bongos of the original and decided it needed shrill brass and rock drums.
They better make a badge that has OG tracks but doesn’t cost any BP much like the emblems that would be nice I’ll grant it that much !
If that's the rogueport theme I'm really excited to hear what the boss themes will sound like. Also moonbase
I can't also wait for Boggly Woods and Train Dusk themes in the remake as well.
If it's anything like Xenoblade DE then just have the option to toggle to the remake or classic. Win win I say 😂!
The new one sounds like a MK8 track lol
Hope they dont remix the shadow queen theme that much the original is awesome
The new orchestration is so rich compared to the original one. As some who played it when it came out and replayed it many times after can't be more excited to play this remake.
Both sound good to me One for nostalgia and I really do like the new instruments but what really freaks me out is the new sounds that the people are making I was not expecting HeheheHEHhhehuhehuheh
The new version almost feels too triumphant for what Rogueport is supposed to be like, but I kinda dig it. Might be switching back and forth between the classic and new version until I figure out which I like better.
It's kinda cool that the new one is using more live instruments like what sticker star onwards did! I appreciate the rearrangement but I absolutely prefer the original
I just think the new version is trying to be a little too much. The instruments are a lot louder and energetic, and more focus is put on the different stages of the song. It sounds more like something is in the midst of happening, but Rogueport's original song fit better for the generally quiet worn down vibe of the town I think
God the remix goes SO HARD FOR NO REASON
I wonder if the Happy Lucky Lottery guy will go ape crap if you change the date on the switch to cheat the lottery like he did in the original? 🤔
...oh lord we got BANJO MUMBLES?
...Alright I'm satisfied
I will be playing with new experiences of the switch version of the music. Ive had my nostalgia with the GameCube but i can’t go back to them days with no time machine and i like where i am now so ima just stay with the new music…… even though its not that deep don’t know why i did that
The more exotic instruments lend to a confluence of cultures indicative of major port towns. It reminds me of the Arabic influence on Venice - still evident in its architecture, and helps flesh out Rogueport's history from small fishing village to bustling port.
I like both tbh. The percussion in the new version is so DAMN gooooddd
1:10 The Paper Mario equivalent of those mobile game ads
I can't wait to hear the full version of the new one. It sounds like it’s gonna be a bop!
There are some videos circulating youtube with early gameplay, you can hear stuff like battle themes, castle, sewers and even the fuzzy battle
@@prismaticseal2553 That's nice and all, but I mean the full version without sound effects.
I love the new music in this remake but the GameCube ones brings me back memories and I can’t wait to get my hands on this game
I think the new music is way too chaotic. Often times it sounds like there are 2 songs playing at 1 time
New song sounds wider but its content with being background noise, Old song was in your face for all the right reasons and feels alive.
