Not sure where the "dislikes" came from but I assume that they are the best chefs if the world. Sheesh! I have made this dish twice and added some herbs that I dried in the oven from my wife's herb garden and I'll tell you, this method rocks! Crispy, juicy, tender and the onions are excellent! After you remove the chicken, if you broil them long enough for them to caramelize just to the point of toasted edges, EAT THEM! My wife and I totally enjoyed them as a side. Last night we had this dish again and this time I placed the onions and the juices over the leftover chicken 1/2 and placed it in the fridge overnight. I cannot wait to taste it! Good stuff Chef!

Thanks John as always your videos inspire me to try cook new recipes all the time!
Not sure if this has been mentioned but, now that you have a 1080p camera you should start learning how to focus images better but I'm sure you picked up on it already!
Just for example, the last shot when you were cutting into the chicken, the focus wasn't actually on the part you were cutting! =)
Anyway thanks again! Look forward to your next video =)

Also come winter, that broil setting you never use, well star doing so. Franny it is my all time favorite steering for anything ever. For real this is fantastic for literally everything even if you just put in in there for 1 minute to finish a steak or roast it is fantastic. Also I add the onions to the juice and zest of a lemon 1/2 cup red win and about half a cup mushrooms cooked on medium heat on the stove for about 20 min... so good yet so simple..

Chef John, I was recently in France and had the most divine quiche type pie. It has a flaky crust and had a spinach, onion, ham/bacon and a small amount of diced tomato. I'm pretty sure it had some eggs but not a lot that it was like a traditional quiche. It also had a thick layer of bubbly, golden cheese baked on top. Can you please fulfill by food wish?

in germany, roasted chicken in general is called a broiler by many people(yes, the english word). This is owed to the american/english occupation forces after world war 2. People kind of adopted the english word into the german language.
