HA! I never thought of it that way. You made me look at some footage and yes - good observation. I'm learning about myself through people's comments. It's kind of cool! GREAT! Thanks for pointing that out - happy it made sense. Great feedback - always helpful for the newbie UA-camr here. 🤗
Happy it made someone laugh! HA!! When I edit it I'm always just as surprised as the viewer of what comes out of my mouth! It made me laugh too! Thanks for letting me know!
Hey Naomi, make sure your vertigo isn’t something called Ménière’s disease. It starts with vertigo and gets progressively worse over time . I really enjoy your posts . I’m a backpacker and I have never heard of bike packing until a found your channel , looks great ,the best of both worlds. Thanks, stay safe .
I will - thank you Chuck! Oh COOL! Inspiring a hiker to try bikepacking makes my heart sing! It really can be. I'd like to incorporate them both meaning, bikepack to a great location then hike for a few days - because there is something about having your feet connected to the ground...the slower pace to really SEE the beauty up close.
Oh my gosh, your videos popped up as a suggestion and I am so glad I didn't ignore them! What an adventure, and your new friend car camping is awesome too! 💗😁
Naomi, this is the most beautiful video. It shows how resourceful you are. For example, repairing your shoes with electrical tape. (I've never thought to carry some on my own bike.) You make me think of some of the very strong characters in the books by the late Louis L'Amour. You have so much spirit, resourcefulness, beauty and toughness. I wonder if changing to a better tire brand (like Rene Herse) might help you on those rough roads? I'm thinking you ought to contact Bicycle Quarterly (that is a magazine) with an offer to write about your bicycle travels. I think you might make a cover story, that is how good you are. Do you have a route that you are following? Where would you expect to be around Christmas time? Do you think you might go through Eureka again?
Your post has such wonderful feedback and inspiration! Thank you kindly Robert! I'll check out that tire brand. I'm terrible at marketing myself so I should probably find someone who will do it for me. I was on the Wild West Route then got onto the Great Divide in Ovando, MT. This trip was last year. For Christmas I'll be in St. George. I have no plans to be in Eureka until I can bike up into Banff...Jasper...probably 2023.

This is my 3rd video in a row as I attempt to catch up....binging Naomi!! Loving the vids and all your quirkiness. Glad the vertigo didn't get the best of you.
My wife dealt with some vertigo issues a while back and was able to fix it almost immediately after one visit to the Doctors. Dropping that PSI must have felt like a dream. Great job pushing through the struggles Naomi. Victor's story was awesome. Eureka and surrounding areas look beautiful.
My doctor just told me to do the exercises which worked. Thank you! Ya - his story was interesting. It really is - definitely worth a trip back one day! Thanks for sharing!
Good Morning puffy eyes, which are still gorgeous even puffed out. Lol. Letting air out was a good move. I made the same mistake last spring when I first got my new bike. It's a Fatbike and even the manual said the tires took 20psi. And my bike seemed really rough riding. Then I talked to a few people and watched a couple technical UA-cam videos and found out for my tires 8psi was recommended. What a difference! And Victors little car camper was well organized. There is a lot to be said for car/Van camping. I'm still doing it. As always your combined knowledge and sense of humor make for the best and easiest watching videos out there. You really should check out writing for a magazine or maybe an online mag. But you are definitely a shoe in for being on the cover of a magazine. Between your adventure and your incredible way of telling your story is top shelf. Go for it!! I love how it seems like all the deer act like the camp host.!! Lol. Thanks for posting and making my day. It will be in the 40s here today, crazy warm for Dec so I'll be hitting the trails today. Enjoy!!
Hey Naomi. Yeah the low air pressure thing works. My tires can take the lower pressure but your tires might have a different optimum low pressure being smaller than mine and your packing more weight so experiment but it's a much better ride. Also I saw a guy bike packing through our town on Saturday. Ya gotta admire him for having the guts to bike pack in New England this time of year. Take care and enjoy!
There are some gems in your rants about packing and bikepack handling in your story. Your vertigo from chonky roads affirms my thoughts on drop bar gravel bikes for my spine and brain rattling. My biking partner chides me about my “tractor” and “Mary Poppins” Jones Bars versus her sleek Canyon, but after a few hours I still want go and she is ready for tow strap. I have read the same guides for bikepacking as you and your rants affirm my side eye I have been giving the whole sleek and aero go fast styling for bikepacking. Is there another season of biking Naomi in our future?
That's nice to hear! "ready for a tow strap" = HA! Ya, I prefer the straight bar but I'd like to try the mustache bars first. I only did a two week stunt on a full suspension MTB which I will load up. Won't get to it until this is done.
It's pretty neat how your picking up "tricks of the trade" as you go along. Duct-tape, superglue and zip ties should be in every "Oh shit" kit. You can wrap the tape around a pencil, a tent pole repair splint or even the piece of flat plastic in your tire repair kit to save space. And stuff sacks will save you a ton of time. I'll stuff everything into stuffies except the groundsheet , skip rolling. It is better to roll them for storing. You can color code things to organize them as well.
“Oh shit” kit! 🤣👊 Thank you for sharing helpful tips! Wrapping it around a pencil - smart! Stuff sacks - yes indeed! Do you know I didn’t know what the tent repair splint was until months later. HA! Sometimes I move too fast through life. 🙃

You should look into putting a tubeless setup with as wide a tire as the Cutthroat will accommodate, and lowering your tire pressure. It’ll give you a much smoother ride. Yes, the wider tires with lower pressure will slow you down a bit, but your body will thank you for it. Also check out the REDSHIFT suspension stem and seat post. 🤣🤣I have to be honest I never really envisioned a 7yr old and parent watching my videos but it looks like my viewer base is all over the place! 👏 Ya - so - umm… interestingly enough my “Bad words” have been commented on and enjoyed quite a bit. It would’ve never crossed my mind until people started commenting like you. You’re going to love Montana in the flesh!
Data point: I usually run 25psi on my tubeless mountain bike tires. Sometimes even less in the front (22-23). It's a game changer on technical stuff and I am sure also for comfort on the long hauls like you are doing!
Beautiful scenery! Sorry about the vertigo coming back 😬 Did the air pressure adjustment make the ride any smoother? That hopefully will keep the crystals from messing up your fun. Those clear rivers and streams look perfect for sticking your legs in to recover from all that riding while munching down on 🍕🍕🍕😅 Seriously Naomi these outfitter companies should hire you as one of the wrecking crew to thrash test their stuff and show them where to improve and where they excell (like well built wheelsets!) @@HumanontheLoose not an entire roll of DT. Just a 1 inch wide strip a foot or so long wrapped around a flat piece of plastic. All less than the size of a baseball card.
UA-cam came on and what did I see? A bicycling video by Naomi Stock. I wonder what is the attraction here? Is it that a bicycle 38,000 miles through 19 countries, or could it be that Naomi looks so good? I think it is not one of the other. It is both. My latest trip was 550 miles around South Florida. Fort Lauderdale Florida to Titusville Florida. Titusville going west to north of Tampa. South to Clearwater. Highway 60 from Clearwater to Vero Beach. Vero back to Fort Lauderdale. It needed to be done. I think it would be fantastic and great to go on a long bicycling tour with her.
Just catching up after the Thanksgiving holiday and work week. Still really enjoying your series. Bummed to hear about the vertigo again. I was surprised to see you ran 40/50 front/rear psi for that long. That is rather high. Glad you got the recommendation to run lower pressures. Hope that made a difference on the rest of your trip.
Great to hear! Ya...it eventually went away once I got off dirt. Ya...an idiot newbie move not reading more articles about it vs just one. I got on pavement right after this so I never really found out. Thanks for sharing your thoughts - always enjoy them!
From the lipstick queen here💄it looks as though you put some on right after you mentioned being single😄, that will attract them. Duct and electrical tapes are your friends, I keep them in the house and the car. Gorgeous country, beautiful stream. I wonder if Victor is still on the road exploring this beautiful country of ours.
Yes - you are the lipstick queen! 💋 That's zinc oxide tinted sunblock chapstick. I mean come on now - would I really pack a lipstick?! 😳 He finished soon after that and is in Mexico with family.
Eureka is about as safe as any town in the U.S. It's our hometown. Come back and we'll show you all the really beautiful sites. We have nomads stay at our property every summer and enjoy the company.
So continuing to like the steam of consciousness stuff. Wanted to give you another tip to do with being cold when sleeping. You're already finding out whether your acc warm or cold sleeper, and also about maybe getting a sleeping bag to take you deeper, but here's a tip inn the mean time that helps allot. Maybe you already know this by now but here goes. Get a metal water bottle if you don't already have one, like a kleen kleen or similar. Fill it with boiling water 3/4 full, and pot it in a thick sock, and then put it in the sleeping back with you, will really help you stay warm, well , for half the night. If you don't already hsve one get a lightweight stove and cooking pot so you can heat water, or if your sleeping near a coffee shop you can fill up at the coffee machine. You'll get it all sorted out after a while. Sleeping cold "sucks" (-; (-;
Well that’s good because that is me! Great tip! I don’t cook so I don’t carry that stuff except a pot - I can always make a small enough fire to boil and do your metal bottle technique! Thank you! 👍
What a nice campground. That vertigo sounds like a bummer. My friend had an episode with the BPPV. It sounds like no fun. But how about that silky smooth asphalt? Coasting is my favorite.
Hope you never experience it. I did learn some people have it as a condition for life. I honestly can't imagine how they get through their days. YES - silky asphalt - wheeeeee!
I was looking at UA-cam and what did I see? A video by Naomi Stock. It is hard to decide. Does the attraction come because I did so much long-distance bicycle touring, or is the attraction because Naomi looks so good. That would not be one or the other. It is both. My last trip was 550 mi around South Florida. That ended February of this year. Fort Lauderdale Florida to Titusville Florida. Titusville to north of Orlando to north of Tampa. South to Clearwater. From Clearwater highway 60 to Vero Beach. Vero Beach back to Fort Lauderdale. 11 days maybe 12.

Human on the loose, you good-looking young woman. Are you in Boston these days? What are you doing in Boston? There is some good cycling and New England and the Northeastern United States. I cycle around that region. It was pretty nice but there was too much rain.

i find the comparison of a working class person in US, with small rural farmers of countries on the continent of Africa bizarre there is no comparison here you just can't live your life like that, it will drive you potty counting your blessings is good though i'd just find a more logical way, like, i compare my life with my mother's life she literally had no life, she didn't go to college, or uni, or have a career, or buy her own home, or go on gal trips with her peers, or travel the country, or have hobbies of her own, she's nearly 80 and she's stuck doing everyone's laundry [except mine, because i'm the only one with empathy for her reality] my bro and his wife send suitacases to her, my sis and her husband + 3 kids do too, she has her own laundry and dads :( she has tried to rid herself of this unpaid burden but the family go in huff with her, little spoilt babbies i on the otherhand have been everywhere, read every text book, well all the classics at least travelled, driven cars, rode bikes, performed with the world famous Russian state circus, had Luvvers, had experiences, Stone Henge, festivals, raves, metal concerts, skiing in Austria, France, Italy, flying south to the Med for Winter, etc

I didn't think it would be lipstick but never heard of zinc oxide tinted sunblock.😄
Eureka is about as safe as any town in the U.S. It's our hometown. Come back and we'll show you all the really beautiful sites. We have nomads stay at our property every summer and enjoy the company.
Fantastic! How generous of you! I may take you up on your offer as I still need to finish my desire to head up to Banff/Jasper!
So continuing to like the steam of consciousness stuff. Wanted to give you another tip to do with being cold when sleeping. You're already finding out whether your acc warm or cold sleeper, and also about maybe getting a sleeping bag to take you deeper, but here's a tip inn the mean time that helps allot. Maybe you already know this by now but here goes. Get a metal water bottle if you don't already have one, like a kleen kleen or similar. Fill it with boiling water 3/4 full, and pot it in a thick sock, and then put it in the sleeping back with you, will really help you stay warm, well , for half the night. If you don't already hsve one get a lightweight stove and cooking pot so you can heat water, or if your sleeping near a coffee shop you can fill up at the coffee machine. You'll get it all sorted out after a while. Sleeping cold "sucks" (-; (-;
Congratulations on 1k
Thank you so much 😀
Who is that good-looking well-built young woman pedaling her bicycle along dirt roads and gravel and singletrack forests? It is human on the loose.

Enjoy riding a bike
ahhhhhhh when u said how much air u had in your tyres..................hehe lol no wonder that trail killed you!
i was telling you, "you need some fatter tyres, and some suspension!" i didn't know ur back tyre was blown up to 50 haha
letting air out is a thing, it is a thing for MTB's too, i let air out on rough trails = less saddle sore 👍
Right?! Total newbie bikepacker dork move! The great outcome - I'll teach viewers everything you're NOT suppose to do! 😂 😂
Best thing about the USA is you can camp in most city parks ,did it quite a few times riding Trans-Am. No way could you do that in France or England
Ya - cool - I didn't know that until that moment. It felt very odd at first. Oh - do you know why you can't over there?
Human on the loose, you good-looking young woman. Are you in Boston these days? What are you doing in Boston? There is some good cycling and New England and the Northeastern United States. I cycle around that region. It was pretty nice but there was too much rain.
i'm 55, the older i get, the fatter the tyres and the more suspension i need, haha smoooooother riding for menopausal old ladies weeeeeeee :0
I get the feeling you are 55yrs YOUNG!! 💃 👏
I've been binge-watching this series and I just have to ask - how are you even able to poop? You just eat sugar, carbs, and meat, no veggies or fiber. I'd be completely clogged up if I ate like that!
YAY!! 👏 I'm always humbled when people attach "binge-watching" with my channel! Hahaha...LOVE your honesty! I think all the physical movement keeps the body parsing but I did take a veggie tablet each morning.
i find the comparison of a working class person in US, with small rural farmers of countries on the continent of Africa bizarre
there is no comparison here
you just can't live your life like that, it will drive you potty
counting your blessings is good though
i'd just find a more logical way, like, i compare my life with my mother's life
she literally had no life, she didn't go to college, or uni, or have a career, or buy her own home, or go on gal trips with her peers, or travel the country, or have hobbies of her own, she's nearly 80 and she's stuck doing everyone's laundry [except mine, because i'm the only one with empathy for her reality] my bro and his wife send suitacases to her, my sis and her husband + 3 kids do too, she has her own laundry and dads :( she has tried to rid herself of this unpaid burden but the family go in huff with her, little spoilt babbies
i on the otherhand have been everywhere, read every text book, well all the classics at least
travelled, driven cars, rode bikes, performed with the world famous Russian state circus, had Luvvers, had experiences, Stone Henge, festivals, raves, metal concerts, skiing in Austria, France, Italy, flying south to the Med for Winter, etc
