At 13:10, he uses the good portion of the damaged shingle, which shows a true professional that cares what he or she is doing. I would hire this guy in a heart beat! Every body on planet earth should take note of this mans work ethic.
Okay, THAT is fast! Sure, you'll see guys skipping their guns across the shingle just to get it done in less time, but this guy is placing the nails properly! Hat's off to him! GREAT job! That's what I like to see; proper technique! The only thing wrong here is that he doesn't have a laborer feeding him and placing the coils with the bundles. He should just be shingling, shingling shingling and his helper should be picking up the wrappings, moving the hose, staging the shingles for him and having all his stuff ready as he does nothing but move up and down that roof like Spiderman. Plus, with a helper having his coils for him in a bucket on the roof, he doesn't have to have a full belt on. He can just rock & roll with a belt, a pouch on the left and a knife sheath & hammer loop on the right. That would make it a lot easier for him to move around up there. He would double his production which would easily pay for the laborer's wages and make way more profit for the owner and he'd be flyin' up that roof. I'm sure he'd be happier too if he didn't have to keep stopping after getting into a good rhythm and breaking his flow. A good roofer with someone staging for him can lay down a square every 5 minutes or so with ideal conditions (not too hot out). That's how you lay out 5+ squares an hour and taking a break every 20 minutes for a drink on those nice walkable roofs with time included for maybe a dormer or a couple of vents after your set-up at the eave. One more note...have the first 6 courses done first all the way across the eave. After that, he wouldn't have to slow down to do them. He can just walk down and start laying succeeding courses, again, without having to stop his work flow.
Good Job! I like the ice shield around the pipe flange, some roofers caulk underneath the shingles around the flange, can't go wrong with the ice shield that's good quality roofing..
Good consistent speed, hard worker....but nail pattern could use some work(nails are supposed to be set at the very least, 4 inches from seam(point where shingles meet up horizontally)
Chelsea, it's easy after one edge is run. Shingles in place. Run like hell. Great job, smart set up. Only thing I'd recommend is moving the nails further away from seam. I pay my guys 400 a day. Two nailers. Laborer makes 15. Hope you payin guys good. Remember we are nothing with out skilled craftsmen
Excellent, you pulled out your hammer to beat down a nail that wasnt to your standard, thats great. You have all your gear on, you dont have to get up to get tools all the time and knee pads so you can stand or alternate to your knees. Your very efficient and your speed is good. I the only thing i see is you setting your gun down evry time you grab and set the next shingle. You dont have to do that its wasted time. You only need to have your shingles laid out going up your pattern side. As you nail across your shingles already start to grab the next shingle for placement and nailing without putting the gun down. It should be almost continues. This will increase your productivity without increasing speed. Your efficiency and skills are good.
Watched plenty of videos claiming to be fastest roofer on UA-cam. You sir showed the finest nail placement of all. Pride in workmanship, integrity, only thing that scares me is osha might be parked up there street waiting to issue a 20k fine, that's what we fear in NY... other then that your a great roofer! Keep up the good work and if you ever want a job in buffalo ny I'd hire you in a second!
I agree with mr Rickard this guy by far does the best nail placement I've ever seen. And another very important thing all nails are flushed, uses hammer to flatten nail whenever it's not driven flushed. Something that it's very very important in a shingle installation. But I have to say 90% of supposedly roofers dont pay attention or just dont want to do it right. Great work!
A esto llamo trabajar bien.. Los clavos bien puestos y con calma.. No como otros que conosco. hacen sonar las pistolas como si estuvieran en guerra.. Y peor aun. auque la casa esta plana todavia les tiran tejas... Saludos hermano roofero.🤙🖐👏
He’s fast and accurate, fast and good is much better then slow and perfect, speed is the key, getting paid by the square when I was younger, and having good teachers helped me get real fast, while working by the square on a crew, while everyone else got paid by the hour, I always made more money, and if I took a break , the boss couldn’t say anything, I’d always stay late and get a second wind when it cooled down, they’d show up the next morning and the roof would be done,,,,
Hey bravo !
Bon job mon homme. Perry de Deu-Montagnes, QC.
Perfection. Just worry that using the box cutter to cut shingles on top of the underlayment. How does he keep from cutting the underlayment? What brand of shingles is this?
Good job. With his move that fast like that scares me if he slips and falls. Take your time and use it properly. Job performance is very important but you need to be safe also.
Can you show how to start putting those shingles on. I got the training I have been doing it for about 2 years now but I feel like my trainer isn't telling me something because I'm still on the low end jobs. I just need to know how your started for those shingles. I like your style and techniques. Big ups to you and your company.
Dude - your are the ROOFING MAN. You have such a nice skill and craft. It looks great and you make it look so easy! Good job, thanks for recording and uploading! God bless you!
On the vent it looks like he shot the bottom and it is exposed. Is that how you are supposed to do it? Will he come back later and apply silicone? I am looking at doing my own roof and thought that you never wanted nails exposed like that. He makes it look easy and I am sure it will not be for me. Thanks for the video!
pretty good and unless he is use to this pace... wow may get tired by the end of the day... but ya only thing i say is it seemed like his 2nd nail was kinda close to the seam

Also first video I've seen where the roofer drives his nails up. Hard worker. 👍
Thank you Mr. Lewis
Bien echo. De tantos son pocos los que realmente hacen bien el trabajo.
Es verdad, roofers muchos , buenos pocos.
Im impressed on how sharp his hookblade is lol
welllll the heat does help some.. when shingles are in the sun for alil while they get softer to..
As I roofer I’m sitting here thinking either dude is a beast or the hooker is sharp. Maybe both?
Good consistent speed, hard worker....but nail pattern could use some work(nails are supposed to be set at the very least, 4 inches from seam(point where shingles meet up horizontally)
he's really good at this, good for him
Didn't even stop for a smoke break. Impressive
That was very satisfying to watch!!! Great job!
Love your video starting my roofing company asap now

Anyone notice him put nails thru the over-hang?
Timothy Randolph If you listen to the sound of the nailer from the first nail to the second, you will understand that there is a gap.
I hit osha. They never understand because they work on the roof.

Quality is all that matters! Speed comes with time. Hopefully since you never learned that you're not a company owner.
Working after 5 pm is like working inside with AC, you can do twice the shingles from 5 to 7
Than working from 1pm to 6
Damn, he makes it look so easy.
Finally a video of a roofer that knows what he's doing. Wish you worked with me.
Thank you, Mr. Ethan
PJ Roofing your welcome keep up the good work
The reload though. Man has done that a few 1000 times

Now THIS is a roofing company I would enjoy working for. You seem to take pride in quality and speed. Probably meaning a green guy would learn well.
Thank you!
Awesome work, I like your nailing
Waoo...
I love watching more updates
Perfection. Just worry that using the box cutter to cut shingles on top of the underlayment. How does he keep from cutting the underlayment? What brand of shingles is this?
It’s a special hook shaped blade you can put in your cutter, made for slicing thru shingles. Underlayment should be safe from the blade in most cases
