  • Al Cormier and Carol Vandeven have come into The Den with their adhesive wall art product they hope will stick with The Dragons. The couple are asking for an investment of 300K in exchange for 30% of their company, Flip It.
They have been working on the product for years and have invested all they have, including their home, into the business. But despite being debt-free, The Dragons can't seem to overlook their lack of orders.

Here's my advice for someone in this situation: Get rid of the notion that this is the only successful idea you'll ever create. Be willing to completely waste this idea and cut your losses. And when you reach that point, it might surprisingly work out. Don't take a loss on it, take a win for having had such a great idea and go on to producing the next one.

Rough story but they’re a basically asking for a licensing deal without asking for one. They wanted the dragons to buy a chunk of the business but do all the work. You don’t get it go both ways. Either you make the business work yourselves or you sell the idea/intellectual property and take your nickel. The only value they’ve brought to the table is the idea - they have zero ability to execute. Also I don’t think this ever went anywhere and it’s likely due to the fact that eventually all those buyers over 15 years lose interest. Shame of it is that they probably had a very successful business and they lost it all on a silly dream. And near the end it just got sad - buddy literally just said I’m a moron and please bail me out and nearly cried. But Kevin is right - their emotional involvement blinded them in their pursuit of the idea.

In my opinion, Kevin O’Leary is one heartless, cold and greedy character. If rich is all you want to be, you’re pathetic.
