I learn lots watching you and I very much find inspiration in your creations. I love how you offer a close up of your work whilst explaining the process and why you decide to to that particular technique. I've followed you from the beginning and I'm thrilled to have purchased some of your own decoupage designs. I love all you do and best wishes for your health that you've mentioned , I know from my own experience how it can be a real struggle at times ❤

I love how your artistic eye can take all those disparate elements and see how beautiful it will be with them all together. Thank you so much for sharing! ❤💕
Gosh, I don’t know! I think this is my favorite one now! I’m so glad you ended up with the beautiful blue on this one. The cherub handles are perfect! Everything tied together so well! I wasn’t sure how you could make that piece of furniture more beautiful but you did it! I loved all the little details of the piece, and you highlighted all of them. ❤❤❤❤❤
I have to say (although I'm a new subscriber) that of all the channels I've seen, yours is one of the few who could not possibly make a video too long. Absolutely dense with great and useful information. A single tip is worth hours of time to anyone serious about doing this. Wait till they realize furniture is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to where these techniques are usable. What an incredibly useful channel! Thank you! :)
I am happy to see you back in form and creating another awsome piece in the comfort of your house. Blending is the part i struggle the most with. I could watch you for hours doing it and listen to all your comments. Stay well ❤
Oh so beautiful! I enjoyed this longer video showing your blending and decoupage techniques. You give baby step by step instructions. I and others I'm sure feel that we are right there with you. The best is your thinking out loud💕
I have no words!!! You have left me speechless, and that’s hard to do!!! Your work is impeccable, and the style in which you teach, is second to none!!! Thank you so much for sharing your talent and your knowledge with us!! ❤
I love blending in decoupage papers that’s why I use so many, you do it beautifully, it took me a while to figure out how to add in extra colour from the colours that are only touches on your paper, hope that makes sense, it’s what makes our work unique even if lots of people use the same designs, this piece is lovely, you use colour wonderfully, it’s what attracts me to your work and papers. I want to large sets of drawers and my partner is looking at wood drawers(he knows I love wood) and I said to him, no we don’t need to spend that kind of money we can buy old solid drawers and I’ll paint and decoupage them to get exactly what I want, and we save furniture, what’s not to love.
Just looking at this piece makes the heart skip a beat Absolutely love the choices you made and the colors used Thank you for sharing your talent in such a genuine real way Love how you and Martin put these videos together He's so quiet in the background Like he's watching along like the rest of us Seeing what you'll create next Wow !
Thanks so much I'm really glad you like it. I'm quietly spoken so I wear a mic marty doesn't wear one so his voice is not picked up but believe me he is not quite ha ha ha Yesterday when filming it was his tummy rumbling. He does like watching things happen and is often a little concerned about my choices. Thanks so much for watching and commenting Lel x
Absolutely stunning (and I thought it was beautiful to begin with!) I was mesmerized, watching you every step of the way! Thanks so much for showing and sharing about each step, each technique.
Absolutely fabulous video filled with so many wonderful nuggets of learning opportunities. Thank you so much for making this informative videos for us all to watch and learn from.
Very beautiful! I would love another tutorial on blending decoupage with other elements! I learned so much and want to keep learning! Awesome job Lel❤️❤️❤️❤️
So inspiring! I would love to come over for a week long - in person- live tutorial. The stuff dreams are made of! Thank you for taking the time and trouble to teach us these fabulous techniques.
first time I watched your work, didn't know if I hated it or liked it. But I did admire your boldness. I have to say that I now look forward to new videos. Some are still a bit busy for me, but some are outstandingly beautiful to me. Thankyou.
I understand art is supposed to make us feel that way.... I also understand that not everything I do can suit everyone. I admire your honest comment.... My mum says some of my furniture is gaudy... Ha ha Just remember if you like some elements take the concept and change it to suit your style. I make statement furniture but by changing colours and pairing back the design it could be just right for you.... Love Lel x
I just started the video, and I almost fainted when you said what you got this beauty for lol. This is literally my dream piece. Even if you don’t redo it and create content using this gorgeous piece, it’s incredible to use as is. How is it still in that greatest shape and oh my goodness The the veneers are remarkable and in perfect condition. But I can’t wait to see you work your magic, and do all your tactics to this piece. The truth is the beauty of this piece of furniture, the style, and the quality. It is in this moment, I wouldn’t trust anybody else to do a total artistic redo of it. I’m afraid they’d make it less. But I am not worried in the least with it in your hands💞.
I love it! Fan-tastic artwork! I think even Martyn was blown away by it (hence the sniffling in the background - he was just so emotional). LOLOL. Love ya both, thanks for the awesome video.🥰I love L-O-N-G videos. I kept going back and forth to the barn to do finish coats while I watched it so it took me two hours to see it - I can't stay up there because it wasn't even 30 degrees F there today. Soooo cold (2 degrees this morning.) 🥶
@@MadebyMarley It is!! Nothing like a cold barn and you know what I'm talking about! Yes, I have my tattoo picked out. I just need to decide on an appropriate piece for it! I'm excited - you are doing it, aren't you? I love our community! 😘
Wow I think I’ve said this before but I’m sure this piece is my favourite the flowers are absolutely beautiful colours & adding the words & everything else just makes it a masterpiece, 👌x

#Replay You are such an incredible artist. I just discovered you at the new IOD release and you have showed me so much already. You have such a talent for painting but also teaching. Thank you.
I am rolling on you.... Finest Seeds and Pulbs...lol Once again proving how you adapt and overcome & make it your own. I so wished you lived coast. I just want to come see you create from start to finish. They way your minds works. I don't paint for sell...just piece for me... well that is the intention but I need to get my but in gear.
Ha ha ha sometimes I do in my head think oh no its a step to far but I just keep thinking about my plan in my head. Ha ha ha ha I'm laughing Georgia thanks for that funny comment I love it Lel x
Watching this video for a second time. Goodness, it seems completely new to me since I have no memory of having watched it before! Must be getting old, feeble minded ~ sigh... Thoroghly enjoyed it, amazed at the transformation. How do you do it? What appears as a haphazard mess, you magically pull it together creating a beautiful piece of art. I noticed that you also added some stamping, but didn't demonstrate that part... It seems to me, this is the type of project that you most enjoy doing. Not fully planned out that you pull together as it goes. Honestly, you blow my mind. Hopefully, I will now remember this project and will try to incorporate some of the techniques you used in my own pieces. It's a joy watching you work! Love always, Sydni
Thanks Sydni..... I do plan the look or how I plan it to look.... But often I work backward I find the large pieces and get my positioning right and then try and blend it together this is where I kind of fly by my seat of my pants ..... I sometimes stray from my original concept when I get closer to the end if I think it's needing something. Generally they often finish as I had imagined or kind of close to my original drawing. There are some videos where I don't plan I just have fun, I pretend I'm not in front of a camera and do what I like but they are few and far between. X x x
Fab result - as always! So many cool ideas. My brain is exploding with inspiration. Thank you for sharing. You mention printing the free source images, which is a great idea. But where do I buy decoupage paper to print on? Thanks.
Well our paper is special paper that is made for our large printing printers but if I'm honest any paper you can print on just your normal printer paper but remember your printer needs to be a laser or it will smear. X X ❤️
Absolutely unbelievable ..Beautiful and Worth So Much more ( id think it wouod have been donated somewhere if not bought at Auction. I think you got Lucky that Day ☘️....but hate to say..on these pieces as before..I couldn't paint over it 😢😊😭💔I WANT IT !!
Queensweet, I dont know where you are in the world and how many piece like this you come across, but here in the UK they are all to familiar in the Auction rooms and on marketplace. And the simple truth is, they would end up in landfill. I'm a furniture Artist. Every single video I do, I paint furniture, which sells and is a good business for me. I understand that maybe you would not have painted it but you dont own the piece and as the owner of it, It's my choice to do what I do ha ha. How about having a look around youtube for furniture restoration videos, as I feel this maybe more what you would like. My channel is built on like minded people who do what I do, so maybe my channel is not the one for you. This being said, we welcome all and if you do enjoy what we do then stick around, there will be many more pieces like this coming to be given a new lease of life with paint. :) :)
Lel, that is absolutely stunning can't believe no one wanted it and you got it for $15. Bet you wish you could do that every day! It did take me 2 cups of tea to get through it 🤣. One time could you show how long you leave the inlays on when using topcoat and then taking them off again? Sometimes I get it perfect and sometimes it's a disaster.
It's fabulous Judy often at the antique auction I get lots of pieces that no one wanted.... And for prices that astound me.... X Only one thing to do move to Scotland x
I will think about a video, it's just it would be hours if I didn't do it off camera and I don't think anyone would watch a video that long many would get bored I think x
Hi, Of all the youtube´s I watch, I watch yours's over and over again. That´s because you teach!! I am learning so much with you and before I ask the question you are answering it !! Ha Ha!! Question? Can I paint with chalk paint on melamine? I had a carpenter made me here in Peru a cabinet for my crafts, just like the one like Dreambox. The front was plain so I added small wood long molding in the middle (made a long rectangle), it looks better. I want it French country but elegant and some color. I´ve Been practicing your style of painting (blending) , but with my acrylic paint , until I buy chalk paint. I will be going to U.S. next week so I'll get some molds while I´m there for my doctor visit´s. Here in Peru they only sell chalk paint from Rust-Oleum can I use that? Annie Soloan paint doesn't send to Peru. I hope you can answer me before I come back to Peru. Please look into The colorful mountains of Peru !! You´ll see how nature colors those mountain´s naturally. And how the indigenous people dress up their Lama´s. I know you love color. You´ll love this.
Yes you can paint melamine with rustoleum paint, I started years ago with rustoleum and it will do perfectly. You may need 2 coats and don't forget to seal it with top coat or wax. oh and yes I'm already looking at Peru as inspiration X X ❤️ Have a safe trip to the states and stay well. Lel X ❤️
I generally do but it depends on how your piece looks you don't want to get your perfect blend on then maybe think oh I have to touch that up.... I think I would, I hope this helps x
Hi Lel. Where did you get the first image. I know you had it sent to you but I mean did you copy it onto tissue paper or something. The fact it seems to become invisible is amazing. I'm hooked on you now. Best teacher ever. Do you have any tips on how to find someone who will sell them for you. I'm in Ireland.
Hi Deborah.... I'm not sure if you know but we own our own decoupage paper Company. I printed the 3 designs onto our paper as its not a design i sell. Our paper is thicker than tissue but its really good for wrinkle free and it rips less. If you want me to print of the 3 images for you and just charge you the price of a 3 pack happy to. Just email sales@madebymarley.co.uk and we can help you out. Thanks so very much for your kind comments.... Blending is just mixing paint to match your background and once you get it you will be addicted ha H Lel x
Thanks Lel. It was the Queen image I was talking about. The iod inlay. Never saw them before. I am going to start with items like sewing or recipe boxes and signs. I have joined an upcycling co-op and when I get to bigger pieces I will take you up on your offer. I have looked at your website and your papers are lovely. I can manage for now with small images but I will get back to you. How big do your papers go?
I'm back.... It's been about another year or more since I last sat mesmerized watching you create this mixed media design on a piece of furniture. I am no less 'mesmerized' watching this video again and again. No wonder I fell in love with you. In fact, it was love at first sight, and I continue to watch in awe every week with each new piece you create. Each week I write singing your praises, do you get tired of the endless praise i bestow on you? I can imagine it is rather tiresome, and maybe a bit uncomfortable having me and SO MANY others heap so much praise on you. Hard to feel that you have to live up to what others expect from watching you work... Perhaps if you make something that's boring, or flat, that fails, so your adoring fans will step back and think, well, you are not as good as they thought you were....? Bring us back down to earth, so you can feel relieved at being idolized. Hard to imagine being in that position. No doubt, you never thought you'd be so adored by SO many of us who wait and watch each week for our Sunday treat. Well, you have exposed yourself and made that dynamic impression you've made you can't escape... OK, I quit rambling on, which is my nature that surely you've noticed that I do whenever I comment. Thank you again for being that bright spot in my life, that takes me away from the anguish I am crippled by dealing with the dangerous political issues we in the U.S. are facing. I've said enough. Many hugs and much love to you and Martyn too. Sydni
I don't really think to much about the praise, I just try to live up to it if I can.... Without pressure on myself. It was a very good one this video.....
Hey there Kim, this one was long the blending on the front took a day and I mean from about 9am till 11pm...do you find you loose hours blending? Well I do all the time. I think maybe all in solidly working on this took about 4 days... That's quite quick as I was indoors my paint was drying fast if I had been in my stable studio it would have taken nearly a week as things take longer there. I manage to listen to many audio books in a week... Ha ha Not all my pieces are as long mostly they take a couple of days... While I'm doing all the repetitive painting marty looks after the rest of the buisness like sales and deliveries, website etc I'm lucky as I'm not good at that side.... X x
@@MadebyMarley Girl you are soooo lucky to have Martyn. My husband is still working full time at the moment. He said he'd love to deliver furniture across the US for me when he's retired, then he can play golf along the way home from each destination. I have been focused mostly on jewelry armoires since coming to New Jersey from California (4 years now) as they are easy for me to ship FED EX. They too take me a long while to do as there are so many moving parts, at least a week as I also completely reline them with new velvet. I don't mind them taking long as they sell for a pretty penny when they do, and I too listen to many books while working, so win/win! I just love your style so much and am so excited about these papers. I've been binge watching your UA-cam channel at the shop getting lots of great ideas. Watching your stamping techniques are giving me the confidence to get into my stamp collection now...I usually stick with stenciling as I tend to blob up any stamping situation. Thank you for creating these videos, I know you and Martyn have to put so much time and effort into them and we all really appreciate it. xoxo PS...I made my husband watch Martyn's "Frottage" video last week, he really got a kick out of him!
Hello ♥️ Top coat and sealer are just the same thing.... The last coat the top coat if you like.... I use French chic tuff coat sealer and I used this to apply the parts of the inlays and to seal my piece. Generally however I like to use wax and did add a little yo the front over my sealer when it was finished... Although I didn't show this as it was an afterthought ha ha

Stunning piece! 😍
Thanks so much for letting me know you like it and for watching

Good to see you. Have been missing you.
Ha ha here I am like the crazy painty lady I am x x
so, so lovely!
Hi Deb.... Thanks for watching and commenting and following as usual... I always look for you.
Lel x
Lel, that is absolutely stunning can't believe no one wanted it and you got it for $15. Bet you wish you could do that every day! It did take me 2 cups of tea to get through it 🤣. One time could you show how long you leave the inlays on when using topcoat and then taking them off again? Sometimes I get it perfect and sometimes it's a disaster.
Mmm Linda yes I will next inlay project I will run over times that work best for me.... Thanks for watching x x
Oh and sorry it was so long....
Well Another Beauty!
Just in AWW ! Truly Amazing! ❤ Ya
Thanks so much Ondina for watching and leaving us a comment
Lel x
Shut the front door I can’t find anything at all under $250 and certainly not like that🤔 But I watch you do another beautiful piece and I get inspired
It's fabulous Judy often at the antique auction I get lots of pieces that no one wanted.... And for prices that astound me.... X
Only one thing to do move to Scotland x
I wish😢😢

AMAZEBALLS!!!!!!!!
H ha ha thanks so sorry it was so long
I would love to watch you do it from start to finish without you leaving 😂 so we learn more about mixing colours blending etc
I will think about a video, it's just it would be hours if I didn't do it off camera and I don't think anyone would watch a video that long many would get bored I think x
It's absolutely gorgeous.
Beautiful colours.
I love everything about your videos.
Thanks so very much x x
You may need 2 coats and don't forget to seal it with top coat or wax. oh and yes I'm already looking at Peru as inspiration X X ❤️
Have a safe trip to the states and stay well.
Lel X ❤️
Where did you get that amazing angel handles you put on the drawers? 😮
TK Max always check there x
Thanks 👍
Ha! Wish you were here. Do you do the inside and door rims. I've only seen the white rabbit cabinet before this one.
I generally do but it depends on how your piece looks you don't want to get your perfect blend on then maybe think oh I have to touch that up....
I think I would, I hope this helps x
Also is chalk paint essential. I have been using acrylic emulsion but haven't tried blending it.
Mmmm I'm not sure I blend acrylics generally but I'm unsure about emulsion you could always test on an old board first..... See how you get on x
Got it. Inlay. Never heard of it.
A company called Iron orchid designs have the inlays they are applied with paint.
Google a stockist near you x
Blending is just mixing paint to match your background and once you get it you will be addicted ha H

Hey Deborah fab I love that your getting into upcycyled items that's how I started.....
The papers are A3.
Let me know how your projects go x
Thanks.
❤
Thanks so much ❤️
THIS! Is flipping gorgeous. How long did this take? Only an hour on camera, hahaha, but I'm dying to know the reality.
Ha ha
Not all my pieces are as long mostly they take a couple of days... While I'm doing all the repetitive painting marty looks after the rest of the buisness like sales and deliveries, website etc
I'm lucky as I'm not good at that side....
Thank you for creating these videos, I know you and Martyn have to put so much time and effort into them and we all really appreciate it. xoxo
PS...I made my husband watch Martyn's "Frottage" video last week, he really got a kick out of him!
I love how you told us how to fix wrinkles and boo boos thank you
Well they happen to everyone so it's only fair to show you how to fix them x x
Lel, when you say Top Coat, is that a thing, like a brand, , or do you mean the mod podge or varnish ot whatever you are using as a sealer?
Hello ♥️
Top coat and sealer are just the same thing.... The last coat the top coat if you like....
I use French chic tuff coat sealer and I used this to apply the parts of the inlays and to seal my piece. Generally however I like to use wax and did add a little yo the front over my sealer when it was finished... Although I didn't show this as it was an afterthought ha ha
Got it! Thanks so much. Love the piece by the way. 💕
💕🥰💕
😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
Showstopper. Chelsea flower show showstopper.
Thanks so much x for watching and for being so kind x
