Pulse width is too big. If your pulse is at 30ns then your pulse will be 3 metres long, any events in that area will be shown as just one event and not individual events.
@@moatazasadek No it won't. You will get a high loss if you try to interface an APC connector with a UPC connector but that's not happening. He's interfacing a UPC fibre to a UPC fibre. The housing makes no difference. If you don't believe me join 2 APC launch leads together using both types of housing and shoot light with your OTDR and no significant loses will be observed then join a UPC and An APC launch lead together and shoot light from your OTDR and you will see loses no matter which housing you use. The only difference between the housings is the colour, all the alignment is done with the fibre face angle.
A clean step with no spike is much more likely to be terminated with an APC connector that has a very low reflectance around neg 60 whilst a peak is indicative of a broken fibre with a very high reflectance level
Too short launch cable even for exfo 720, OTDR has no chance to correctly measure the parameters of the first connector and the fiber after it, giving a low-accuracy measurement as seen on the screen. This measurement does not reflect the true characteristics of the fiber under test thus not reliable.
Really appreciate for this kind of stuff. Please produce more videos like this on other equipment and tools
We are glad you liked the clip! Check out more at #HowTo.
Buen resumen saludos desde Lima Peru ; )
Thanks, I have one question why OTDR often misses some splices of the fiber under test

You should check the threshold setting maybe the values very big and your events less from theses values so will not appear in table

Some things wrong in the video
How to plug APC connector to UPC coupler
It shouldn't make any difference the housings are identical it's the end faces that are different
Ha just noticed you got it wrong too. It's a UPC connector plugged into an APC coupler 🤣 However, it still doesn't matter 😁
It will cause high loss than the normal,
And in our field it is fital mistake but for you no worries do what ever you want :)

Much to learn thanks to you huawei
We're glad to bring value 🙌
morw videos pls about otdr thank u for sharing
What is the full name of the instrument you use in video?
Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR)
use a fiber inspection. usb van be interface to the otdr.
Thank you sir
How to save Otdr result
Nice 🙌🙌🙌
I purchased this otdr price please sir me from Pakistan
