    YAG laser destruction of a dense vitreous eye floater by 'The Floater Doctor'.
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
    The Floater Doctor, James H. Johnson M.D. is Medical Director of the only medical practice in the world specializing in, and exclusively treating bothersome spots, shadows, and clouds that affect your vision. Although common, especially changes such as posterior vitreous detachment (PVDs) as we age, these vitreous eye floaters are rarely offered treatment by your local and well qualified eye care providers, even at top specialty institutions. Dr. Johnson uses a specialized FDA-approved YAG laser to vaporize and destroy the proteins in the vitreous that are responsible for your spots, shadows, and moving blurred areas in your vision. He has been doing so since 2007 making him one of, if not the most experienced in the very specialty niche area in ophthalmology, a pioneer in this field.

    I visited Doc Johnson in Dallas Ft Worth a little over a year ago. Doc is super helpful and extremely professional. I had bothersome floaters in both eyes, which was getting in the way of my work. I spent three days visiting the clinic and in that time Dr Johnson absolutely sorted my floaters, much as you have seen in this clip. In my view you are wasting your time going anywhere else. He's not called the floater doctor for nothing. This is what he does. And does it very well indeed. Try not to worry if you have floaters,just get yourself here. Your problem will be over when you get here. OK? Right get saving.... get an air ticket and get yourself to Texas.

    Hi doctor and thank you in advance for all your time answering questions
    From one day to another after stressful times i realized i had plenty eye floaters and my life is worse now because is something that doesn't go away and i know for what ive read they dont go away
    Im currently 25 years old and ive foun about this surgery but i fear the floaters not going away or just multiplying in more smaller noticable floaters or maybe developing a worse condition due to the surgery.
    My question is: what are the reist of developing other conditions from this surgery and how likely are they to happen and have you gotten patiens that had them because of the laser?

    • @Thefloaterdoctor1
      @Thefloaterdoctor1  2 роки тому +2

      In the hands of someone with a lot of experience, the risks are very very low. The greater possibility is that you will not be candidate for treatment because of your young age. You might consider the low dose atropine program I offer. It is especially for younger floater-sufferers like you.

    hi i have many line floaters on bottom sides of eyes, usually i dont see them, but i do when looking at something light, im 34 y old. and one bigger spot on right eye middle. sometimes i have white light flash in morning when in bed and with closed eyes. how long would you estimate a laser surgery for me would take time and how much would it cost? do you think theyre caused by stress? ive had a lot of stress in last 15 years. or maybe sitting a lot in front of pc? i feel pressure in eyes from pc use for more than 30 min. i try to minimize it by taking 15 min breaks after every 45 min in front of pc. do you think its a good strategy for me to get a laser surgery now or maybe wait for later age?

    • @Thefloaterdoctor1
      @Thefloaterdoctor1  2 роки тому +4

      I can say that based on your younger age, you will be much less likely to be a candidate for treatment with the YAG laser. I don't think floaters are cause by use of the eyes, even with long stretched at the screen. Stress? Possible, but I don't think so. I do know that the typical Western diet is terrible for many different systems of the body. High carbs leading to metabolic syndrome and non-alcoholic fatty liver and artificial fats like 'vegetable' oils ( highly inflammatory) may be possible contributions or causes, but no one is studying this in relation to floaters.

    Hi. I’m 58 years old and I had IOL cataract surgery last year followed by a capsulotomy 1 month ago. After the capsulotomy I have a major cloudy flashy floater in my right eye. No retinal issues per the specialist. I would love to come see you, however I have RK eyes from 30 years ago. Would this cause an additional risk or a less than favorable outcome? I don't think anyone will be able to tell you the answer to the big question as to 'WHY' this has happened. Including myself. ? Are you eating clean? Reducing stress in your life? Making (mostly) good decisions about exercise and health? Avoiding highly processed food that are inflammatory? Treating your gut microbiome as welcomed guests in your gut. I don't know if it will prevent further disorganization of your vitreous/floaters, but it can be good for so much else. Are you aware of my low-doce atropine project created especially for younger floater sufferers? https:thefloaterdoctor.com/atropine

    I’ve eye floaters since childhood and they were really quite annoying. I wanted to ask : Do the floaters being zapped really vanished ? Or they were just separated to smaller parts?

    • @Thefloaterdoctor1

      It is both. Because you do not see the floaters themselves but are instead aware of the shadows they cast onto the retina, some very small floaters (or fragments) may not be noticeable or as bothersome.

      Had to look it up. It appears Surma is a black powder for the eyes used ceremonially in Punjab. Are you getting concretions in/under the eyelids? There are layers of barriers to the vitreous. None of that would get into the vitreous. I think the floaters is a separate issue. There is no way to predict if floaters will get worse, or better, or remain stable over time.

      The steroids would not normally be indicated for typical floaters unless they were associated with a true and diagnosed inflammatory condition. There are side effects of steroids one of which can cause elevated pressures and some people as well as cataracts if used for extended periods of time. If you are seeing peripheral flashes of light it could be a relatively common posterior vitreous detachment, but the usual recommendation is to get a good dilated examination to make sure that there's no peripheral retinal hole, tear, or detachment.

      A new lens would fix the problem of a cataract. I think you are referring to the surgical treatment of removing the vitreous fluid entirely to remove the floaters. THAT has a very high rate of causing cataracts. Although it is possible to create a traumatic cataract with the laser, it can be avoided with experience and good judgment. I've fired the laser more than 20 Millions times and have not caused a cataract.
      re: Glaucoma. That is a chronic condition associated with elevated eye pressures over time that cause optic nerve tissue loss. I will have a couple patients a year develop a reactive secondary elevated eye pressure that may need eye drops treatment for a few months, but eye pressure will eventually normalize.

      So Floater Laser Treatment can cause Glaucoma?
      Or does that only happen if the treating doctor is inexperienced?

      Safe. IF the doctor has experience and through that experience makes good decisions. Sometime the best decision, unfortunately, is to say "No", I can't treat you.

    • @Thefloaterdoctor1
      @Thefloaterdoctor1  4 роки тому

      I don't think so. The presence of floaters is a problem of not enough collagen and ingested collagen would not make its way into the vitreous space anyways.

    it dissolves and the organism absorbs it, it has risks.

    • @Thefloaterdoctor1
      @Thefloaterdoctor1  2 роки тому +1

      What dissolves? Floaters dissolve on their own?
      No, actually they don't.
      Risks? Yup. Everything has risk and I clearly discuss risks in my videos, on my web site, in person, and in the informed consent form.
      Do you drive a car? Risks!
      Fly in a plane? Risks!
      Eat food? Risks!
      In a relationship? Risks
      The issue is not: "Do risks exist?" It is more of a "Do the potential benefits well outweigh the risks". For the vast majority of my patients, the benefits outweigh the risks.
      I try to answer all the comments here, but give me something to work with.

    Hello doctor,
    Thank you for this video.
    I am 39 years old and have been experiencing a big floating wavy lines in both eyes after lasik surgery since 4 months. They are quite annoying and visible in almost any lighting condition. Also it seems that I have a posterior vitreous detachment associated .
    Do you think that this type of floaters are good candidates for Yag laser? And is it still possible that they disappear on their own? Thank you

    • @Thefloaterdoctor1
      @Thefloaterdoctor1  2 роки тому +1

      Based on any description here, I can not know the type, location, distribution, or overall treatability of your floaters, or even whether there has been a true anatomical PVD. There too many variables in play. Ultimately, it does take an in-person evaluation with me as inconvenient as that may be.

      Yes, It is called a vitrectomy, but that procedure has a very high rate of cataract as a complication/expectation.
