It was like my second or third week into roofing and my foreman was curious how I got so much faster, all I said was “Veteran Construction on UA-cam” lol
I'm not in a high wind area but I've considered switching to 4 nails. A lot of times I end up putting 4 anyway and I pay especially close attention to detail as I shingle. You can see how I peeled a piece off the face of one cap and then threw away the next one for a a small tear in it. I'm definitely watching my nails gun pressure
@NWIVeteranConstruction Im down here to florida, we do 6 nail on the shingle mats and 4 on the hip/ridge caps to get a 130mph roof. On the shingle, 95% of our installs are OC duration. Malarkey has a good class 4 impact rated shingle but we dont see too much hail.
@@2centsam927 Yeah always a good idea to put some type of tar based roof sealant over exposed fasteners on hip/ridge and pipe boots. Ive also seen crews cut some small patch of shingle and cement them over the exposed fastener on the hip/ridge which stops the sealant from breaking down in the uv. If you just use tar based selant, you will need to reapply it every 5 years.
The fact that you looked at a piece of material and then rejected it from use lets me know that you know what you’re doing and care , I’ve installed flooring , worked in the bindery trade , and now steel stamping and you’ll notice that the guys who are good and care will reject stuff quickly
Yessir. Goodwork brother. Exactly how I finish off my ridge cap 🔨

More to come!
Why would you cut ontop ofthe installed material
Cuse he can
Because it is a hook blade and I'm a professional That doesn't cut through material below me

Welcome to Earth, if you’re questioning this you better be sitting down when you see how a valley is installed lol

Need 4 nails per hip/ridge cap. 2 is just lazy.

Why would you buy a bundle of ridge cap shingles on a 3tab roof when you can just 45 the tabs of a bundle of 3tabs and have no black showing
Those are architectural shingles, not 3 tab.
What up Cuz it’s been a while. Hope all is good.
Not much ma'am. Just trying to figure out the yt shorts thing. Working hard on roofing/ siding. Thanks for asking
I double nail my caps
I been thinking about doing that for awhile now! Caps don't seem to seal as well as the shingles do. I think they're on the last Gen of tar lol
