    Thanks for the step-by-step! I've a 2016 sportsman 850 sp and am not really wanting to have to take it to the dealer and leave it for a month just so they can service it. This will save me some money, too.

    On the rare machine that has the filter vertical like this one you can fill the oil filter with oil before you install it..the oil light will go out much sooner saving more wear and tear on the engine than many miles of riding,....thanks for the video

      Darn right! Nothing beats the sound of an engine growling after you've been tinkering with it. Whether it's a full top-end rebuild or just an oil change, the sounds just as sweet.

    My 2011 Sportsman 850 is geting engine oil in the air box, what would you recommend? Replacement of the PCV?

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  7 років тому +1

      Greg, Check compression. You're probably getting a bunch of blow by that's forcing oil into the breather line to the intake.

      I have a 2011 850xp also. Yes change the pvc system. There is a new laberith oil update for the pvc system. It's about $65 or so. You will have to have Polaris look it up in the computer unless you can find the part number. Sorry I don't have it on hand anymore. Hope this helps.

    When you replaced the air filter, was there any oil in the air box? The reason I ask is there was oil in my air box. How is the oil getting in there? Is there a seal that I'm not aware? Thanks in advance

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  6 років тому

      You can get some blow back that will cause a little oil to get in the air box. Just double check that you are not over filled.

    Great video. I appreciate it. Quick question...driving my 850 this weekend for about 15 mins at sustained speed of 30 mph (was about 80 degrees out and driving on a blacktop road). All of the sudden started losing power. Let it rest overnight and then worked fine. Any hint of what may be going on?

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  7 років тому +2

      This can be tough to diagnose. It's definitely a heat issue. Clean out the radiator and make sure you're getting good airflow, then airbox and filter. It could be vapor lock if your fuel lines are over heating. It could be a clutch issue. It's all about running through all the options and eliminating things one by one.

    • @mgaarder1
      @mgaarder1 7 років тому

    I have an 850 touring eps. At low speed in high range I have what appears to be a clutch squeal or maybe belt. It is ok when get over 20 km/ hr. Do you have any idea what may be the cause, alignment between clutches, belt clutch itself etc? What can I do to rectify the annoying noise?

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  7 років тому

      It's really hard to diagnose something like that over the internet. It could be a belt is going bad or something more serious in the clutch. You can crack into it and inspect the belts, or take it somewhere just to diagnose the issue and go from there.

    • @brianthompson6647

      Low gear is for low speed. Under 10mph in High gear you are eating your belt.

    • @PartzillaParts

      +Francine Dailey: We fill our XP 850 right into the dipstick hole (see oil filling part of the video: ua-cam.com/video/A4qCLaohlOM/v-deo.htmlm40s). Under the seat is where you'll be installing your clean air filter.

    my 2011 polaris sportsman 850xp eps leaked oil from the engine block. the original owners only did 1 oil change and it was with a terrible brand. i went ahead and did a oil change with the polaris extreme duty oil change kit. it had stopped leaking from there on, was that the reason it leaked?

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  7 років тому

      It is possible that with a cheap underweight oil, it managed to find some areas to seep out of. Using the proper engine oil is essential. Hopefully, that correct oil does the trick!

  • @scotty-jn7uo
    @scotty-jn7uo 7 років тому

    So you don't have to spray oil on that filter??

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  7 років тому

      With the paper OEM filters, do not apply oil. Some aftermarket filters and foam filters get oiled. These machines will run both types.

    • @scotty-jn7uo
      @scotty-jn7uo 7 років тому

      Partzilla are foam filters better? If so can I get a foam filter that fits my quad?? Another question can I use k&n filter oil to oil foam filters on my quads??

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  7 років тому

      There are some foam filters on the market for this ATV. (We're assuming you have a Sportsman 850.) www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/aftermarket/XP-4797769.html
      Double check this is the correct application for your vehicle.
      As for the oil, K&N Filter oil is made for a different filter material, so we wouldn't recommend using it on a foam filter. Get a good foam specific oil. There are a ton of brands out there. They are designed to be a little more sticky so the oil won't leak into your airbox as much and helps catch more fine sand.
