I mean no disrespect to Apex Giant but the Dogbone is a solution to a problem that just doesn't exist. Pick up any stick on the ground and toe it to the line. No sticks around? I doubt thats the case, but if you don't want to use a stick, drill a hole in your spoon and do the same thing as the dogbone. Both options are free and even lighter than the dog bone.
I like the dog bone. It weighs mere grams, works every time, is a lot easier to use than try to tie a stick to your throw rope while holding the weight of your food bag on thin cord, and efficiency with camp chores after a big hike is a win for me.
Those would be good solutions too :D
So, I agree. For those of you saying tying a stick up is hard, look up the marlinspike hitch. It's a super easy knot to tie. I tried a little titanium gizmo from dutchware gear, but it was just a lot more difficult to set up than just using a short aluminum rod (or stick). I bring a long an aluminum rod cause it slides easier than the stick. But I just find the marlinspike hitch to be really easy to tie on a taut line with a heavy bear bag.
To be fair, the dog bone looks better designed than the gizmo I tried. Or maybe I just didn't get the trick. But the marlinspike is super easy. I recommend learning it, even if you use these things. I'll often marlinspike a stick to the line just to give me a handle, if the bag is heavy.
@@commentsonthetube14 I personally have always used the clove hitch for hanging food bags but the marlinspike would be equally effective, and both are not going to jam up. Easy easy knots, ultralight, and take up no space in your pack whatsoever.
@@commentsonthetube14, I actually never thought of the marlinspike. Still don't regret having the dogbone. It would be different if it was an expensive piece of gear. Also the dutchware gizmo is super finicky and prone to fail, so I agree with you. Appreciate the comment to you and @jameshooper3484
. Camping nerds helping each other is good.
YES: THERE'S THE INTRO AS IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE ! =) Yes i typed with caps on.
Love the fact that you are using swedish tools like the knife and the saw. im guessing you have a gränsfors axe too
Appreciate you tuning in :D No axes here sadly
I've had great luck with the mora kansbol. It's like a lighter and thinner gerberg. Not full tang. But I haven't broken it yet. I bring it unless I'm winter camping and know I'm gonna be doing heavy wood processing. Or if I bring a hatchet.
Good stuff :D
I've been looking for a saw recently and this one might just fit the bill! Thanks!
It's a good budget saw. Love having one
Great tips as usual! I hadn't seen the dog bone in action till now. May have to give it a try. Thanks for the share!
Hope you like it!
I'm excited for the next video!
Looking forward to it
Good tips! I haven't seen the dog bone tool, but I've seen something similar a long time ago. So long ago, I forgot all about it until I saw this video. 100% on the folding saw. I keep one & knife in my pack at all times. I carry the Stealth Angel battery because it has solar panels to recharge the battery (kinda slow though). Thanks for putting this together and sharing!
Some very important pieces
Dang dude, I just finished one of your 3 year old videos and your new ones are so much better! Great improvement. Not that the old one was bad. You just seem much smoother and more natural. Audio/visuals and edit are great too 👌
Really appreciate that
5 ah (5000 mah) powerbank has its capacity measured at 3.7 Volt. You'll charge your phone at 5v. 5mah*3.7v=18 500 mWth of real capacity. Divide it by voltage at which your device is charging and only than by your device battery capacity. 18500mWth/5v=3700 mAh. This is one you should divide by your phones battery capacity to get how many times powerbank can charge something. If your phone uses 9v or more to quickcharge actual capacity that powerbank can put in device at that voltage will be much smaller
You could just plug it in and try it a few times
Good info, Alex! Really appreciate you sharing :D
The beard is looking good!
Thank you, Doc!

Those Nortiv 8 boots can be found on Amazon.
And they are relatively inexpensive..
@@jaybird1269 Any particular model ?
@@PierreFarrugia dealers choice..
I have several pair ,I do lawn maintenance and am rough, I mean brutal on footwear, I have 4 different types of boots from N8 and none of them have disappointed.
They are very light tactical.
What about tips for minimizing power consumption with your phone? Obviously you turn off wifi and probably bluetooth. What about airplane mode? Does GPS still work in airplane mode? Do tracking apps like Farout, Alltrails, or Gaia work in airplane mode?
Putting the phone on airplane mode saves a lot of power. If you have AllTrails Pro, you can download your map and it will still track you in airplane mode.
Gaia also works in airplane mode. I use it regularly. (as mentioned above, you have to download the maps prior to being out of range)
Good video idea, Mark :D
Silky saw hands down, sorry.
All is well
I love my silky saw too. It does costs double for a smaller saw, but I have 2 silkys
