- If you have No Dash lights, No crank, No Start & the truck is dead, check these wires and fuse. I'll post a follow up video on how to repair the wire assembly when I get a chance.
Depending on your year do this search " Nissan Link Fusible " (make sure you put Link BEFORE Fusible), and by the one that looks like yours. You should be able to find the harness you need.
Part 2 on how to temporarily fix the link until you can get a replacement is here: • 1989-1997 Pathfinder D...

Saved me from being stranded. I did a quick search, found your video. I had headlights and no inside power. Turned out a broke wire going to the fusible link. Connected that wire, and off I went.
Now that's why I make these videos. I'm so glad the video helped you out. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
@Keith Noneya, FYI: The same connector plugs and setup on your Pathfinder are the same on my 1995 Nissan/Datsun Truck Pickup 2WD 2.4L MFI SOHC 4cyl. I appreciate you posting this. I was having issues with intermitting dash lights, the fuel gage, water temp gage, brake lights, blinkers, and the dome light. Like yours, two wires were burnt, so there was zero connectivity. Your insight and experience helped me resolve the problem, so thank you again.
Yeah it took me awhile to figure it out too, so I made this for everyone. Thanks for the thanks. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
I recently bought a 97 Nissan Pathfinder se and I ran into a similar problem with mine and it was very helpful to get closer to my problem.
Glad it helped. If you go into the video description there's a link where you can download the Factory Service Manual. Thanks for watching. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
I had to come back to your video and thank you for the help, I’m new to working on vehicles so I’ve been trying to do it on my own but I couldn’t figure it out and you came in and saved the day
Glad I could help. Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I guess after I wrote my response I must have changed pages before I sent the reply. Hope all is well. Thanks for watching and again glad to help. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
You are my hero! I found a loose connection at that positive connection! Thanks for your help!
So glad to help! I know what it's like to drive an older car and that it's not only hard to find parts. But to pay someone to fix it is often well out of someones budget who drive these old cars. A great thanks would be to subscribe even if you don't come back again. I have a whole playlist just on this vehicle if you need more repairs. Thanks so much for watching. Best wishes & Blessings. Thanks, wiggled it a little and it fired right up
You're welcome Cameron. If you had to wiggle it to get it started check the connections for corrosion. If they are free of corrosion then look in the video description and use the part number there to locate one on eBay for under $10.00 bucks. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya on UA-cam
Wow Thanks! Worked, and saved a lot of time! Aloha!
That's why I make em. LOL If you need more video on this vehicle I also have a playlist of D21 Pathfinder videos here: ua-cam.com/video/rkOnvgmXq7A/v-deo.html Thanks for watching the the thanks. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
Have a 95 pathfinder just started driving, my ignition switch isnt going, im hearing a clicking sound and i have battery power but no start. Do i get a new ignition switch?
Hi Robert, a clicking sound it a general sign that your batteries are not fully charged. This can happen when they wear out or the Alternator has gone bad and won't charge the batteries. Another cause is the battery cable terminals are corroded and you're not getting a good connection, which also will stop the alternator from properly charging the batteries. So before you flip the bill on a new ignition switch check the battery connections, that the alternator is putting out by jumping the car and starting it. Then with it running pull the battery cable off and see if the car stays running. If it does the alternator is most likely still good. Then charge your batteries and see if that solves your problem. When changing an Alternator it's always a good idea to fully charge the batteries before you start the car. Hope that helps give you some ideas to save you some money. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

Thank u for the info. I’m dealing with the same problem . I’ll check that out.
Sorry to hear that. I took me about an hour to track it down and get it figured it out. You can still purchase these links if you can't repair or find one in a wrecking yard. You can also just cut the connector off and use crimp on spade and bayonet style terminals to jumper them directly. Since they are ALL positive even if you mix them up it will still work. Hope all goes well, & let me know if I can help. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

Hey Keith......Great video. Mine has a new battery and is fully charged. Turn the key and nothing. Battery indicates full charge. Could it be the Relay?
If you have checked the two Fusible link harnesses in the video, and they are good, there are a lot of things it can be. Here’s a list of items it can be:
1. Bad Starter or Solenoid.
2. Bad or Miss Aligned Inhibitor Switch commonly called Safety Neutral Switch, or PRNDL Switch.
3. A blown fuse, or Fusible Link. Very common with a dead car, no dash lights, head lights, or interior light and a no start or crank.
4. A Bad Starter Relay.
Here’s some quick instructions to help diagnose the two most common items in older vehicles.
- Put the car in park or neutral if you have a manual. Press the brake and tap on the starter with a hammer or long breaker bar while you have someone try to start the car. Please make sure the car is in park or neutral when doing this, you don’t want to car to jump and hit you or something. You should be able to access the starter from the top on the passenger side with the hood open.
- If it starts you probably have a bad starter or solenoid, change them.
- Put the car in Park and try and wiggle the Automatic Gear Shifter while trying to start it. If it starts then you have a miss aligned or worn Inhibitor Switch. Commonly known as the Neutral Safety Switch or PRNDL Switch. It’s located on the side of the transmission.
- Put the car in Neutral and step on the brake and see if it starts. If it does try starting it in Park and Neutral several time. If it only starts consistently in Neutral then you have a bad or miss aligned Inhibitor Switch If you have a Standard (Manual) Transmission you may have a bad Neutral Safety Switch connected to the Clutch up under the dash. Miss alignment of the Inhibitor Switch is common when you’ve recently had a transmission change.
- If it doesn’t start then it can be one of the items I listed above. You can download the El section of the Factory Service Manual here: www.nicoclub.com/service-manual?fsm=Pathfinder%2F1995%2Fel.pdf and use it to try and diagnose the problem. In the manual there are wiring diagrams, complete with where the wiring harness connectors and parts are located in the car. This is assuming you have an early 94-95 Pathfinder. If not you can download your Factory Service Manual here for free: www.nicoclub.com/nissan-service-manuals
- Hope this helps point you in the right direction. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
@@keithnoneya I am having this same issue. (1988 SEv6 pathfinder: Manual trans)I just had the clutch replaced. In your reply above you make reference to having an issue with the inhibitor switch if the transmission was recently changed. Could it be that issue since the clutch requires the transmission to be disconnected from the motor?
@@bigmikesproducts Hey Mike, the Safety Neutral Switch could be your problem. Go to the Factory Service Manual link to the EL Section and download it. I know it's for a 95 but they don't change them that much. It will give you an Idea on how Nissan Engineers think and point you in the right direction. Here's the link to the PDF EL section for you to download; www.nicoclub.com/service-manual?fsm=Pathfinder%2F1995%2Fel.pdf
You can also buy the Haynes Manual on your truck it's PN 771 or you can pick up the Chilton one PN 8585. In the Chilton's it's on page 6-56 on top. Also look at pages 6-46 & 6-47. In the Haynes go to page 13-22 on top. They'll be a wiring diagram of the relays and switches to check. The fusible link for the 88 should be check 1st, they feed power to the Ignition switch and fuse box assembly to power the vehicle. Make sure and unplug them and check to see if you have power on the connector like I show in my video. The main relays and switches you need to worry about are the (Starter Relay) called the Interlock and the Clutch Interlock Switch above the Clutch Peddle. I think the Clutch peddle arm up on top, like the brake pedal arm, has a rubble grommet. Sometimes they rot out and don't push the switch. In the case of the brake pedal grommet they fall out and the Brake lights won't go off. Anyways the Clutch Switch should be on the brake peddle bracket but on the clutch side just above the clutch peddle. Sorry I don't know where the Manual Interlock Relay is. Hope this helps point you in the right direction. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya PS according to the 94 manual the relay is next to the Power Steering Reservoir on page EL-76. Keith
At 2:10 you said to check a 15 amp fuse.... what is that fuse for?
Hi Hector, I believe it was a Factory Recall Updated later because I can't find it in the EL section of the Factory Service Manual. I don't know what system it's associated with, so since people are right there I ask them to check that fuse. One things for sure if it is bad something else is mostly not to work. I put several links in the description, but if you need the EL (Electrical System Section) of the manual here's the link from the description. www.nicoclub.com/service-manual?fsm=Pathfinder%2F1995%2Fel.pdf Let me know if I can answer any more questions. Not an expert on these vehicles, but I know more than most folks on UA-cam. Mine get lights and all, but just no start. Ive tried and checked mostly everything else. Getting done with it i miss my f150😢
Cranks over no start, or no crank no start?

So what does the other plug with the orange wires do?
They are actually faded brown wires. Two of them go to the ECCS (Electronic Control System Module) and the other one goes to either the Pathfinder (Wagon) Daytime Light Control Unit or if a truck goes to the Audio. Don't ask me to explain it, I didn't draw the wiring diagram. You can see it in the EL.pdf section of the Factory Service Manual here: www.nicoclub.com/service-manual?fsm=Pathfinder/1995/el.pdf Go to pdf page 3. You can find the Fusible Links on the bottom left of the schematic right above the Battery. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching. Best Wishes and Blessings. Keith Noneya
THX Keith!!!! as i mentioned in the other video something appeared to be missing on my 93 and it appears someone has stolen my fuse-able links as they are missing on my vehicle and i guess that's exactly why i have no crank or power to the inside of the vehicle.. any ideas where i could find a replacement? i'm way up in northern Canada here in Yellowknife and those kind of things are very scarce.. i tried a search online with no luck.. maybe i'm using the wrong terminology in my search.. any and all help is greatly appreciated.. THX again
Have an electrician build you a set. You won't have the connector part but at least you can just push them on the connector pins. I would hit the forums, someone will have one off an old truck. Try this link and seller on eBay item number 254358605576. Also in your search try Nissan Link Fusible. If it gets down to you can find it just cut the wires and put ring connectors on them and bolt them to the battery terminal. At least you'll have a running truck.
I'll keep looking around. If I get time I'll take some measurement of the connector pins on my 95, they should be similar in size. With that info you can have an electrician build you a push on set. Keep me informed. Would love to be in Yellow Knife with you. I'd love to go check out the aircraft at Buffalo Airlines. "ICE Pilots" Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
Try this search on eBay a lot of stuff came up. "1993 nissan Genuine Nissan Link Fusible"

@@stephanierobertson7111 Oh girl that is so COOL! Did you make it into any of the shows? Yes there are two links that you need. Sorry unless you find one you're going to have to just make some up with some crimp on connectors. I would use the 10 gauge crimps with 14 gauge wires. Electrically they ALL just route 12vdc from the battery terminal to the other end. So even the ones on eBay, if they are not the right part number probably because of the plastic part ONLY will probably fit. If not just release the wires from the connectors and use the crimp and wire part. Just push them onto the two ends of where they come from, the battery connector, and the other end.
Don't be shy about commenting, I love talking to folks all over the world, it's fun for me. Anyways get back with me and let me know if I can do anything else for you. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

Try looking up this number in the search on eBay 254358605576.

I cut them all off and crimped in the gray fusible link wire and small connectors that I could connect to the positive terminal and bolt it down ..about six years later it got corroded and went to a no crank all over again right where the connectors are .
Yeah they do sit right there where the battery terminals are. After you fix them, try cleaning the flux off with some Isopropyl Alcohol and put some Silicon Grease in the connectors the keep the moisture and acid from attacking the metal. That should hold them for a little longer. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
