This is a great loss to the entire scientific community and it will be hard to continue without him. Although he is gone physically, Stephen Hawking will always be with us in our hearts and minds.

I must say, I feel the Einstein comparison that gets thrown around a lot just isn't fair. He was who he was he was the Stephen Hawking of his time. Such individuals as those two are in their own league, and were great for what they were and accomplished. To compare lessens the respect for both I worry.

Dear Stephen Hawking, I miss you sometimes, thank you for your contribution to science
"Be curious" is one of the simplest sentences to exist, yet it is one of the most important. When I was like 4 or 5, my parents told to ask questions when there was something I didn't understand, and everyone in my family always took the time to explain it to me. I think this made me who I am today : an open minded young man interested in a lot of different topics. I don't care what anyone says, curiosity is the reason we got so far in only a couple thousand of years.
By the way this man really is a legend. Wht he has done... This is huge ! I truly hope humanity will not forget him. To be able to do so much despite being so sick you have to be insanely strong. To me, this is what peak humanity is like.
