If you want big wig/corporate jargon that answers questions w/o actually answering anything, then this is the ep for you. Kinda weak ngl on the part of the crew to not ask questions like why StockX removed the authenticity guarantee on the site/app and why a refund for a shoe that is found to be fake that they sold is like pullin teeth?
I’ve seen just about every episode and I gotta tell ya ain’t nobody NOBODY better versed in big word corporate bs talk than this guy. I been lied to by wealthy old men before and it sounded a whole lot like this 😂
Man you guys are getting soft. This guy would make a great politician because he’s full of BS. Anybody who’s ever had to deal with StockX knows it’s a complete nightmare if you ever wanna return something or feel something is off. 9 times out of 10 you can’t even get anybody to write you back for it takes weeks to even get a response or they just delete your account. I feel like you guys could’ve done better with some tougher questions. Y’all went harder on the guy from mischief and this is a major platform that a lot of people rely on not only for pricing but to buy and sell sneakers. This guy has a lot of questions that need to be answered and you brushed up against them but only stuck to the lawsuit with Nike. That’s not even the real issue with StockX it’s everything else and I may be the only one but I feel not guaranteeing authenticity anymore just puts them completely off the map for me.
@@Freeskiingisdabest definitely, I watch all the complex stuff and I think they just want to stay neutral from here. Was expecting a little more harder questions but can understand why they didn’t. They won’t get good top level sneaker executives if they know they will get grilled when on the show. The guy from Stock X could have done a better job at admitting their past faults and explained how the company grew from them but he didn’t admit there is anything wrong with Stock X and acted like none of that stuff happens. I was blown away when he was talking about the guarantee of authenticity not being there anymore. Like what??? Your just gonna breeze right over that one like it’s no big deal. Of course your process hasn’t changed and that’s why you can’t guarantee it anymore.
Dudes straight lying. I’ve received a fake through them and was told to resell it back through them by customer service instead of just refunding me and shipping it back
Welty comin' correct on # of shoes owned vs one's sense of identification as a sneakerhead! His point really hit home for me, as someone who just recently hit Dunbar's number on my current collection - split between Nike/Adidas/NB/Crocs - and I'm happy w/ a lot of it. I've definitely seen my mentality change about it how much to focus on the game vs before. The shift is real and it feels like a relief for me in a sense, too.
Welty was trying to go somewhere with his point, but some go crazy and wear the shoes beyond simply collecting and looking at em, and have a wide appreciation for dozens of different types of sneakers and again HAVE to put em on with something interesting. The collector he's discussing is almost mythical. We always go too crazy.
He really sat and that chair and tried to dance around the tough questions was weak on his part. From all he said didn’t make me have any trust for stock x but instead showed that what the people and Nike had been saying was accurate
As much as I was hoping for some juicy bits, I guess this was always about as much as we were ever going to get from 1) An active employee of a company, 2) the CEO of said company (and not a younger and less media trained person), and most importantly 3) someone who's company is currently in litigation with one of the most important counter-parties to their business. I am frankly surprised the StockX legal team allowed this. I think a follow up interview once they are done with their litigation is a must And whilst I agree that the tough questions were put to Scott, I would've loved to have seen a few tough follow ups to really press for an answer and not just the corporate speak we got. Great show as always
No doubt Scott is an incredibly successful corporate business head, clearly you can hear this when he speaks, however he is clearly more about customer experience, evolution of digitisation, faster payments…this ain’t a business studies podcast fam! We wanna know if you dudes are selling fake Jordans! Just say yea so we can all move on!
Y'all want Scott to be just upfront and admit that there are fakes that pass through their platform, but reality is, he will NEVER admit to that. The moment he admits that is when StockX will come crashing down. Such news is detrimental to the company and the fact that he's a wallstreet guy for over 10 years, he knows how much any sort of recognition or acknowledgement of the issue can affect their company.
He's so full of it. They give you a very small window to make it right and will only provide that service if you embarrass them publicly. All of these apps let fakes through.
Facts. I think it’s coincidental but I had both pairs of the stray rats and I sold the lime green pair because I knew I was going for the Bronson and didn’t need both
Matt makes a valid point in sneaker collecting and how your views change over time. I'm currently at that point where I don't want all these new retros from Jordan, and believe the quality isn't there like they were in the 00's and SOME from 10's so it makes me feel forced to seek out sneakers that dropped nearly 2-3 decades ago.
I feel you. I’ve been just hunting for older retros and OG’s. They’re made better. Just a little sole swap from a good surgeon and you’re back in the 00’s. I just got a 04 pair of French blue 12’s Vnds still wearable and no separation. They stomp the 2016 retro of that model.
He’s obviously never gone through a dispute with StockX customer service before. You almost need a social media post to go viral to get anywhere with them
I don’t usually agree with Welty, but he’s right. Being in condition to run long distance isn’t a good barometer of how fit you are. And I love running too
And talking about the pre release, he’s right about that. Usually the sneakers release overseas first. Now I have seen on stockx where the sell and buy button are greyed out because they haven’t been released in any country. I think they’re trying their best with what they have to deal with. And I think they’re idea of making the buyer the priority is the right thing to be honest. Probably the majority of sneaker customers (buyers or sellers) are non sneaker heads and just normal people looking for kicks. And they would expect a perfect pair. Btw I don’t buy on stockx unless I know it’s a pair they don’t have fakes of, otherwise I buy on eBay because they have amazing customer service. But I do sell on stockx because it’s the easiest to sell on for the most part.
Dunne: stop interrupting your guests Welty: stop giving monologues to introduce your questions. Ask the question and incorporate your monologue into follow-up questions
Like this show but this is one of the worst episode. Appreciate the program trying to bring some industry insight for the audience but the user experience has spoken enough for Stockx. There is no need for the CEO to come up and make an hour-long commercial
@Vindaloo those rumors have been out for a while, but I agree with you. If they are able to successfully fight off nikes law suit I wouldn't be surprised within a year of that they release intent for an ipo
I do agree with grabbing things just to say you have them in your collection. I grabbed a couple limited roshes I missed out on back in the day, trying to find in 11.5 to 13. I’ll even take good used pairs, knowing I can clean them up. Collecting is different for everyone
Im not a huge Jordan 1 fan cause I'm a solid color guy. 2 tone cool but 4s, 5s, 6s and 11s is my go to. Its a toss up between the Metallic 5s and the Bred 4s for my grail. Favorite 1 is the OG Royal fa sho and Bred 1 #2
I will say, i've brought on 2 separate occasions dunks from stockX that had totally trashed boxes. I think the shoes were legit, but the boxes were rough
A legitimate concern, however, it's up to stockx to pack em right and use the H taping/boxing method before shipping. Third-world countries use this method, yet stockx and many others still don't have a clue.
Stockx is purposely failing authentications to "show" their tough on it. However, they're failing legitimate pairs of Yeezy Foam Runners that come from Adidas, while making 15% profit just in purposely failing authentication.
This may be the first time the guest held back the episode. Still a great show, but Mr. Cutler offered the bare minimum, which is the polar opposite of the greatness Astor Chambers delivered, who has the best installment of the program to date. Of course, my opinion.
Tiffany and co shoe, is easily top10 nikes, idk about sneakers in general cause Jordan got that on lock, but yeah I don’t like Nike, but I would buy those, I just like jordans

Tiffany AF-1. Hit it on snkrs lol. Sold it and ordered another SB grail
