Hey, I've been planning to change the sprocket on my scram 400x too. I'm just worried about something. When I asked the service manager at official triumph centre, he shocked me by saying that this mod will void my engine warranty. I have been an unlucky customer by facing too many issues with my scram. I've got fuel pump, handlebar replacement where I had to claim warranty. I just don't want a situation where I get some engine related issues and they don't let me claim warranty just because of a sprocket mod. I don't know how to deal with this because I am quite fed up of the vibrations on frequent highway touring. If you have any idea about this warranty situation, do let me know. BTW, I love your videos! Very informative!
440 is such a pathetic machine IMO 😅 just 1bhp extra from 411 with added 10kg weight. Makes no sense. They should’ve made a scrambler with the 450 engine instead. 400X is far superior to that platform. Cannot even compare
Hi bro.. I did the same change of changing to a 15 teeth sprocket around 2 months ago. But changed it back to 14 teeth sprocket last week. Here are my thoughts: I have a long commute to office and 70% of it is highway. So I wanted the engine to feel more relaxed while cruising on the highway at high speeds. So on changing it to a 15T sprocket, I got exactly that. The engine was smoother and I was able to ride at higher speed more comfortably and smoothly. HOWEVER, when it comes to smaller roads, hilly areas or the city or off roads, I felt the bike was a bit under powered. There was no fun in the bike. I felt like sometimes the bike was knocking at lower speeds, so I have to change the gear down to 1st gear in the cases where the 14T sprocket will handle it in 2nd gear. The bike felt calm.. but in a less fun and laggy way. I missed that fun I got from the scrambler with the old sprocket. The low end torque and the sudden acceleration was missing.. even though it was there, but dialed down. The only positive that I got from the 15T sprocket was that it was perfect for highway cruising and touring. But it will be less fun on Mountain roads or off roads where it needs more torque. Now with the 14T sprocket I'm having fun with my scrambler even though I have to sacrifice my high speed cruising on the highway. Peace ❤️ Cost for me to change : 251 for sprocket + 700 for labour.
Thanks for your feedback. We had no such issues in mountain roads (Ladakh) or in dirt track sessions. And the stock is 16T. 14T would make it even more touring focused if i'm not wrong.
@ Stock is actually 14T for the scrambler and 15T for the Speed. That's why the scrambler's gearing was shorter and had more torque done the rev range. If it was 16T, the final drive would become even more taller and it won't be suitable for the scrambler. The torque won't be enough to pull the bike. It might me good for Speed 400 and will behave like the Speed T4 but not for scrambler. The 15T would be good for commutes, but I think the 14T brings out the scrambler character of the bike since more torque == more fun 🌝 BTW.. loved ur ladakh videos. Expecting more travel vlogs machane 🌝❤️
I really love the peppiness of the engine now, I don't think I will switch to 15t. But very good informative video. When can we expect the review of those tyres you got.
Thanks mate. I might look into this. The fact that you can get the one from speed on to scrambler just makes it that much easier.
I have been planning to do so for the past 6 months but had my doubts now I am going to get it installed in my second service
Thank you for doing it
Hi I got a new Scrambler 400x 2 days ago. It's amazing but it does feel jerky at low end. So I will be changing it to 15T too at first service.

Nice job. I believe, you are the one, who can do a detail comparison video of Scrambler 400 X with Scram 440 . 😊
