I see that the torque for the head bolts is 26ft lbs and then additional 180 degrees, can anyone confirm? and do you do the 180 degrees all in one turn or in multiple stages? any help is appreciated
This is what I copied from the service Manuel INSTALL HEAD SUB-ASSY, CYLINDER (a) Place the cylinder head on the cylinder block. HINT: The cylinder head bolts are tightened in 2 progressive steps (b) Apply a light coat of engine oil to the threads and under the heads of the cylinder head bolts. (c) Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, install and uniformly tighten the 10 cylinder head bolts with the plate washers, in several passes in the sequence shown. Torque: 35 N•m (357 kgf-cm, 26 ft Ibf) (d) Mark the front of each cylinder head bolt with paint. (e) Retighten the cylinder head bolts by 180° in the sequence order shown. (f) Check that the paint mark on each bolt is at a 180° angle to the original position.
@Built By Jack That's good. I'd like to recommend editing the video maybe. I did stop watching pretty early due to that. It's good that you learn from your mistakes, and accepting correction is a mark of competence and maturity. It maybe better to address it where it occurs so rookies don't get the wrong idea and new viewers don't get put off. I will go back and watch the rest.
Rebuilding a 2zz in my Spyder. Good info in the video
Good work, a buddy and I are rebuilding a 2zz now for an Exige. Thanks for the video!
That’s awesome, good luck I hope everything goes smoothly.
Brilliant work. Don't lubricate the under side of crank bearings though
Yup your totally right.
Was about to say the same thing!! Increase risk of spun bearing!
Next time lower the volume of the music, impossible to hear what you are saying.
Absolutely stunning work !!! 🔥🔥🔥 love the look 😍 can't wait for the next episode. Thank you for sharing bro 👍🏽
Thank you
Awesome setup there and well put together man, glad you kept the 2zz motor 😁
Thanks man!
Video great ! Only problem I have is the music playing when you are talking. Other then that great video
Thanks for the feedback I always appreciate constructive criticism.
How do you know how to build a engine at your age. I'm impressed 👍
I just started with dirt bikes and quads when I was younger and it went from there.
Lovely job!
What was the total cost to built the 2zz and how much hp/torque did it make?
nice job bro after christmas break my time will come too...fingers crossed:)
Good luck hope it all goes well.
New pistons, forged and balanced?
Yes
Where did you get all the info on torque specs and bolt pattern for the heads? Did you buy a rebuild book?
You can get the book online as a pdf.
Great job Jack! Approx how much was the build cost? Thanks!
About $7500
Are you going to do a install video ?

Sorry buddy the piston heads you replaced ,is it still the standard piston or you running different piston with different compression ratio?
Yes they are 82mm pistons with 12.1 compression.
Mate this pistons can wotk with oem factory ecu right? Only needs 98ron> fuel?@Built_By_Jack
Wish the guy could share some knowledge.
Where are you? I need my seals replaced on MY 2ZZ- it has several oil leaks and the VVTLI doesn't work.
Wisconsin, but I don’t typically do work for other people.
what were your shim lash clearance set at do you remember?!? im trying to make sure i have mine set right the internet says factory spec is too tight
Unfortunately I don’t remember exactly what it was
Brand of the crankshaft pulley? And where you got it. Thx
OBX is the brand and you can get it off eBay.
@@Built_By_Jack thx
I'm a begginer, what's the substance you used on 1:00 ?
Assembly lube.
Do you have a new video with the 2zz install ?
Working on it.
@@Built_By_Jack You did a very nice job ! I have a 04' 2zz swap in my Pontiac Vibe base (1zz) 2003 . Those engine are so fun :) Keep up the good work
can you make a wiring step by step
I’ll try to remember to go over it in the next video.
Are you putting assembly lube behind the bearing shell? Wtf?
This is not the proper way to build an engine.
I addressed it later in the video. It was disassembled and removed and then reassembled.

what pistons are you using
Wiseco
@@Built_By_Jack that much i saw. What compression ratio? Did you sleeve the block too?
Music too loud, can't hear you.
My bad I’ll try to fix it in the next one thanks for the input though.
Why not kswap or 2ar in the Mrs? Great content got skills
Because kswap and 2ar are more expensive and time consuming and I got this engine and trans for next to nothing.
@@Built_By_Jack you think a stroker 2.0 2zz will be as good as a k20? Yeah your right half the price of both the 2zz swap.
@@rolldog82 depends on how much power your trying to make but yes probable.
@@Built_By_Jack what about turbo application 2zz vs k20? I had sr20 before I always love the boost power.
If your trying to go over 300 horsepower probably k20
did you sleeve?
Yes the block was sleeved.
@@Built_By_Jackdarton sleeves? Which shop sleeved the block for you?
@@kingkong-vz9wl yes Darton sleeves. Monkey wrench racing sleeved it for me.
@@Built_By_Jack ok thanks bro. Somehow I think darton does the work for MWR too 🤔
@@kingkong-vz9wl you could be right I’m not sure.
Bruh wtf don't lube under the bearings!
Yes you’re right, I caught myself later in the video and disassembled it and removed it from the back side of the bearing.
Estos motores no son muy rápidos
