Just one more hint...put the cuke slices into a coke bottle and put on bottom of tank. It makes it easy to remove them. Bottles also work remarkably for feeding wafers to many different fish. Keeps the mess contained, then just pull it out upright when they've had their fill! Amazing!
My neighbour has a bunch of snails in her tank. I found a clown loach and got that to help, but I think I'll need to try the cucumber as well. Stupid snails are everywhere. Great video and thank you for the tips!
Snails are the usual thing if the tank is planted. You are right it is hard to get those yoyo loaches. This is a great content as you are showing the things that tank keepers usually encounter. Nice on Farley
That's brilliant...I used guppies to condition my new aquarium and now I've got a baby tank. But I cannot keep up. Hoping my Boesemann and Congo tetras start browsing on them babies...
It’s fun to see what I found by accident is legit. I feed blanched zucchini and have been switching the piece covered with snails into my other snail eating fish. It’s a perfect harvester 😊! Our Yo-yos and Hillstreams loaches love them too but our puffers need to keep their teeth trimmed so snails are a must. 😊
I tried this last night. Only had 3 snails on it this morning. Very disappointing. I did not blanch the cucumber first. Not sure if that is why. I can not put a yo yo loach into this tank as they will also eat my fish. Suggestions for any other food that will get the snails??
If you use thin sticks to anchor the cukes or zucchini down so they are against the substrate, they work really well. I also cook the veggies for one minute, cool them, then add to tanks. Corey's LOVE THEM, A
My yo yo ate fish when he felt like it even though he also ate food. I finally had to remove from tank. So it does happen. They are wonderful fish but I will never purchase again.
Loaches are social fish, and form complex social hierarchies. If you keep too few of them they get skittish and more aggressive, so they do best in groups of 5 or more. Also they're a lot more fun to watch in their groups bc they show a lot more behaviors/antics
What's good Farley, Dam you got yourself some serious snail going on, reminds me of a place I stayed in Bronx except there snails were roaches in my case lol. I think you puffer will eat them as well.
Just keep adding cucumber as well as the loaches as it's getting rid of the snail's. Otherwise take all the fish out of the tank and deep clean the tank to get the snails out then restock the tank.
The snails are not "wreaking havoc." They indicate excess food and algae is in the water / walls, and they are cleaning it up. But sure, they might not be attractive.
Tip to maximize efficiency to catch max snails you should expose the cucumber... what I do is slice it in half length ways instead of making chips. I then stab a stainless steel fork through the middle of the cucumber and place it so the cucumber is sitting on the bottom of the tank. Leave it for a few hours. Best to do it overnight with lights off. In the morning every square inch of the cucumber should be covered. Lift it out carefully as it can slip off thr fork. I usually use a net. You can then dump the snails in a small Tupperware with tank water in it and repeat.
Your loaches are still really young. Good luck catching them again 😂😂😂😂 they are fast and extremely smart. Now they know what a net is. Every time they see one They spilt mad fast and hid. Mine do. I have never had net mine. I use my hands when I handle most of my fish. I rub stress coat on my hands first.
Dude I havent watched this yet. I own 2 yoyo loaches. I love them. Thing is. Get small betta keeper and let them breed in that so you can keep snail in your fishes diet. P.s yoyo loaches will wipe out all your fry. Mine did. They are no longer with my guppy fish. I got assassin snails for that tank. A small army. Yoyo loaches are just like a mini tiger loach. I named my female lurch didn't know it was female, the male, well I just call him little buddy. They have so much personality man. You will love your yoyo. They like to live in groups as well.
Mellé wedin awesome. I actually removed the yo-yos from my tank and put them in another tank. I left them in the tank for 3 days and they took care of the snails. I also bought 5 assassin snails and put them in the tank. I’m uploading a video later today
Use a stainless fork to keep cucumber down or do what I do and blanch them. Also, snails are fine I have 16 fish tanks and snails in all of them they help with extra food and algea.
I got 6 assassin snails for pest control and starred for a whole 2 hours hoping they would kill snails... they just banged. Had a huge assassin snails orgy... I hope that’s good for more assassin snails but they better then to pest controlling! I put in a yo-yo loach and he eats the baby snails right away
Yo Farley!! let Me explain something brother ... they (snails) only breed an explode in numbers then will die off naturally unless there is enough food an algae 🦠 ect that is able to keep that size population ... so if tank doesn’t need them an they don’t have the food they are only helping you bro lol I love snails !! They are the best helpers in tanks helps the live plants 🌱 they’re great i don’t get why ppl freak out 😂 buy puffer an feed em if needed but I love the snails 🐌 personally
TheDreaded FishKeeper207 thanks for the explanation. Interesting. I just had wayyyy to many snails and wanted to get rid of some of them. My figure 8 didn’t really eat them
Wild World of Farley yeah sometimes the colony will bloom but it will die off as long as there isn’t enough for them all to stay alive but if tank needs them they will thrive but overall are very helpful brethren
I have the same problem in my tank and I bought assassin snails and they worked for a little bit but then number about a hundred more snails came back out.
They don't work. Neither do Clown Loaches. I have both in my tank and still have a snail infestation. In fact the snails are more numerous now than they've ever been
You know , you could transfer the guppies into a HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE tank , like your few hundred gallon tank and keep clown loaches in it . They are most efficient at snail removal plus they will never never and ever eat your fish ( you also will not need the baby tank anymore if you use the obe hundred or so tank ) . Also , trim the plants !!!!!!!!!!
Dont get a fish to get rid of snails unless you plan on keeping the fish and having them be happy. Yoyo loaches need at least a group of 3 to be happy, they are schooling fish. Also they need a minimum of 20 gallons, even that seems excessively small. Not sure how big that tank is but i would venture to say maybe not 20 gallons.
@@wildworldoffarley I am glad for that. It is not that I think you are a bad fishkeeper. But I have heard and seen enough horror stories about fish being impropperly kept. I could see someone see this and misuse it as information to base a bad choice on.
Keep some snails they keep the glass clean from algae. You have ramshorn snails. There good. People like me have to buy them. There on the plants eating algae. So don't get to aggressive about getting rid of all snails. I'm actually breeding mystery snails. ☺
Yo yo loaches will eat baby guppies no probelm,,there alot more predatory than say a clown loach. They also dnt play well with each other. Should gone with clown loaches an got a school.
I have a big snail population in my tank. I got a pair of yoyo loaches 2 weeks ago but its liks they still multiply faster than the loaches eat them. I had gotten some assasin snails before the loaches but I think the loaches ate them first ☹. I will try the cucumber trick to grab a bunch out.
Honestly your commentary is great. You have just the right level of energy along with the serenity that comes with fish-keeping.
Just one more hint...put the cuke slices into a coke bottle and put on bottom of tank. It makes it easy to remove them. Bottles also work remarkably for feeding wafers to many different fish. Keeps the mess contained, then just pull it out upright when they've had their fill! Amazing!
Yo-yo loaches are the best but they need to be in groups or they will get depressed
Yo yo loaches are a new species for me. Are they expensive? Those snails are a drag to get rid of. Very original Farley!
I have 3. They need to live in groups. I think mine we're $3\$4 each.
Dwarf puffers will hunt and eat them all
Snails would bug me more but... I kinda enjoy watching them lol. Especially those Ramshorn type snails, they're so pretty.
Why does farley have the coolest fish ever!!!
Great Tip! When sometimes we want snails, until they get out of control. goodness
Hi what are those 3 plants in the middle of the tank?
My neighbour has a bunch of snails in her tank. I found a clown loach and got that to help, but I think I'll need to try the cucumber as well. Stupid snails are everywhere. Great video and thank you for the tips!
This was wild video bro.. .. Firee!!!
Snails are the usual thing if the tank is planted. You are right it is hard to get those yoyo loaches.
This is a great content as you are showing the things that tank keepers usually encounter. Nice on Farley
those yoyo loach will take out all of your baby guppies as well😂😂😂
That's why he moved the babies to another tank.
That's brilliant...I used guppies to condition my new aquarium and now I've got a baby tank. But I cannot keep up. Hoping my Boesemann and Congo tetras start browsing on them babies...
How many gal is the snails tank
That word.. planted snail tank😁🤣
Frozen broccoli smells more, so use that next time. I put on small piice in, next day 100 snals covered it! More vitamins also. Snails go nut for it!
thanks for the tip
Happy Birthday Bro bro! 🎂
I appreciate it brother
Great video Farley. Love the idea ur using to get dem snails xD
What do you feed your baby guppies? And where can I buy those bug bites?
i feed the baby guppie fluval bug bites or Hikair First Bites. you can find them at pet supermarket or pet smart.
YeeeaYuuuhhh!! What up Farley!?
All the pet stores here in Charleston,S.C usually put a goldfish in tank to take care of the snail problem. Love ur video thanks for sharing
Do loaches eat nerite snails?
Looks like some adult guppies have TB or hexamita. Best remove any thin ones
Cool nice video Farley
im first
love the vids man keep up the great work.
I love this video ❤😂
haha im glad you enjoyed the video.
do the yo-yo loaches eat the big snails? or just ones that will fit in their mouths
Yoyo loaches are cool, I have one they are super active fish! Wut's good Farley✊
Tip : instead of a slice of cucumber use an algae wafer and after ~10 minutes it’ll be covered with snails on top of each other
Lolll yo i got the same 15 gall tank and same plecko lol. Can I get loaches if I have a betta fish I have tons of snails and snail eggs on walls
Wow Farley those guppies keep breeding like they are your going to need 10 more tanks 🤣😂
Another good fish to control snails is a pea puffer fish. They don’t grow big but has big appetite for snails.
I am very surprised by this experiment...and the title Doctor Farley is certainly fitting...!!!
I tried this last night. Only had 3 snails on it this morning. Very disappointing. I did not blanch the cucumber first. Not sure if that is why. I can not put a yo yo loach into this tank as they will also eat my fish. Suggestions for any other food that will get the snails??
They love green beans, that's what I use & I got 2 YOYO LOACHES
& pretty much wiped out the snails in a 75 gal planted tank.
They've got some tools to hold the cucumbers at the bottom. You will have even better success
whats good farley do more with cash nasty plz and keep up the good work
If you use thin sticks to anchor the cukes or zucchini down so they are against the substrate, they work really well. I also cook the veggies for one minute, cool them, then add to tanks. Corey's LOVE THEM, A
Another funny video im sure you and joey use cucumbers all the time lol
Cool video Farley you are amazing 💯💪 bro
Dropped one in a tank covered with Itty bitty snails everywhere. He has gone to down in one day.
Once they eat all the snails, will they go rogue and start eating other fish?
TEAM RΩCKET yes it happed to mine
No. I've had 3 yoyo loaches in my 55 gallon for 2 yrs. They eat whatever I feed the other fish.
My yo yo ate fish when he felt like it even though he also ate food. I finally had to remove from tank. So it does happen. They are wonderful fish but I will never purchase again.
I really like your video keep up the good work love cat fish kingdom 😃😄😄
Move the Oscar to the 75 gallon tank
Clown loach are the best snail killers
Loaches are social fish, and form complex social hierarchies. If you keep too few of them they get skittish and more aggressive, so they do best in groups of 5 or more. Also they're a lot more fun to watch in their groups bc they show a lot more behaviors/antics
thats all true, i appreciate the feedback. this loach was a hired assassin... he did well :-)
Really a nice planted tank bro
love the channel

Where's the update?

I finally caught up! Thanks for sharing all of your experiences with us!
Even tho the yoyo loaches are an awesome way to get rid of the snails you can also buy a Snail Rid chemical that will kill them off super fast
Can this be added without harming fish? Or will I have to remove fish first
@@tracys.6033 I think u can use it with Fish still in but I used it with fish out just in case and left it for 10 minutes
Great content.... Way better than your boys Z and J....

I’m not going to lie, it took me a looooong time to catch them 😆
So many baby’s
Try be careful with nets and fry I’ve had a few in the past take the skin off the babies just something to think about, great video
I'm releasing all my fish that's not evasive and buying 2 tragus and a monitor 💪💪✊🤜💨💨 Farley let the snails alone and get on the reptile boat 😳😳

Learned something new. I didn't know how to get rid of snails
Use a stainless fork to keep cucumber down or do what I do and blanch them. Also, snails are fine I have 16 fish tanks and snails in all of them they help with extra food and algea.
Zucchini works as well
Pea puffers, aggressive and gluttonous, farm the snails and BOOM more content plus there cute
Does anyone know any cold water fish that eat snails? I heard that Yoyos want temperatures around 24-26C (74-80F)
Assassin snails it’s a good way to get rid of past snails
Works better if the cucumber is on the bottom from the start, find a way to weight it, like a metal spoon etc.
I have 5 yoyos and they are huge. Any time I get snails on plants its just a nice snack for them.
Pea Puffers LOVE Snails if you can find some...
They do but they will also feast on your guppies. Pea puffers are not the most community friendly little fish.
U should boil the cucumber so it sinks
I got 6 assassin snails for pest control and starred for a whole 2 hours hoping they would kill snails... they just banged. Had a huge assassin snails orgy... You should feed the snails to your puffer
You need to run Helena snails they eat other snails😁
Just drop your puffer in. Might have to catch the guppies out but it will clean out the tank
Dymax Snail Remover. Dwarf puffers will eat all the snails you have

@wildworldoffarley get assassin snails they'll do the work
I’m pretty sure ur supposed to sink the cucumber with a fork
First pls respond

Get some common gold fish aka feeder fish they will eat the snails
How did u get so many snails all of a sudden and u should get s puffer fish 🐠 it would eliminate all the snails

my guppies eat all of the snail eggs
I have those before a take my order fish don’t eat my snails I was ☹️
Lol...that’s kinda like my my tank. Snails galore. Mine are getting really big now. Once it warms up enough, they will be going outside
*pest snails
