The energy that is carried to the plate at that distance is incredible

I'm a nurse in the ER with covid-19 patients surrounding me! I find solace in watching your vids!
Keep up the good fight Chris, glad you like the videos, Cheers and all our best.
Awesome shooting! It warms my heart to see that the good old 300 win mag can still hang with the newest cartridges. Great stuff.
Cheers Will
Love my 300WM! She's a Thumper😊
This was a TESTING day, both rifles shot very well, very good constant wind and conditions, their were a lot more shots of different rounds, but these are of the best comparable rounds between the 2, both running the 250grn rounds as explained in the front of the video....
FYI, too early to really say, but this testing showed the PRC was the same as the Win Mag with the lighter 230grn projectiles, but when we went to the 250grn, it showed slight pressure signs at the same powder load that the Win Mag did not....as said early days, may just be a brass thing, the primers did not show the pressure issue, just sticky cases in the PRC.....
As for the A-Tips, also just our first real look, but at this point these 250grn are performing very well, we did sort and order by weight (slight differences)
but seems the bigger the better with these.....As said early days, Cheers
xxxx
Do you have the load data for .300 win mag? The book I bought is out dated.
i always liked your videos.. that is why i follow you... to learn.. BUT YOU COULD LEAVE US A HINT ON THE WEIGHT OF THE POWDER YOU USED.... I GUESS YOU ARE VERY JEALOUS OF YOUR WORK...LOL
Fantastic shooting and good spotter, I've only shot 600yrds open sights so I can only imagine the time and effort spent here
So the prc has a higher pressure rating than the win mag. Seems weird that you experienced pressure issues with the prc over the win mag. Do you have any guess as to why?. Maybe I'm not understanding the pressure rating correctly. With a higher pressure rating and roughly 5 percent more space capacity, the prc should have no problems.
Love the sound of the bullet cutting through the air!! LOVE IT!!!
Cheers
Sounds like a jet doing a fly by. That's awesome.
Used to shoot n reload with my pops..he died awhile back n I slipped away from it ..have to say watching you folks I miss it dearly..thanks for the swift kick to get back to the things I love ..keep living the life ..your both very inspiring..by the way my pops was a mast.sarg. in the FFL.and was really skilled ..so thankful of ALL he had taught me..
Thanks Man, glad to help with the needed inspiration, all the best, Cheers
It seems that the proven 300 win is as good as most of us would ever need, and will give the prc a run for the money. Great video you two!
Thanks man, Cheers
Great shooting and the spotter is clear and concise.👍
Thanks John, Cheers
I respect the fact that you guys get out to some serious distance without using 50 pound "rifles". It makes the ELR game seem more obtainable to us ordinary guys. Keep it up!
Thanks Jacob, Cheers
300wm does everything just fine and then some. Shot a mile and a half with a modern day "advanced" round and kept pace just fine
yep, cheers
Been shooting a 300 win mag since the early 1980's. I'll just keep shooting it. Shooting a rebarreled Sendero, master smith said 208gr ELD Match & H 1000. H 1000 has worked very well for decades, I'm anxious to plink around at 1000, 1750 & 2250 yds. Keep up the good work, enjoy watching
Awesome, Cheers Man
Thanks for sharing these testing videos, especially with the A-Tips. They seem to be performing better than in your first video. Keep them coming!
These 250's did well both times, more testing to come, glad you like, Cheers
Never get tired of hear those bullets whizzing through the air on your target cam.
Thanks Jeremy, Cheers
You know some people can take a step back from what they do and say "damn I'm good". You two are definitely in that group! I would love to see some more of the cars too. Maybe over the winter?
Lol, we do our best, thanks very much for the kind words, Cheers
300 WM all day for me ! Love that caliber
Cheers Dan
Awesome you two. Thank you for your time.
Thanks Man, Cheers
As Air Strike Technology said; you two make it look so easy. But we know the truth. Thanks for bringing us along!
Thanks Billy, yes lots of practise and lots a hard work, nothing happens without both, Cheers and all the best.
What you are doing is pure art!
Thank you for sharing!
Chees Man
Hello, I was in deep calculation, design and the extra money wanted to reserve for another 300 mag build, but i am just sure now: my trusty 300 winmag Sendero will utilize 230 grainers / hope that with good result/. ELD Match bullets ordered already! Thank you for this video Mark and Sam! 300 WINMAG is the most sensible 308 cal magnum , and not only by the availability of brass, and heavy target bullets. But the case capacity, design, and my 15 + years reloading experience of it. :-)
Yes still a great cartridge, Cheers
Impressive. Most of us consider 400 yards "long range". 1 mile is unthinkable but over 2500.... Incredible. Thanks
Thanks man, Cheers
I'm sure I'm not the only one having difficulty with the math of 300WM / 2700+FPS / 250gr while looking at published data. I'd be the first to admit I don't have all published data. Good work in any event.
Cheers, FYI published data is only for factory rifles, can all change with slight improvements, videos here to explain, Cheers
Your spotter saves you so much ammo! Well done to her and nice shooting to you.
Yep, Cheers
Again great job thanks
I’m shooting the PRC and really like it. Also seeing close to the same results with WM
Very interested in the A-Tips
This is the best comparison I’ve seen PRC vs WM
Thanks Brad, Cheers
For someone looking to start their journey, would you suggest the 300 WinMag or the 300 PRC initially to build off of? Lots of confusing information out their and I'm just starting to learn. Love your content! Thanks so much from California, USA
First video I have viewed from You, Mark and Sam. The Drone fly over at the end of the video gives you a true depth of field view. I enjoyed your video content very much. I am a fan of the 338LM, but I love shooting the 300WM. Much more cost affective round. I have yet to pull the trigger on the 300PRC. Seems I can do everything with a WM that can be done with a PRC, honestly, and with all due respect.
Thanks Eric, Cheers
Nice work.. Im partial to the 300 win mag.
Cheers
WAY easier and cheaper to buy 300 wm ammo
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! As always, another awesome video! Great shooting! Cheers!
Thanks Charles. Cheers
Some impressive testing. Thank you. I’m considering a rifle chambered in either 300 WM or PRC. Always enjoy seeing first hand results/experience
Thanks man, cheers
With modern reamers, the ol’ WM is right there with the PRC. Pick whichever is easier to get brass for.
factory ammo and barrel/chamber 300 PRC all day
reload and custom barrel/chamber, to close to matter.
It only York 60 yrs to catch up!😂 the ol' girl came out in 1963
Stick with the 300 wm. If you want to shoot heavy bullets close to 250g step up to the next cartridge.
2800y with a 25x optic. Amazing. That’s a sub-moa target at 2800y in a 20mph wind. Wow.
Cheers
Gee wiz, almost 3K yards and the 300 Win Mag still has a lot of energy! Very cool 😎 video!
Cheers
I had been looking into 300 prc but it appears that the tried and true 300 win mag is a still viable option and hangs well with the 300 prc I'll be keeping my 300 win mag set up
Cheers
If you reload; belted brass gives more wear and tear resistance.
@@tallen4520 What do you mean "wear and tear" resistance? Curious because im tempted on a 300 mag
@@whatittooye The brass is usually thicker.
@@tallen4520 Oh ok thanks.I think the only downfall too 300 mag is the belt and when you start too reload it (im sure you know what i mean)
Sounds like a plane going over every time. Love it. Good Shooting.
Cheers
Hi Guys! Always enjoy your videos. I see you used AR2225 Powder and said you got pressure signs on a very slow moving load on the 300PRC. AR2225=Retumbo I think and I found that the 230 and 250 A-Tips didn't excel with Retumbo out of a 28" 1-9tw Bartlein. I found VihtaVuori N565 to be an excellent powder for the 225 ELD-M's, better in the 230 A-Tips, and exciting in the 250 A-Tips. I pushed what many would consider a hot load with a 250gr A-Tip with Hornady soft brass, N565, FGMM 210 primers on a 30F (-1C) wet and miserable day...at 2931fps with a slight ejector swipe. ADG will be releasing 300PRC brass soon...and it should help me with making that my standard load.
Of course these were too long to magazine feed....but they shot with a very consistent vertical out to 1760yds. Good to see you guys shooting. Always have fun.
Thanks Man, sounds great, just not an option over here, those powders are not sold in Australia...Cheers
@@markandsamafterwork That is a shame. I wasn't happy with Hodgdon H1000, Retumbo was my go to powder for the 225 ELD-M's but was replaced by N565. I didn't like N560 nor N570. RL-33 was an abject failure in the 300PRC. Reloader 25 was a failure and RL - 26 is like Unicorn Dust around here at the moment. I haven't tried it yet, but I doubt it will be better for me than the N565 according to the burn rate charts.
Again, thanks for making such quality videos and keeping me informed and entertained while it's too cold outside for me to shoot....comfortably.
Thanks Man, Cheers
Outstanding job with both.
Cheers Man
Absolutely love your channel and your shooting skills! One word amazing!!!
Thanks Man, Cheers
That round took the bus to the target!! Damn that airtime!!

i love only two calibers - 22 lr and 300 wm. thanks for videos like this.👍💥💥💥
cheers Tor
great video setups - awesome with all the different perspectives - lots of money and time you must put in to get this done - great job
Thanks Man, glad you liked, Cheers
Spotter is good!
Cheers
Good video.. in my opinion it's looking more and more like the .300 prc is just another fad cartridge and the old saying if it isn't broke don't fix it stands true for the win mag.
I hear you, personally I will let the dust settle and see, it has some good design features, but really depends on the market, if enough manufactures pick it up, then it will end up a good thing, if not, then yep just another fad, Cheers
Have you seen any advantages in the PRC. I am thinking of building a custom long range/hunting rifle and looking at 300 wm 300 prc and potentially a 7 saum. I know adg is supposed to be releasing some brass for the 300 prc soon so have some other options coming there.
Any thoughts?
@@welldonecj7 All in the video, other than that, apart from doing this rifle, I would normally wait at least a couple of years before I went with a new cartridge, so too early for me to say anymore, Cheers
I would be willing to bet that in 1963, there was an old .30-06 guy saying something similar about the .300 win. And really, what cartridge wasn’t a “fad” at least once in its life? Nothing is tried and true right out of the box. “Tried” can take some time. Nothing wrong with either caliber, or any caliber for that matter.
@(T)(h)(e)(D)(u)(d)(e) Hahah, you're joking aren't you? The Government and the Military were behind not adopting the mighty FAL (instead, they went with a lemmon) and then later going with the 10mm. Who the hell sites GOVERNMENT when it comes to good ideas or good judgement?? I left the Military for a reason, social experiments trying to entertain Women in combat (sure, they had to water down standards to those of handicapped levels just for them to qualify..but hey, "progress") and now freaks in dresses and that's your argument? Government?
The 300PRC is for the pretty girls wearing full monkey suits, cool gear and nice little paper distance holds on their optics, while making sure their dark flat earth tactical pants don't rip, the "PRS" crowd. Other than that, it's a gimmick and it doesn't do anything that the win mag already does. Don't take my word for it, watch this same video. And yes, Hornady benefited from Remington's bad management of the .260. They saw an opportunity and took it.
That's insane!
Cheers
Great video. Thank you.
Cheers
And I was curious on what should be the opinion of Mark on the Atips shooting from a 300 win ..... Here we are. I had to say honestly a 230 grainer would be my choice, because of factory 26” 1:10 Sendero barell I have in use. But anyway thank you for the video Mark!
Hornady recommends a minimal 1:8.5 twist for the 250gr A-Tip, but it looks that it shoots fine in you 1:9?
Yes we tested the 230's also, lots more info to come, but some more testing before we get to that, Cheers
Hi Erik, yes thought they would work, and yep, at this speed they sure do, Cheers
That's a incredible shooting.
Cheers
Excellent shooting you two! I'm really excited to try the A-tips in 338L!
Cheers
Congratulations your a real shooter. 2845 yards amazing shot. Guts trying 4000t can take lessons from you. Threw 67 shots to hit. Even I could do that
Thanks Reggie, Cheers
Love her accent! Those 250’s clobber the piss out of that plate. Safe to say lethality is still there if one could get a consistent dependable shot
Cheers
Excellent videos. I'm surprised yall don't have more views. You guys are solid!
Thanks Man, yes, we don't get much help from YT, a bit to real for them I think, lol, Cheers
@@markandsamafterwork so very true. I've heard the yt gun channels don't even get paid because their content is about guns. Is that true?
This guy is outstanding!!
Thanks Roy
Great shooting, great spotting. What a team!
Thanks Man, Cheers
great shooting again , interesting to see that a 1 in 9 stabilazes the 250gr bullets
Thanks and well at this speed it does, keep in mind it is RPM (twist x fps) that stabilises, Cheers
Did we miss an important "feature" of the 300 PRC? I don't have the time or money to keep reloading 300 Win Mag to satisfy the bullet seating needs of the 300 Win Mag. Now we have the SAAMI specs for the 300 PRC! Now I can purchase factory ammunition and have the bullet seated out far enough to get some really remarkable accuracy. 300 Win Mag hand loaded is great but not so great when it comes to factory ammo. This really puts the 300 PRC ahead of the 300 Win Mag. I'm not going to sell my 300 Win Mag but if I don't have the time to hand load, my 300 PRC is my choice of caliber.
Lol, Cheers
Imagine how well the .300 Win Mag would shoot if it didn't have that darn belt?! *insert sarcasm here* Fantastic shooting, as always. Well done!
These are the 250grn pills, we tested the 230's also, these shot the best out here, Cheers
@@markandsamafterwork I apologize for typing too fast and thinking too little. I wrote it backwards of what I intended.
Yeh, we all get that sometimes, also FYI, the belt has never caused me any concern, Cheers and all the best.
@@markandsamafterwork the belt has never hurt anything. You just get the keyboard snipers telling us how it is out dated and useless. Funny thing, mine still shoots under 1/2" at 100 yards, and I think that is not bad for a hunting rifle.
@@M4A3 please correct me I'm not trying to be an internet ninja, just trying to further educate myself before I build a rig of my own.
I thought the biggest advantage to the 300 prc vs the win mag was the ability to load higher weight and bc bullets but still fit in a mag box.....
Am I going down the wrong path here?
Well done Sir and Mam! OuTsTaNdInG as always! Thanks for this....
Cheers
Hey mark and Sam, did you have to cut the throat longer to run these bullets? Or is the majority of the length forward of where the ogive begins? SAAMI or CIP chamber specs? Thank you.
Yes both have been pushed forward to suits these loads, Cheers
Hi Mark! I am considering a new long-range rifle - out to a mile, perhaps 2000 - should I go 300 Win Mag or 300 PRC?
Hi T A, well both would work fine, and we have shown a fair bit of what I have found, but decision is still for you to make, depending on all you details and preferences, Cheers
I ponder if the PRC slightly larger case capacity and longer neck gives you a little more room to experiment with load development???? Great video I've watched it many times now.
Both are chambered and handloaded to best of capabilities with these heavy projectiles ...Cheers
Great video thanks.. Making decision even harder now.. Been wanting a 300PRC.. Is it that much better to justify????
Cheers
Great stuff guys
Cheers
Great shooting tex. These PRC rounds are very interesting and so some real promise. I didn't hop on the 6.5 creedmore bandwagon I have a 6.5x55 Swedish and.It has worked well for me I've had it for 18 years and honestly it does what the creedmore does however I like the 6.5PRC it's like the 6.5 magnum. I hope to get into some long range shooting been looking into the 7-300 practical. or even the 6.5-300. I'll be watching for your updates on this project.
Cheers
Awsome shooting you have a great place to do some long range shooting and you have awsome toys or tools being that’s your life style
Thanks Man, yes we are lucky, Cheers
And here I was concerned about running the 225gr ELD-M in the 300wm, due to the length. This video leads me to believe that this shouldn't be an issue.
Cheers
Just watched the video, great shooting as usual, shot some of the A-Tip's in my 260 today with similar results, getting minute or less groups at 1000 yards when I could hold still long enough, can't wait till I can get some for my 338 Lapua
Sounds great, the 6mm A-Tips where OK but not like these 250grn 30cals, so be interesting to test the 6.5's at some stage, Cheers
That's not good to hear, thinking of building a 243 and shooting the A-Tip's in it
Only first tests, and comparing with very good Berger bullets, but still, Cheers
Sooooothing!
Cheers
Amazing spotter. Great partner
Cheers
Great shooting, subscribed

Just ordered one of your adjustable bag base hope it helps. I have a heck of a time getting my rear stock height proper when out shooting long range. Hope to see more of these 300 prc videos. I have a Christens Arms 300 prc Long Range Mesa and Howa Bravo 6.5 Creedmoor and Savage 30-06 sporter rifle. Did 1500 yards today not hitting every time but right in there. Still working on my muzzle jump which is my biggest weakness. Greetings from Tillamook Oregon.
Great to hear, can be a few things, although Butt pad height is the normal issue with muzzle jump, Cheers
@@markandsamafterwork Ment to say adjustable bag base in my earlier post. Going to make a bagrider for my rifles and maybe look at getting better muzzle brakes anyway thanks again for the videos.

300prc seems to have a tight group than 300win
By the way,amazingshot! I can't believe you're shooting 2800yard!!!
The longest distance I've ever shot is a 250-meter target in the boot camp.
Both shot well, but the chassis with the PRS is at another level, heres a video with it running a different barrel, Cheers

@@markandsamafterwork ok, Thanks for the advice!
Very interesting. That 300wm seems like it hits harder though. Are you using 230 or 250 grain rounds? Title says one thing, the crawl says something different, just fyi. Cheers!
As said in the front of the video 250grn, but also tested the 230's, Cheers
@@markandsamafterwork Gotcha, sorry about the confusion. Those 250s must thump.
All good, my bad, should have been more clear, Cheers
Awsome content mate.. Cheers from the south
Cheers John, Thanks
Great shooting. Absolutely impressive consistency at that range. And you answered my question of if my 26" 1:9 300 RUM will stabilize that 250 grain bullet. Looks like it will. I should be able to make up enough velocity w my harvester 30 suppressor to make up for the 2 inch shorter barrel. Thank you.
Cheers
You guys rock, think I will keep the wm
Cheers Tim
Have you ever considered getting a spotting scope with a reticle. It would make the spotting allot better and Save you money in the long run. Just mho
Thanks for the thoughts, but not how we do it, spotters job is to tell me where the bullet landed, not to call me onto target, references work better that mil or moa calls in our style of ELR shooting, and best vision is helped with clean vision (no reticle) FYI, you don't adjust the same amount as you see, once again, doesn't work that way, Cheers
Do you feel like a 338 Lapua splash is significantly more than the 250 grain atip out of the 300 win mag/prc?
Sometimes no, sometime yes, depends on details, Cheers
Thank you for all you do for long-range shooting!
YEESSS!!!!! ...haven't even watched it yet
Cheers
Thanks for the video! The scrolling info during the video, and the additional info in the comments section are great! All my questions have been answered. Still on the edge of my seat as you move forward with this. My Winny is a Browning lever for brush hunting, these videos have me itching for a new bolt. But to justify the money, it'd have to be an elk/moose gun my daughter could pack. So far my research has me seriously considering the .270 WSM
My ULR fun will have to be limited to, how far away can I hit a 24" plate with a wood stock, pencil barreled hunting rifle, haaha. If you can shoot a 45-70 out to a mile with a piece of wire taped to the receiver for an aperture sight, there's hope for me yet.
Glad you liked. All the best with the next one. Cheers
Love these testing videos great idea of putting your thoughts and how you felt on the drone b roll cheers
Cheers Kyle, Thanks
Both of those were very consistent, didn’t take any time to get them on target
Yes they where and yes there was lots of other testing shots between the 2, but as said this was how these rounds went from first shot to hit, Cheers
Amazing shooting guys.

There's a reason why 300 Win Mag has been as long-lived and as popular as it has been.
Yep, Cheers

With the almost identical setups that you have between the 300 WM and the 300 PRC, is there much difference in recoil?
None, Cheers
@@markandsamafterwork Watching this video for like the 5th time today. You guys are amazing! Cheers!
Taylor Swift sings "If I were a man " You Are the MAN 🌻awesome shooting 🥇
Lol, glad you liked, Cheers
You need to use a slightly slower powder in the prc to reach its full potential.
That would also improve the WM, the PRC is just better suited for the lighter bullets, 225 or less, Cheers
@@markandsamafterwork that makes no sense as it is literally designed to shoot heavy bullets.
Nice video, guys! What state are you at?

Hopefully they make a 7mm bullet for an 8 twist in 200- 210 grn range... It would fly

@@markandsamafterwork I love your videos chief.... Your and your wife are a hell of a team....
Thanks Shannon, glad you like em, Cheers and all the best.
Great work guys.
What was the MOA elevation and wind difference between the two?
Thanks Man, in the video the conditions (wind) was different between to 2 rifles, so had 10moa difference, but when tested straight after in same conditions, had 5moa difference, Cheers
If you were to load to fit within a standard magazine length ( say a sako trg 300 win mag magazine), would their be a difference ballistically? Or is this all just bs marketing?
I have read that 300 win mag needs to push the long heavy bullets into the power capacity to load them within the magazine. But seeing as you don't actually come close to filling the max power capacity in either round before pressure starts...does it even matter?
Cheers and Thanks
These 2 rounds are the same length, both longer the factory, both to suit long magazines, Cheers
@@markandsamafterwork Do you think with the 230 bergers you could get the Win mag to match the prc and still fit in a regular magazine?
I realize the 250s are very long and probably were never designed to fit any magazine
Not something we have tested, we rarely use the mag, Cheers
About getting close to that 5K paddock time again.
Lots of fires over here, lots smoke in the air, we are ready when we get vision, Cheers
I've heard that the 300 prc has an extremely short barrel life.
As always, depends how you use them, Cheers
No shorter than .300 Win Mag does.
Would love to see a "your thoughts" video on 6.5 gap saum vs 300 prc.
Maybe, Cheers
Fantastic shooting as always! Quick question that you've probably covered but I must have missed. Do you use a Kestrel or another solver to get your firing solutions?
For this stuff while developing new loads with new bullets I use basic tables, but when set up I use Applied Ballistics or Strelok Pro on the iPhone, Cheers
Now I can't get a 28" 1:8.5 twist out of my head for my 300 RUM... Looks promising so far!

Go to 32”
That first one was HOT
Cheers
Hmmmm so much for the 300 prc hype.I would say all in all 300 win mag won that match.not bad for a old gal by modern standards first debuting in 1963.
Yep, lol, Cheers
As I understand it 300 PRC is "better" if you're buying a factory rifle. If you go custom you can get the 300 WM to everything the PRC can do i.e. use longer, heavy, high BC bullets.
Can u do a close up of the rounds to compare similarities next time? Thanks mate.
Did you notice the images at the beginning? Cheers
I have .300 win mag.300 prc and .300 ultra mag love all 3
Cheers
I`m amazed to see the energy from the bullet at this distance with those calibers
Cheers
have you folks done a video on how to choose the right optic for one's rifle?
We have done a couple of build series on ELR rifles, and we do reviews on scopes, but largely for ELR/Precision shooting, so those may help, otherwise heaps of that stuff on many other channels, Cheers
