it's not really about isolation, looks like the wifi chip wasn't properly soldered in a whole batch of G4's, so you have to push it against the board with some paper or some plastic to make it work again... it's a quick and dirty solution of course but not everybody has electronics level soldering equipment to re-solder the thing lol
