Wow, UA-cam. First you only offered 360p. Then I come back a few hours later and now I can't even select that, the only choices available are 720/1080p.
The toy balloon has existed since Roman times - children would inflate pig's bladders and use them as balls. The modern, lighter than air variety was invented by Michael Faraday in 1824, and the first mass-produced latex toy balloons filled with lighter-than air helium were sold the next year by a toy producer who had read about Faraday's invention. So 1800 is a bit too soon for a modern toy balloon, but not by much.
That's interesting. It's important to note Anno 1800 isn't set in 1800, the game starts at 1800 and progresses into the 1900s since you get gain tech throughout the game and get cars and battleships later.
Watching this whilst I wait for all the DLC to finish downloading. I was so disappointed by most of their space age games and frequently revisited Anno 1602 on my old CD. Seeing all the similarities from that game to this one makes me excited as heck to play.
I love how duncan and the boys are acting like a 3:2:1:1 ratio for beer is really complex and then there's me playing factorio with my 4:5:48:83:480 ratio for optimum nuclear power production (for those of you who are curious, the ratio for nuclear power is: 4 reactors to 5 water pumps to 48 heaters to 83 turbines to 480 Megawatts of power. Simple enough.)
I think that 1800 could be considered part of the colonial period. The Scramble for Africa began in 1880, and Europeans were still establishing other new colonies like Tasmania and New Zealand in the 1800s. Not to mention Russia was hard at work settling Siberia, and the Homesteading Acts wouldn't kick off in America until the 1860s.
I find that absolutely bizarre and quite possibly one of the factors in the many problems of today that people view animals above other people. Yea, pets can be great and some people can be dickheads but it's ridiculous people comparing the two; people are obviously more important in general. I don't think Daltos's comparison was a fair one as he was comparing a dickhead person to a friendly/pet animal, which is different to farm animals or other animals, when really the choice should be between whether or not you would shoot or save a dickhead animal or a dickhead person or likewise would you shoot or save the family pet or a family member. Compassion like Daltos shows for the animals is fine and is actually something we need more of but it should be tempered by an increasingly less common thing nowadays common sense. You have to or at least it is advisable that you temper your feelings/emotions with reason and fact. Just because you feel a certain way doesn't mean you waste a lot of resources to satisfy that feeling. In the case of Daltos, that would be yea dogs are great and can be very helpful but you can't nor should you try fixing all of them. Lewis makes a good point in this regard as to how much time, energy, people power, money etc.. would it cost and how much return do you get, not only that but what if said dog has savaged or killed 1 or a number of "innocent" people. By "innocent" I mean people minding their own business who get attacked, like a baby for example, as opposed to a burglar getting attacked or killed by a guard dog while breaking in somewhere in that case the dog is just doing their job/what they've taught to do so that's fair enough. In the case of a dog savaging or killing an "innocent" surely they should be put down? Yes, dogs who have been abused or who have been taught to be violent, like dog fighting type thing, are different but again the thing is you can't save all of them. I realise this is a bit of a rather useless rant but Daltos often talks nonsense that sometimes you just have to rant about it :P

"It's nice to be back in a medieval setting"
Apparently Lewis thinks 1800 was the medieval period. He's only out by about 500 years.
maybe Lewis think that any year before he was born is medieval.
Even 1300 would be late medieval, but yeah Lewis knows fuck all about anything unfortunately
He studied geography not history in highschool.
As everybody knows the medieval ages ends in 1453.
the geo guesser session was GOLD

The visuals have a nice Banished feel to them. For Anno I mean.
