- Welcome to Episode 9 of Geofatboy’s Everyday Shave! The razor featured is the Merkur 37C Slant Bar Safety Razor. This is a very efficient and aggressive shaving razor that might even have the ability to remove a mustache or heavy beard growth in just a few strokes! We know that many of you need to shave every day for your jobs. Geo comes through with this new series where on 1 or 2 day’s beard growth, he will select a razor, describe it, cover the razor specs, and perform a quick working man’s type shave, and then comment about the Razor and also give the razor an Aggression Rating from 1-10. This enables you to get an idea how each particular razor will perform for you. This will help you when considering a razor to purchase. The 37c is my favourite razor; paired with a 7o'Clock yellow gives a clean baby smooth shave.

I use the exact same combo as well paired with proraso sensitive soap.
This is a fun series to watch. That look on your face was too funny when you started the second pass using the bladeless 34C.
One of those Oops Moments!
First of all let me say your videos are terrific. Now concerning the 37 C ; I just bought one and found it very satisfactory. Maybe it’s because I shave every day, but I can’t see any difference between the 37c and the 34. Of course there is a visible difference, but if there is a difference in performance, it is imperceptible.
Hey geo, just a idea I would like to recommend. I saw a UA-cam video of a shaving mystery box for $50 and it had lots of good items in it. Maybe you guys at shave Nation could do some type of mystery box. Just an idea. Have a great day geo!

Yeah , I bought it . The best I have ever had .
I like my Mekur 34c as it's my favorite of the razors I have now. Gives me a really nice shave without beating up my face. I think my next razor will be the 37c Slant Bar and so how that works for me. I really like the 2 piece design.

I have been shaving male customers beard for more than 40 years as a professional barber in Japan Northern atea.
And I only use a straight razor created by Feather company.
Most of them usually fall in sleep and smoring during getting shaving by me. But each customer's skin condition or grain direction are totally different due to their age or health condition. So I will study and learn how to shave well each day.
I'm a female barber means no beard.
I want to step up to be a professional.
In Japan , we apply the shaving for ladies , too. Feather company has created a special razor blade for lady's shaving. It is amazing blade I have ever used. I'm really interested in the tools and the way shaving you showed us. Thank you.

Actually, I use Artist club DX and SS.
My favorite is DX and I have two.
One is for male beard and another is for lady's. I had compared some of razors or blades during my barber life. Feather has 5 kinds of blade and I love the best "Pro Guard" for male shaving.
Also "Soft Guard" for lady's.
I haven't gotten any trouble after shaving since I chose them.
And this is my particular thinking about hygienic. I always change the new blade for each customer.
Because I manage the barbershop all by myself so if someone would have a skin trouble , it will be my fault definitely. So I have been focusing to be hygienic.
I love how sharp and the 2 piece design of the 37 C Slant!

@@geofatboy - Heck yeah it is! I love using Tabac shave soap, but the new version doesn't have tallow! All these good, old tallow shave soaps are disappearing!

Not sure if I could describe the 37C as aggressive tbh. I found it be efficient but mild. I have sensitive skin and generally use a mild razor for this reason. However, I got zero irritation using this 37C with a BIC blade and was even able to against the grain on my face. It’s incredible at removing a couple days growth. I could even get away with using it everyday. Eventually I returned mine because I had long term concerns over consistent blade reveal, blade tabs not being covered, razor durability.

For some reason I don‘t manage to get my chin and cheek area baby smooth. There‘s a beard shadow on these areas where you can feel the bone even though I follow your guidelines. I guess I have a sensitive skin because I always cut myself although I don‘t use too much pressure. Do you think the blade might be the reason for the imperfect shave? I use a blade by the German company "Störtebekker“
My first safety razor was an Edwin Jagger 89 DE. I deteriorated ot by tightening it too much. Now I own a Wilkinson Sword Classic(the black one). Would the Merkur 37c be a good option for my third safety razor?

@@geofatboy but which one is the most aggressive? I can only shave Shavette with gillette nacet blades or gillette super platinum or gillette sharp edge blades. All other blades are too dull and the Mühle 41 does not give me a comfortable shave. His aggressiveness is too small, it hurts me to shave with him.

I have the Fatip lo storto open slant. It certainly is more aggressive than 37C.
The 37C is no way near to be called aggressive. It is very mild nut very efficient at the same time. I love it.
Step up in aggression would be (very small increments) : Parker Semislant, Razorock German 37.

@@okiedokie_cool I have both razors and In my opinion the Parker is more aggressive of the two.
@@okiedokie_cool What Dave said is true. I have both as well. Watch a video of Matt from Razor Emporium shaving comparison between the two. He says Parker Semi gave a slightly closer shave. Parker Semi is fantastic. Try pairing it with a Voskhod blade. Perfect for those with sensitive skin.
