You have to sign Simkin! He's a great GK for this and a couple of levels higher.
interesting timing because he just made his championship debut at the weekend.
Only thing I would say is if rugby go up he might be able to get even better, that said he is still an upgrade on Brian for the short term

please sign the new goalkeeper! you would spend 500 pounds "extra" but on the other hand you have brian for free and he is leaving in the summer. even if they recall him because he isnt playing, simkin is just the better player (and you wouldnt need to worry next transfer special about signing a new goalkeeper while you sign 2 new striker wonderkids ;) )
North Shields does have a football team, Jack. Also, when you said there was "no stand" at the one end of the South Shields ground, you were actually looking at the roof of a small stand.

Would be madness to not sign that new keeper knowing that we will lose the main man we have had come the end of the year, even if you only use the new guy for cup comps. Also good to have in case of injury
For the atributes he had Bradley Moonan loan still seems like the most sensible decision for your CB worries. Assuming he will join and hasn't gone elsewhere already.

North Shields do have a football club, but South Shields are leagues ahead. (My son plays for North Shields junior team) which is famous for producing Newcastles Longstaff brothers!
North Shields have a team. They were in step 4 but had to be demoted due to ground issues to step 5.
South Shields nearest club to me. Lots of the work on the ground has come in the past 5/6 years. Never had parking but a Saturday kick means you can park in all factory car parks or local metro line. There is a North Shields team, currently in Northern League Division One along with Tow Law Town
My mate highlighted this to me.
It is the club house, Arca does manage them for a second time round, Kevin Phillips has also.. It is in an industrial estate. The new stands not long been built. There is a bit of standing behind that goal.
Car parking is near to none other than Tescos up the road for parking or on the streets.

Great stuff thanks Jack, are you still considering that centerback on loan you were looking at last episode? He looked like a pretty serious upgrade. You're going to win the league either way but get him and the new keeper and you got a better chance of going far in the cup. And who knows maybe you can convince him to stay permanently after promotion, or at least loan him again next season.

I have started watching your series a few days ago and you inspired me to play some lower league save. The south shields hired me so I imagine how surprised I was when I saw you are doing away game to them in this episode :)
Loved the Mariners park review! My Dad grew up in Shields and I spent some time living/working there and made it to a game when I was there! Great atmosphere!
South Shields is my local non league club. The stand has just been built recently for £3m. Two of the floodlights are blue and the other two purple to match the club colours
Amazing I’ve known Tommy Simkin since he was a kid, great to see him appear although I think the game severely under estimates his ability
I've been to Mariners Park quite a few times. I can report it is a great non-league stadium - the little weird building is the old clubhouse and has a pretty good bar!
Goalkeeping injuries are still prevalent in my saves - one just fractured his arm in the 5th minute, then next game his replacement twisted his ankle and out for a month
Love seeing my local club Scarborough Athletic getting a lil spotlight! It is quite an odd badge now that I think about it, but I can’t help but love the seagull.
Would sign the gk but loan him out to recoup some of his wage and have hime game fit and happy for the next season when you need him.
I have noticed fewer injuries in general after the patch, havent seen a gk injury yet either.
Feel like the away day warranted a 7 for the park benches and gazebo alone!

would deffo sign that GK Simkin - hes a massive upgrade on current keeper, who you are paying £0 wages anyway - so get a new young (and better) keeper in and develop him even more, potential to resell too

Ratings in FM should return to the old non-decimal bits. Those were more accurate to represent who is playing well and who is not since, like you said, anyone who doesn't score or assist seems to get scores between "6.4" and "6.9". 6 should be the average, like old times, then gimme a 5 and a 7 to know what's below and above average, 4 and 8 to know who's playing bad or good, etc. Way easier to interpret the Match Engine, and who's having a good or bad season imho.
just saw Freckleton give the ball away that eventually led to that pen and then he gave the ball away that almost became the equalizer in the first game...I'd say a new CB asap :-)

Unlikely to happen on this park to prem but I'd love for you to do Stocksbridge Park Steels one day. It's one of the most picturesque stadiums in the country and jamie vardys old club.

I think signing Simkin is pretty much a no-brainer, I agree also that you should try to sign another fullback so that Sleight can play at centre back. maybe another really good centre mid too just in case of an injury crisis, you need to speculate to accumulate 👍, loving the park to prem again, tho I hate the weekends as you post Mon-Fri at approx midday UK time.
Haven't bothered putting a GK on the bench unless I really have to for a long time now. Very rare they get injured midgame I would defo make the switch
If you get an injury to a goalie in a game simply instant result from the tactics screen making no changes and whatever the score was at the time it will stay the same. Only works though if you have no goalie on the bench.
You could go back for the loaned CB teams from higher division have a transfer window closing soon they might get loan players for lesser fee than before
Re goalkeeper injuries: after the latest patch I sent my backup keeper out on loan in January just 1 week before my starting keeper got injured for 3 months. That keeper sub spot is sadly still needed

This one is amazing, I’m a bit conflicted. On one side I like moving clubs, getting better contract and make it realistic, but with this team and such youth intakes it would be interesting to see how far you would get with youth players. My dream would be two more promotions, a job in Scotland to disrupt Celtic dominance and right after a top team in England which just dropped out of the top six. But dreams will always remain dreams
Furthermore to add to this, wouldn’t it be fun to cheer on a national team and scout a bit extra in that. Just to see what kind of impact you as trainer can make

I wonder if you can see him being your GK in the division above
If not, Brian is alledgedly the best keeper in the division, so keeping him for the season and look for a VNL level GK next season would be wiser than signing Simkin for this season and looking for another one next season

i've played a whole season in the vanorama without a gk on the bench and never had an issue. even if you lose a game because of this gamble i think it's worth it overall, 5 subs is simply not enough in terms of bench options

i think if you keep a goalkeeper on the bench then your starting keeper will never have an ingury, but if you drop the substitute once, he will be injuried in that game. the game is watching you XD
I took my gk off the bench, got an injury next game, I couldnt find the gk rating for outfield players on your skin :')

Signing Simkin would be an excellent idea. Sign him up! It's always good to have two goalkeepers competing against each other. What if one of them gets injured? Quality and quantity are of equal importance.

Personally I'd sign Tommy to a contract starting next season. If he doesn't like that then offer a contract for this year.
