- Not many know how easy it is to rekey your front door using the Smart Key technology. You can use one key to open multiple locks. Must have if you have more than one lock... Less than 1 minute!

I installed the smart key by Kwikset this morning to my front door as my quick set after 37 quit opening and locking. It could not be repaired without all new parts. It lasted 37 years. I did keep it clean, removed any dirt or debris that got in there. Since I live next to the ocean, it seems to happen in the middle of winter when all the rains come. My front door faces the Pacific.
My Kwikset came with a lifetime warranty but I decided that the price was so low and 37 years was a lot of time so I didn't execute the lifetime warranty even though I had all the documents and invoices. Your presentation was very professional and to the point.

I just bought a house that has these locks. So can I use my old keys from my previous house? I guess I have to obtain a lock pic from the store?

THANK You So Much for this video on how to use the smartkey! We just moved in to our house and we were planning on having a locksmith rekey the front door and back door keypad until I read on the keypad instructions (was searching for how to set code) and saw that there is a smart key in the box and we can rekey it ourselves! Mind blown 🤯

Great video. Straight to the point. The instructions in the locks aren't clear at all but the newest packaging actually has instructions on the back complete with photos, but still not as clear as this. Thanks.
Be sure to tell your viewers to only rekey smartkey with the door OPEN! Otherwise, you might get locked out!

Great video. Very easy to re-key multiple door locks. I would add one comment however, you do not have to push the tool in very far as described in the video or on the kiwi set instructions. Just push it in until it feels firm and then pull it out. Follow all other instructions.

Thank you. Very useful! Someone had shown me, but I understand better in English. I heard if you do it wrong, it'll fuck up the lock, and you can't use it with the old key.
You can also turn deadbolt so nubbin is all the way out then use small smart key press than take out original key than insert new key and close deadbolt nubbin

I did this one time like how it said it to do like this yeah and it didn't work like at all the lock wouldn't give back the key. I got it out that time but i put that lock in storage indefinitely i had a normal one too that i had to fiddle with to get it to work on the door like on the hole n stuff. That thing scares me now if i just cant do it right i have one dead bolt like that too but im VERY afraid to do that to make it work with a different key. We had two door knobs too with key that did have keys and i actually gave them keys through a UA-cam video and how to take them apart to do that. Saved me because we needed to use those that time too like not even two days later in a family members house. Mostly because the door knobs there were like whack and closed weird and had a different like stick key that it never had so we did that worked great i could have done that and make them one key already but that just occurred to me like RIGHT now lol. Oh well least i kinda know on how to reset those things the dead bolt, the other handle you have there too actually and the door knob too. If i come across one with no key or something i can fix it too. Well in insumation those rekey thing with that pick thingy scare me to do. I can't understand it doing it like the instructions asked and didn't work.
What they don't tell you is you need to check your key to see if it's smart key compatible and you do that by trying to put it into the lock. Mine didn't work but unfortunately you have to open the package to find the instructions so you can't return it. Mine was a normal house key nothing fancy. In fact it matches the slots on the key that comes with the lock.
I should have bought a standard lock and had it rekeyed to fit my current key. Now I have two doors with two different keys.
Slight modification. I had to turn back my existing key after inserting tool in order to pull it out. The new key after being inserted worked fine afterwards.

Question: Can this only be done once or could I just use my "Smart Key lever" and rekey every house on the block to my key?
you have to insert the smartkey tool while the current correct key is installed.
yes, you could rekey every house you find that uses this system to 1 key, but you'd have to have access to the current key to do it.
