For those of you who want hot cues to work as they do with a controller (ie: Hot cue starts track when held, stops when finger lifted). Quickest way I've found - Find Hot Cue you want to use, Hold platter with one hand (needs to be in vinyl mode I think), hit the Hot Cue, then hit the cue button. Now that Hot Cue will be "loaded" to the cue and it acts as a normal cue point instead of track just immediately playing!
Great tutorial. Thank you for putting this together, this is the most useful tutorial I've seen for DJs converting from Controllers (Traktor) to CDJs. Do you have a recommended tutorial on pitch / tempo shifting from one song to another on CDJs (with some sort of DJM in between)?
Thanks for your kind words. I try to keep my tutorials focussed on collection management and conversion so to answer your question: not that I'm aware off.
I have a Pioneer XDJ RR and a lot of my mp3's that I downloaded from youtube to mp3 play in rekordbox on my laptop but then don't work on my controler. Any ideas why? Seems to be a common issue. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the video. Quick question: should usb sticks be empty (and formatted) ? So if you have other stuff documents photos other music etc on the memory sticks will that cause any issues? 😊
I appreciate all of your tutorials. There is noCDJ option under preference in the newer Rekordbox update. How do we adjust these settings on the newer Rekordbox?
Great tutorial! I like the way you explained everything in details especially about hot cues and memory cues however I have a small question about memory cues (it wasn't shown on the video). Did you put memory in rekordbox before (I think it's logical but just double check)? And to make sure those cues are reflected on CDJ it is necessary to load the USB settings on CDJ, right? Otherwise my tracks will not have cues which I prepared in rekordbox? And the last thing regarding file formats...I noticed that files with .wave 44/24bit are not recognized on some CDJs although an official documentation says 44/24bit is supported file format. Well, I'm going to play AIFF tracks today and I hope the tracks will be recognized (fingers crossed).
You need to enable load auto cues on some CDJs. Those WAV files have a wrong tag internally, if you export them again (from audicity, Ableton, or whatever you fancy) they will work fine. But I recommend 320Kbs/44.1Khz/CBR/16bits MP3 for performance purposes
Good question! I use Mixed in key, in combination with a tool I developed named the Rekordbox Cue and Key tool (ReCK), see this tutorial ua-cam.com/video/gnpzju7JGlI/v-deo.html
Hi, I am having a weird issue occur when trying to export playlists (that contain hot cues) from Rekordbox to my CDJ formatted USB. I can only export to the usb in “performance mode” otherwise my cdjs say “rekordbox database not found”. When I export to my usb in performance mode and then put it into my cdjs, the tracks and hot cues are there and if I press the lit up hot cue buttons, it jumps to those hot cues. But if I press the call button to go to a hot cue my cdj says “no cue/loop point”. Do you know why this would be happening? I have tried to use the sync manager as well and it had the same problem on the CDJ. I would really appreciate any help🙏🏼

Very well made video, extremely helpful. I do have one question, under my preferences I dont see a CDj Device option, instead I see controller. How else can I configure the music so my comments show next to track name as you have it? Thanks
Great video, thanks! A question, having only played on rekordbox with a DDJ-400, how difficult will it be to get used to playing on a CDJ where the waveforms are not displayed on top of each other? Is it just a case of glancing from one CDJ to the other's interface rather than looking at the stacked waveforms?
Most people will tell you to get used to doing it by ear :D The CDJ doesn't know the master clock BPM until it's linked (with cat5 cable). When it's linked you can use sync, and you get the phase meter above the waveform - that's the little dancing dashes that show you how close the deck is to the master. If he were playing another track, you'd see the beats in that top row of orange dashes at 9:00. It also shows you how many bars till the next memory point. That's why experienced DJs don't care that much about setting hot cues. They know how many bars till the drop by looking at the number on the right of the phase meter. DJs who don't use headphones and don't use a laptop are probably looking at the phase meter. You can also just connect everything to your laptop with USB and run in Performance Mode with real CDJs if you want.
Help!! I have cdj2000 nxs just about week and for the first time ( had before cdj 400 ) I been using recorbox. I’ve bought sandisk extreme pro ssd USB 128gb and USB works fine with the computer but when inserted in cdj I get the message - format USB. I have formated USB on fat32 but I still getting the message to format USB!? I did drag and drop in recordbox to my USB and nothing - format USB message appears after putting USB in cdj What could be a reason for that? Should cdj recognise empty formatted USB disk as empty USB after formatting ?! USB on cdj works but only with my stick doesn't work. Sorry but can not find solutions nowhere
fromat it again and make sure that it's formatted MBR/FAT32. I'm MacOS only, and I assume you are on Windows. Have a look here www.reddit.com/r/Rekordbox/comments/ja6thu/fat_32_format_tool_for_exporting_xml_files/?context=3

Hey Mix Master, just wanted to check if I can get the Memory Cues the same as Hot Cues automatically when I am exporting tracks from Traktor to Rekordbox using DJCU. If not, then is doing this manually the only way?
DJCU conversion from Traktor to Rekordbox sets cues and loops as both hot- and memory. memory cues will not have any colors, that is a Rekordbox XML import limitation. Alternatively, the Rekordbox cue and Key tool (ReCK) can merge cues and loops from both the hot and memory bank and set them identical for existing Rekordbox users.
I can get the USB to sync but the ordered files in key I synced are all out of order when usb ejected, as if they have gone alphabetical rather than the order I choose. why is this ?
Mix Master G they are in order of key and also in number order so it goes 12345678...... the #numbers arnt jumbled either it’s all fine only when I export. I can’t re order them outside of rekordbox. And that’s when they become jumbled. On top of this when I try open on cdjs even in the jumbled order and they come up as missing files and can’t be opened (I’m using FAT32 USB)
Mix Master G yes I created playlist in rekordbox in the USB drop down section and then ordered them up there, then exported files to USB. When I check usb they are in a differant order, but when I check back on rekordbox the order I choose remains the same
@@unknownreacts5881 Create the playlist in the Rekordbox collection (not on the USB) and use the SyncManager to get that playlist on a USB. Ensure on the USB playlist you got the '#' column activated.
