Even though I'm far away from you, I can still connect and see many interesting things about you. Gardening life always brings me curiosity and excitement, I find peace when I see green plants and the gifts they bring to us. Wishing you all peace and good health
Thoroughly enjoyed your video, always enjoy watching homegrown produce being picked for some reason, wish I could do it myself unfortunately we live in an apartment but I try to grow as much as I can hydroponically. It’s amazing what can be grown indoors with a grow light and nutrient rich water. God bless and thanks for sharing!🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦🍁
Hello! So nice to find a fellow Minnesotan gardener! Your garden is so beautiful. Isn’t it nice to have some chickens to help clean up some produce. I never feel like I’m wasting anything if I’m feeding the chickens. I’ll have to try some of your pepper varieties. Thanks!
So crazy how diverse our nation is! I just planted a bunch of stuff this weekend (Southern California. Salad greens that only survive this time a year in 9B. I was even scared if my spinach will even germinate bc it's still 80s and we are gonna get a couple 90* next week. Planted broccoli, carrots, garlic, Romaine, Butterleaf, cilantro and dill this weekend. Radish and beets going in today. Sept/Oct is the start of a new season here, one that is sometimes the only time certain things will grow when we have 100-110 summers.
Those tiny green beans that won't store well are perfect in End of Harvest Soup, which you can start in the slow cooker before you go out for your final harvest, and just toss them in once you're back inside. The tiny pruning snips that you say not to waste your time with are my favorite! They won't work for squash of course, but they're great for cukes & peppers & noodle beans & all kinds of things.
My wife and I picked our butternut squash a week ago. We just have a small back yard garden so only got 9, good enough for just the two of us. Thanks for the cart idea to cure, I was bringing them back and forth. We live in 4b close to St cloud so all of your videos are great for us thanks so much! Ohh ya we just had a vacation to moose lake, stayed at the Hanging Horn resort highly recommend.
I am in southern Minnesota and we are expecting our first frost tonight. My brother made me cold frames to put on top of my raised beds to extend the season. I am almost happy the frost is coming (not really!) to try them out.
A trick that i have tried and works for tomatoes is to cut them with the stem like you would flowers and put them in water they continue to ripen fine . may work for peppers also
You are cutting-edge pioneers. Extend the pepper and tomato season with a hot tunnel in the spring, when daylight is long. Get creative with solar and sand heat storage to keep it off-grid. Control the soil temperature. Snow damage threatens our area. I will share my very small-scale pepper experiment findings if you are interested. They are in containers.
I live northern Maine and brought in tomatoes August. A mixture of 9 to 1 ratio bleach and water with little dawn an d good rinse and drying I still having them now on porch with cloth cover. Cucumbers were done mid Sept. down to Kohlrabi, cabbage, and kale.
I clicked this on as I am harvesting my peppers....Poblano peppers no less even, so what do u like to do with ur Poblano peppers? I am only picking my peppers in full color as I have a green house that has so far protected them from a couple frosts already, they r thriving in here!
I find that if you put a tomato with you pepper box they will ripen if they have a tiny bit of color on peppers. Quick tip with celery if you cut a nursery pot bottom out and place pot over when you plant the celery it blanches and stalks get longer and thicker and stay cleaner it also helps to keep water in ground celery has heavy water needs
Can you please do a video on freeze drying your cherry tomato's. It's amazing how relative things are. Where I live (Melbourne Australia) 45F is the coldest we ever get and I think I live in one of the coldest places in Australia (Tassie beats us just). You are going to be a Million subscribers in no time.
When i was a little girl we would buy geeen tomatoes that were pickled in a SUPER garlicy brine. It was imported from Ploand and oh my goodness, they were DELICIOUS 🤤😋 i guess they were more than likely like a refrigerator pickle (tomato)
I can't believe how lush your garden still is! I'm in zone 7a and I pulled pretty much everything last weekend. I had a terrible pepper year so anytime I see people picking beautiful peppers I get so jealous lol! What all do you use that many squash for?
I'm in town & solidly zone 4, but my sorrel thrives, so I think yours will be fine. I didn't realize basil was so touchy, I'd planned to cover it tonight, but maybe I'd better cut it & bring it in since I want to make vinegar with it.
Katie. Will you share your seed variety lists? Please and thank you. I also had small poblanos this year. I’m zone 3b northern Wisconsin. This is my 1st time gardening here and im60 years old 😮
@@thehomesteadingrd we are in southern Minnesota but my biggest problem this year was the unending rains this spring and summer. I had to replant three times. We had a decent Harvest just not as good as it should have or could have been

14:26 Can you believe it? Hidden under those thick green leaves is a pumpkin so massive, it’s almost unreal! How much do you think it weighs? Take a guess-I’m dying to know what you all think?
I am also a farmer but I am from Bangladesh my dream is to go abroad and earn a lot of money by doing agricultural work ❤️but I could not go abroad because I am poor 😭
I ended up only covering my prized peppers in the raised bed. Those ones survived the frost, but the rest in my in-ground garden are toast. I’ve already removed most of them

Don't waste the green tomatoes! Slice 'em up, batter and fry! Nothing better than a plate of fried green tomatoes. 😋
Use them with tomatillos! Make salsa verde.
Yes❤
Amen! I've just recently learned how to can them green to fry later. Love them!
I just canned hot dog relish with my green tomatoes. So yummy.
Yes ma'am
Your garden is so beautiful, I love the scene of harvesting fruits and vegetables. Thank you for bringing these wonderful moments.

They are amazing! Just not for the big squash stems
I'm in MN also and picked my green tomatoes and made salsa and canned it. It lasts on shelf for a couple of years with no problem
My mom would have stripped the plants of all peppers, and make pepper relish or chopped and froze them. She never liked to lose any produce.
Ahhh, so exciting to find your channel!!! Fellow Minnesotan here. I just have a little suburban backyard garden, but you are living my dream 💕
Hi neighbor! I’m so glad you found me!

The chili peppers are so beautiful. Congratulations on having such fertile land, and of course, your hands are very skilled

I’d love to hear how they work! I am in southwest MN and have always wanted cold frames but wasn’t sure if they were worth it here!

😮 with green tomatoes you can make a pie and it tastes just like apple pie.
Re peppers- surprisingly my cayenne did ripen to red after being picked. 😊
Awesome garden.

You should try pickling the green grape tomatoes!

I know you said 1 pumpkin plant produced 3 pumpkins. How many butternuts did you get by plant?
I haven’t counted the butternuts, but I had 7-8 plants in the garden and 2 over in the secret garden pile

The unripened tomatoes, What is the nutritional deficit?
I don't know how true this is, but I heard to take those leaves off the Brussel sprouts. Your leaves are covering the Brussel sprouts too much.
How do you keep the squirrels from eating your peppers? Mine disappear daily and it’s so frustrating
