    i have a gold Merkur 37G where were discontinued and echo your sentiments. I like your reviews in a growing crowd of wet shaving videos, you are creating a corner of your own. I love looking at your reviews which are pretty accurate and not so fan boyish like a few others out there !!
    What stands out to me is the focus on the product and fast forwarding the non-essential stuff which holds attention to the main item in review. Love that about your videos and do keep that up.

    I think I might like one of those at some stage - I am loving the Merkur short handles and a slant looks like time machine to me (a time saver) - it'll get you DFS with little effort and probably less irritation over all.

    Nice review. I have also got my 37C a week ago and it is really smooth razor.
    But you must have soft hair, because with just 1 WTG I dont get even close to BBS.
    I must perform WTG, XTG and ATG, then sometimes also corrections - I have a "metal brush" beard.
    But its really better for me than the standard close comb razor like R89.

    Just shaved with my new Merkur 39c slant and what an amazing shave. Razorock XXX, Captains choice lime AS, and Gillette 7 o'clock super platinum black wrapper blade. Perfect shave, no nicks or issues until the last pass and the slant bit a mole on my lip. Never nicked it DE shaving or straight shaving and this puppy bit me. Definitely more aggressive. Alum block stung a tiny bit on the chin, but otherwise perfect.

    Moderately thick beard but fast growing. Using a Dorco 301 blade in the 37C in 2 passes (WTG & ATG) I get BBS. The Dorco 301 lasts me 4 good shaves and 1 acceptable shave. I toss the blade after 4 since they are so cheap. With a Personna lab blue I can get 5 to 6 good shaves but need to be more careful since the Dorco 301 is more forgiving. I do not find that the blade dulls quicker in the 37c. Instead I find the blade more less gracefully dulled, if that makes any sense. In other words, the drop off from a good shave to a dull-bad shave is much more steep in the slant vs a straight bar for me.

    Nick, I'm new to DE razors, and my switch from cartridge was mainly to reduce/eliminate a little neck irritation I get from shaving. After 1 week or so, I notice the redness has reduced, but not completely eliminated. Do you have any piece of advice for me? Do you think the 37c would help me on this matter, since I can go for a single pass?

    • @nickshaves
      @nickshaves  10 років тому +2
