this guy sounds like the nicest guy ever
agreed
Agreed! His voice is comforting, like a nurse our a nice dad.
Hey, wait! someone slightly further down mentioned Alton Brown, and come to think about it, his voice is very similar!
LITERALLY.
This is called up speaking. It basically means making everything sound like a question
Always listen to your chicken !
The 1080p wasn't really working for me. Couldn't smell or taste the chicken from my computer.
ROFL.....It works on mine!! WTF!!!
LOL @ "always listen to your chicken". Nice method for broiling....thanks again :)
i could listen to this dude all day!
Thanks for all the tech notes! Yes, the transitions look a little funky. Also, a few sound issues. Any and all tips and suggestions are welcomed.
I swear 1080p is making your food more delicious. It's so delicious I can taste it through my monitor!
The only Tech problem I have, Is not being able to eat things straight from my screen xD
You should do a technical evaluation of some Sambal recipes!
Looks and sounds good, don't change a thing.
Can you try filming one of these in Wonkavision?
Not sure where the "dislikes" came from but I assume that they are the best chefs if the world. Sheesh! I have made this dish twice and added some herbs that I dried in the oven from my wife's herb garden and I'll tell you, this method rocks! Crispy, juicy, tender and the onions are excellent! After you remove the chicken, if you broil them long enough for them to caramelize just to the point of toasted edges, EAT THEM! My wife and I totally enjoyed them as a side. Last night we had this dish again and this time I placed the onions and the juices over the leftover chicken 1/2 and placed it in the fridge overnight. I cannot wait to taste it! Good stuff Chef!
Chef John I’m a poor college student that has never cooked chicken before and this was the most delicious thing I’ve made, thank you so much for all you do, you’re a hero 💕💕💕
Absolutely loving the upbeat and funny (non-monotonous) commentary! :D gotta try this recipe soon.
Just did this chicken technique, and it's soo easy.
Chef, you have really made me a better cook. Thank you.
My dad has been making this every Friday for years. So good.
My mother broiled meat all the time. Grew up in the 50’/60’s. She was a great cook.
The chicken is perfectly sync'd and the audio is crispy and delicious. :) many thanks Chef John ... love yr channel. KEEP HOME COOKING Y'ALL
...I enjoy listening to your talking more than a Chicken Mate!😂✌Peace!
I used to broil chicken years ago when I was a teenager. I had forgotten all about this method for cooking chicken. Thank you for the reminder.
bringing back the old ways. also great in a toaster over. perfection chef...
Awesome! I feel special. I thought I was the only one that broiled his chicken this way. Good to see a celebrity Chef use this technique perfectly.
Lovely! I finally used my broiler for the first time this week and was wondering what else I should make! Lovely!
I made this tonight and it rocks! had a baked sweet potato and some collards sauteed with garlic for a real Southern dinner. Yum!!
I just cooked my chicken like this and my family loved it. Thanks again chef
this was well done (pun not intended). and you have a great narrating voice. thank you!
Always loved broiled chicken!! And yours was no exception!! Looked so good!! Thanks, Chef John!! "And as always Enjoy"!!
you, and others on here, have made most food channels obsolete.
For those of us in the UK, the Broiler is the Grill, confusing I know... :P
thank you i was like wtf haha :P
Thanks John as always your videos inspire me to try cook new recipes all the time!
Not sure if this has been mentioned but, now that you have a 1080p camera you should start learning how to focus images better but I'm sure you picked up on it already!
Just for example, the last shot when you were cutting into the chicken, the focus wasn't actually on the part you were cutting! =)
Anyway thanks again! Look forward to your next video =)
cool nice and easy like this will try thanks from minnesota
I feel like you should have been the narrator of every movie, commercial or trailer ever made.
Hey Chef John. I don't even cook and i watch your videos. its a guilty pleasure thing. kinda weird though.whatevs
I would LOVE to do this with curry, chili powder, turmeric, and some paprika :D
DON'T YOU WORRY ABOUT A THING WITH THE TECH STUFF, I LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS, I LOVE YOU! LOVEROSE
the comment about wife and the salad made me chuckle, I force my husband to eat healthy things too :)
Also come winter, that broil setting you never use, well star doing so. Franny it is my all time favorite steering for anything ever. For real this is fantastic for literally everything even if you just put in in there for 1 minute to finish a steak or roast it is fantastic. Also I add the onions to the juice and zest of a lemon 1/2 cup red win and about half a cup mushrooms cooked on medium heat on the stove for about 20 min... so good yet so simple..
Yeah I must agree
That looks amazing. I can't wait to try it, even though broiling is a bit daunting (that constant nagging fear of burning drives me insane) but this looked easy.
I love the quality. Makes the food that much more decadent... *drools*
wow just wow i love this video and cook. first time to see it and i loved the simplicity of the instructions.
Will try this. Thank you chef
What should be settings of Broil in oven , High or Low
It came out beautiful..
_ "Always listen to your chicken" _ I don't know why but I found that funny
Lol I Iove his voice and enthusiasm!!
You are the Charles Dickens of your oven broiled halved chickens.
MAN this guy is just so gosh darn pleasant
I love simple recipes like this!
I don't know how to cook even if it meant saving my own life 😂 thank God for this video, I wanted to make chicken like they have at the supermarket so I'll definitely give this ago
Thank u for doing these videos
The 30 seconds of darkness at the end really let me soak it all in. Salivating now. Want.
Just found you! Oh how I miss having you in my life before. Love your videos!!!!
I wanna eat the chicken just based on the sound of your voice!!! Mmmmmmmmm Yummmmyyyyy :-) ;-) ;-)
Yum, so much more delicious in 1080p!!!
Keep up the good work.
Going to try it this winter for sure!
Ahhhhhhhh...... How do you always know what I am craving! Get out of my head!
Your videos are great
Looks so yummy!!
i really enjoy these simple yet versatile demo-recipes. keep it up!
Thank you so much. I don't have an oven that can bake,so this is perfect!
It could be youtube but the beginning shot of the chicken the subtle pan you had going was a little bouncy. idk if thats something to do with your 1080 setup or youtubes frame rate issues but it was less than mildly noticeable. the 1080 vids are looking great so far! much like this chicken!
My goodness, perfectly, perfectly done. Just au pointe.
This looks amazing. I don't use the broiler nearly often enough.
looks so great. I love broiling chicken. I did a video like this last year. I may try this method next because its a bit less messy lol
The only thing technologically wrong that I can see is the fact UA-cam hasn't found a way for you to send all this food through my computer screen yet!
Thank you!
Chef John, I was recently in France and had the most divine quiche type pie. It has a flaky crust and had a spinach, onion, ham/bacon and a small amount of diced tomato. I'm pretty sure it had some eggs but not a lot that it was like a traditional quiche. It also had a thick layer of bubbly, golden cheese baked on top. Can you please fulfill by food wish?
Simple yet delicious !
Thank you so much
God bless you
Thanks for the video. How many turns on average does it require to fully cook the cut whole chicken of say 4 lbs?
I like this guy!
Why am I watching this when I'm hungry...
Thanks a lot for sharing.....just the thing that works for my weekday lunch with the salad or rice....as I don't have the time to do anything else...
hahahaha.... just love your descriptions...."listen to your chicken"... hahahhaha
Ahhh.. so wonderful. I just get a full stomach watching your videos. Greetings from the sunny south!!!! :)
You are the T.Boone Pickens
Of broiling chicken
Thanks for showing me this! I shall broil some chicken soon!
Congratulations! very nice method! would be nice to add some lemon juice to the process or might make the chicken not so crispy?
i love how to see them, thanks for sharing
First of your videos I've seen. Subscribed. Awesome channel \m/
Looks absolutely yummy, thank you for sharing this recipe
in germany, roasted chicken in general is called a broiler by many people(yes, the english word). This is owed to the american/english occupation forces after world war 2. People kind of adopted the english word into the german language.
my favorite spice rub for chicken is salt, pepper and sage. Simple and always good.
Brilliant. I can't wait to try this. Thank you for posting this video.
I like the looks of that one Chef!
That’s really a great idea for chicken. I have been doing for salmon, but never for chicken. I wonder if you can do the same for Schrimp?
Love you chef
looks great
will this work in toaster convection oven? ty for video
Can you show us how to properly cook quinoa. And how to make a quinoa salad.
great vid! as usual!
Loving the 1080p Chef John. Food looks amazing!
This technique is definitely one to try.
This looked amazing! Definitely trying this soon. But first trying your KFC tomorrow night!
OMG Perfect!
Just what I was looking for!!!!!!
It's crazy how something so simple can look so good.
GLORIOUS 1080p! I...I love you.
I'm trying this broiler method with your "five spice chicken". Since the chicken halves are wet from the repeated bastings, why does the chicken have to be patted dry before broiling? Thanks
So nice he named it twice!
So nice, they named it twice
Chef John, I'm loving these new 1080p vids. It's almost as good as tasting the food myself!
Well, not really. But with the increased resolution, I could swear I can smell it!
I also wanna make a huge shoutout to those haters who tore me down after (politely) asking for 1080p videos all those times. Eat my ass with lemon and oregano. :)
Brilliant. Nothing to say, but UPRATED.
I know you said that the chicken has to be dry. But what if I wanted to do this with a peri peri marinade which is a wet marinade?
Ooh my favorite
How doing how to broil steaks indoors in the oven? I have the idea that this would be a decent alternative for when that season that starts with a W makes grilling outdoors impossible/
