The car turned out great. Great job. Its sad that it will be trailer queen. That car should be driven and enjoyed every day.

Ya never know. The more I work out the kinks and make the reliability better, the more I do want to drive it.

Thanks Jim, for taking us along on your quest to have what may be the Sweetest FF Hot Rod out there. But more than that thanks for sharing your personal and inspiring story. It's nothing short of amazing what you can do with the right frame of mind. You have proved that to all of us.
How far east are you planning on going in the 2024 show season?

Wow, Thank you Alex. Very kind. The Car Show thing is all new to me so I am slowly working my way out of town little by little till I feel comfortable hauling this beast of a trailer. AZ for right now. FFR Huntington Beach if it happens again. Then go from there.

OEM or LS7 hydronic lifters in LS engines can and will tick. Especially if the car has sat a bit or start up after an oil change. It takes them a bit to pump up after the engine builds oil pressure.
I have built them with “LS7” lifters from BTR and Texas speed that still did it. The Entry level ones buy a company called Morel has direct drop in replacements that are quite and better quality imo.
They’re only a few hundred bucks…. If you build another engine maybe consider it…. The Lifter you have are fine and will last forever. I know guys that are using them and making 1000+ HP in their drag cars.
    They’re just a bit noisy.
I’ve been wanting to build one of these cars for years. I was excited when they announced the steel body’s. It’s a shame they didn’t get the bugs worked out.

What battery maintainer did you end up going with? Have you seen where people bring batteries back to life with a welder?

Regarding your Fiberglass quality question...I got my body in April '23...still pretty poor quality. I don't think they make these in-house like they do their cobra bodies. In doing so, quality is some of the worst I've seen from fiberglass parts. I haven't got to the bodywork stages yet but I'm mentally preparing based on what I have that it's going to be pretty bad..

Optima batteries are actually Junk! Ive owned 4 of them over the years in different rigs and had issues with every single one and ive had friends that had them and had issues also! They are overrated trash! Ill never own another one! Im currently using Odysseys and had really good luck!

I have had really good luck with red top Optima's. Usually batteries wont last after 3 discharges and I have had my Optimas last over 5 years with multiple discharges. The one in my Chevelle now was bought in 2018 ...I thought I would have to replace it a couple of years ago and its still working.
