I just upgraded my desktop amp from Fosi Audio BT30D to BT30D Pro. The difference in power delivery is massive. With regular BT30D I often need to crank up the volume knob to 60-70% to get the volume I want, and I don't listen to loud music. With the Pro I rarely need to reach 50%. Sound quality is also improved. The regular BT30D uses very unusual opamps (I forgot the number, but they are quad opamps and are not commonly used in signal line), while the PRO uses the generic 5532 opamps. Also the regular B30D has this problem of clipping if the input signal is too high, and the PRO doesn't have that problem. I bought it for around $76 I've replaced the opamps of the regular BT30D with 4562 and it sounds way better. I'm planning to replace the 5532 of the PRO with 4562 also
Ha! if I was going for one of these that's the exact question I had, how did the bt30d/bt30d-s compare to the pro considering the $30+ price difference..thanks. I think the bt30d pro is the best currently at $100 or less

I've also recently got into these cheap Amazon/China class D amps, and picked up the Fosi DA2120C that has a built in DAC and more inputs. As reference, I've been in the home theater space as a hobbyist for like 20 years (god I feel old now), and my current HT setup consists of several thousands of dollars worth of gear, but I've never ventured into this mini amp/DAC setup space before, and I'll tell you right now, I prefer my Fosi DA2120C 2.1 setup for music than my current 5.1.2 setup. I've got cheap JBL Loft speakers connected to the Fosi and a Kantu Sub8, and it sounds just perfect for the space it takes up, and the minimal cost. I'm hearing things in music I've simply never heard before, and it's added so much more joy and interest in listening to music. And like many, including cheapaudioman, isn't that the benchmark of a good system - that it makes you want to listen to more music? Not to discredit my 5.1.2 setup, but I simply don't have a way to feed it a good source like I do with the Fosi, which is connected to my laptop for hi-res lossless Apple music. For those with slightly bigger budgets and are concerned about the DAC performance of OPs amp, I'd highly recommend the DA2120C. Currently on sale now for close to an ATL, at $145 after a $20 coupon.
So are you comparing 2 channel stereo from the fosi with a home theatre 5 channel base, 2 atmos system with I suppose a av receiver of some sort? That is the receiver like a denon or or yamaha or something? If you put the receiver in 2 channel stereo to make an equal comparison then music listening should be at least as good as the fosi and most would prob say better on a dedicated 2 channel avr pushing 100-125 watts in 2 channel. Sorry if I'm confused and getting this wrong but a surround sound setup has to divide the total wattage and most importantly listening to music genneraly is better in 2 channel. In addition there are so many selections in an avr that can effect good music listening, such as pure direct mode, is there a surrond up mixing option on, crossover, etc, you prob know all of the details.

Awesome product to promote! I didn't know about these. Gonna have to get one for a birthday present to myself and see how it compares to my receiver for powering my SVS bookshelves
These little chinese amps are hilariouly awesome. I think this is the first youtube video where one kf those little amps got plugged into something big and fancy. Appreciate that. I have fancy big amps but i also have an ayima ao7 and that thing is so much fun because of the upgradeable ness of these things, op amp chips, power supplies, capacitors, etc. Its so easy and careless to work on. It can easily get u started with amp tinkering and increase your knowledge. I think they are awesome little project amps.
I emailed the company about the upgraded power supply and she said they can't get them to us, even though the amazon page says they can direct you to the higher psu. They do sell I think a 36v 7.5 amp version on one of these but I can't tell the difference. I searched for the, I think it's a 10amp, not sure, on amazon and I can't find a consumer version that I can use, it all looks like contractor stuff.
It helps having a good set of speakers to drive like you do but I could tell it was pushing those drivers pretty decently. It had some pretty good bass. By the way the speakers are gorgeous. Thanks for the review I got the 30 but not the pro it wasn't available at the time I bought the 30 it's still a sweet little amp. I think I'm going to upgrade to the pro for the more power cuz who doesn't need more power LOL what size power supply does it come with? because my b t30d only came with a 4.5amp power supply which is not enough to get the potential out of it so I upgraded my power supply and it made a huge difference!
I have a pair of definitive aw6500 8ohm outdoor speakers. Theyre rated 100rms 200peak. I planned on adding a small in ground subwoofer also. Would this amplifier drive those effectively? Im looking for a small foot print like this. As im still willing to purchase something more efficient that may cost more, id like to see what i cam get away with
Does this amp has some "pop sound" when watching movies? Like when scene is in completely silence and someone take a step and the amp suddenly "pop" instead of making the "steps" sounds?
I just had a huge patio done in October and am planning on doing outdoor sound system. Im not sure if i put the cart before the horse, but i just bought 2 polk atrium 8's. Would this be an adequate amp for that or would they limited? If not, would you have any suggestions on a bluetooth amp for outdoor speakers (may add a sub one day)? Thanks much and great vid!
@@rayphillips815 I ended up getting a Wiim Amp for the atriums 8's on the patio and it's great. Oddly however, when I run a projector through it via Bluetooth the max volume isn't as loud as when I run music through it, but it's still adequate
I just got the Fosi Audio BT30D amp to power my speakers and sub. This doesn't have a DAC but I do have the FIIO Q3 headphone amp/DAC. I was going to use my TV Sony 48A9S aux out to Q3 to the BT30D. Is there anything wrong doing this? To power my speaker components and passive subwoofer?
The Aiyima A07 is an even bigger power house at a similar size with the right power supply. It doesn't have bluetooth or tone controls but for a little amp it's pretty great
Was looking at these for a 2.1 set up for my bedroom tv and was like no no because cheap often means crap but your review has made me rethink again. I have a pair of JBL Control One speakers running off my Logitech Z2300 2.1 system & connected to my tv but it’s always been disappointing that it’s a wired control. Loved the look and set up of the Fosi BT30D Pro but it’s only flaw for a tv connection is no remote control 🤷🏼♂️ why why why did they skip the bloody RC. Would’ve been a perfect bedroom tv set up but don’t fancy getting out of bed to adjust the volume 🤦🏼♂️
Anyone know for certain if the main speaker output simultaneously adjust for high pass, coinciding with the adjustment of the low pass freq subwoofer control??? I'm assuming the main speaker out's ALWAYS play full range signal regardless of the subwoofer freq setting?? Reply
The literarture for this amp says that it can be used with either a passive or a powered subwoofer. So, how do you connect a powered subwoofer without a dedicated RCA connector for the subwoofer?
@@SpecOfTech oh alright. So right now I have a 11 channel amp d sonic amp and the avm90. I’m considering adding two more over head channels. I wanted something small and low profile just for those two channels like the one in your video. What would you suggest then?
You could have used bookshelf speakers and hook the powered sub out to one of your towers, just to test out the functionality. I was in the market for a new amp on my desk, and I'm now leaning towards this one for that exact reason. I have one of those huge Yamaha bookshelf speakers that I can use as a passive sub, should add some nice bass to the Sony bookshelves using on my desk.
@@coolmonkey5269 , it's just a knob to turn (no numbers). For accuracy, measurement with REW software and a calibrated microphone would be needed. For such a low cost device, most people will do it by ear.

Right?! For the price you can't really go wrong if it's just for a small setup or a desktop. I find the clarity to be very good for the price too, punches far above its price tag IMO.
@@SpecOfTech For sure! in its intended use, the tech has come a long way. With Fosi, they have a big selection, tubes even. I wouldn't replace my rig with it tho! 😂

@tonyvillarreal6653 thanks for response. I found the same, just wasn't enough RMS power. Instead I repurposed and used it for some Boston Acoustics bookshelf speakers in master bedroom (around 14x19 ft. Paired with echo dot for input, works well with minimal footprint. You have a totally different amplifier than the BT30D because the BT30D has a sub output instead of a preout and the BT30D is only rated at 2x50w and passive sub-100w Max at 4ohms.

@@SpecOfTech I need for right and left surround speakers and the cable is about 26 feet long Do you expect it to enough? If not, I hope you will nominate another. Thanks for responding to me
You think that thing sounds good the way it comes out of the box? Throw you a 10 amp power supply on it and then let the fun begin wake up the neighbors!!! It only comes with a 4.5 amp you do the math it's not going to do its rated power.
I bought 4 different varriants of these and there is one that is higher rated, can't remember something like 36v and 6.5 amps, not sure but it was the next tier over the standard and under 10a I think. Anyway I can't tell the difference in any of them, I think I have 3 different amps versions.
Thanks for the review. Sadly my experience with Chinese designed products is that they mysteriously break 1 week after the warranty expires, must be a built in cycle counter or just subpar components (which is not surprising). So either buy once-cry once and it it'll last you a life-time or something that's cheap, but lasts 2 years, tops. Great review, though, thanks.
Sorry to hear you had that experience. I can't say that is the typical experience though. I know people with budget integrated amps and they are very happy with them.
So, basically anything made in China is the same? My experience has been that it depends quite a bit on the brand and specific model's design. I have a $20 3116 that barely works, it's got a counterfeit chip in it, can't take over 20V. I also have a $50 Aiyima 3116 based 2.1 amp and it's night and day for build quality.
@@ceeweedsl Well, that's the problem - that everything made in China is not the same, highly inconsistent quality. If you buy something designed (not necessarily made) in Japan, Europe, Germany, America, Australia, South Korea etc. you can be pretty sure, you're buying quality, give or take, however Chinese desined stuff, you are flipping a coin and I, for one, am tired of experimenting, especially if it's something pricey. For example would you buy a Chinese designed car? Although 40% less expensive, in 4 years its residual value is between $0 and a landfill...
@@petejay1409 This is not a car, it's a class D amp. Built around the latest Texas Instruments amplifier chips. TI also designed the reference circuit although it's not clear where Fosi varies from that reference. I've been very happy with ours for over a year and it seems robust externally and internally. I like that many of these class D amps use an external power supply. A laptop supply will work though underpowered. One less thing to fail and cause me to trash the amp. I also have an Aiyima 2.1 amp based on the older TI 3116 chips that is very nicely made as well but about half the power. Still loud and clear. Both amazing quality for the money. But hey, if you believe that it's going to fail soon then you should definitely not get anything made in China.

Awesome product to promote! I didn't know about these. Gonna have to get one for a birthday present to myself and see how it compares to my receiver for powering my SVS bookshelves
nice video! can the passive subwoofer output be used to bi-amp the FS Speakers (of course its only 1-channel)
Is the Pre-out port being affected by the Subwoofer controls? I want to connect an active subwoofer to it.
Left Right channels are full range ? Or low fquancy cut off
i recently bought this and haven't hooked it up yet. My instructions say it will handle active or passive speakers & Sub
can I use this with an active subwoofer
It helps having a good set of speakers to drive like you do but I could tell it was pushing those drivers pretty decently. It had some pretty good bass. By the way the speakers are gorgeous. Thanks for the review I got the 30 but not the pro it wasn't available at the time I bought the 30 it's still a sweet little amp. I think I'm going to upgrade to the pro for the more power cuz who doesn't need more power LOL what size power supply does it come with? because my b t30d only came with a 4.5amp power supply which is not enough to get the potential out of it so I upgraded my power supply and it made a huge difference!
if you were to disconnect your subwoofer from the plate amplifier you could use it as passive
Is this entire system passive?
How do you connect all the boxes to only the 3 outputs?
How does this amp perform with 6-ohm speakers like dali oberon 3's? Would you recommend pairing it with them?
Just picked up one for $82!!
I have a pair of definitive aw6500 8ohm outdoor speakers. Theyre rated 100rms 200peak. I planned on adding a small in ground subwoofer also. Would this amplifier drive those effectively? Im looking for a small foot print like this. As im still willing to purchase something more efficient that may cost more, id like to see what i cam get away with
Curious if you went with this Fosi amp for your setup? I ordered Klipsch AW-6500s for outdoor patio and considering this for amp+bluetooth
Does this amp has some "pop sound" when watching movies? Like when scene is in completely silence and someone take a step and the amp suddenly "pop" instead of making the "steps" sounds?
fosi bt30d pro vs fosi bt20a pro Which is more successful?
I wish to see a video wheres is connected to a party speaker or powered subwoofer
Curious if you went this route, since I'm doing and considering just like you! Except my "cart" are the Klipsch AW-650s...
@@rayphillips815 I ended up getting a Wiim Amp for the atriums 8's on the patio and it's great. Oddly however, when I run a projector through it via Bluetooth the max volume isn't as loud as when I run music through it, but it's still adequate
@jovanventura8726 great! Thanks for the reply, always good to have options!
can you do a A B test with this bt30 pro vs expensive amp.
(i like to here this A B test.)
thanks
I just got the Fosi Audio BT30D amp to power my speakers and sub. This doesn't have a DAC but I do have the FIIO Q3 headphone amp/DAC. I was going to use my TV Sony 48A9S aux out to Q3 to the BT30D. Is there anything wrong doing this? To power my speaker components and passive subwoofer?
Hi did you use the default cable?
How do these compair to the old version/ non pro version?
The Aiyima A07 is an even bigger power house at a similar size with the right power supply. It doesn't have bluetooth or tone controls but for a little amp it's pretty great
Yeah, there are plenty of great compact options now. I find these little amps perfect for a hifi desktop setup.
Perfect. Needed something for a couple speakers with wireless to play audio from a tablet while doing scale modeling.
If your TV has bluetooth connection, this amp has it too. So, with the bluetooth, you can adjust the volume also.
Please, in speaker 8ohms? Thank you.
Anyone know for certain if the main speaker output simultaneously adjust for high pass, coinciding with the adjustment of the low pass freq subwoofer control??? I'm assuming the main speaker out's ALWAYS play full range signal regardless of the subwoofer freq setting??
Reply
correct
Does it have a speaker hiss if the volume is at max?
Can this fosi boost a party speaker Like sony?
can you connect a microphone to this for karaoke ?
Nice tunes , must sound awesome in your room, I also love the lighting too , what are you using for that ?
Thanks brother! I am using these: amzn.to/3UiQl8q
and
amzn.to/3UgbMHn
The literarture for this amp says that it can be used with either a passive or a powered subwoofer. So, how do you connect a powered subwoofer without a dedicated RCA connector for the subwoofer?
Yeah I made a mistake in the review. It has a line out for a subwoofer, but it's not an RCA out.
Better than a soundbar?
Yes, much better than a soundbar.
sir how is sub frequency crossover
is it accurate
Just got a bt30d pro, and i need some answers. Does it really heatup when idle, no music playing? It gets hot enough you can cook egg on top of it
Sounds like you might have gotten one with a defect. I would contact them for a replacement.
These new little amps are the shit! But they still can't beat my 1997 RCA SA-155 and that sweet fat analog sound :)
Heating issues 😢😢, solutions please
So can I connect my active sub to this? Was about to purchase. But now I’m confused
Yes, did it with the 3,5mm pre-out.
Bit of a dumb question, but how do these knobs come into play if you’re plugging it into a receiver?
No such thing as a dumb question, we are all learning. You don't plug this into a receiver, it's essentially an integrated amp, it is the receiver.
Exactly what I was thinking !
You are absolutely right about that possible test. A missed opportunity.
🤔 do you know what the crossover setting is on the passive sub output?
Variable up to 300 Hz.
@@michaels3003 sir how is sub frequency crossover
is it accurate
@@coolmonkey5269 , it's just a knob to turn (no numbers). For accuracy, measurement with REW software and a calibrated microphone would be needed. For such a low cost device, most people will do it by ear.
@@michaels3003 thanks for reply sir ive decided to buy it. bcz this is the only model which has crossover + 2.1 ch
im confuse about power supply
thy give 36V 5A power brick in the box
will it give 350w for sub
shud i upgrade it
what is max volts and amps i can give
thy claim 350 + 165 + 165 w rms
what is actual rms at 4ohms sub and speaker i connect. will i get.
with the 5A 36V adapater stock
Don't they also make an amp with a preamp out for a subwoofer?
This one has a pre out
Cool review! Those little amps are impressive. I have 2 SMSL SA300's. One on my desk top, and one in my family room. My TV is above the fireplace, preventing a center ch, so I have a 2.1 set up there. Amazingly they kick ass! Sub outs, tone controls and decent power. Can't go wrong with the Fosi, especially for the price. A good steak costs as much these days lol. 😂
I paid $60 for a nice fosi, and last time I was at RC I don't remember the steaks being that much. In grocery I think it's around $45 for a 4 pack of filets.
Would this be good for an outdoor pool area? 4 speakers and sub?
No because it only powers 2 speakers. Even if you split that and power 4 speakers, this amp isn't really built for that.
@@SpecOfTech thanks for the quick reply!
@@SpecOfTech any recommendations for what I’m trying to do?
Depends on the speaker impedance. If they are 8 ohms then you could run them parallel giving 4 ohms and it will work.
Weird how they didn't include the LFE out on the pro model.
It was my mistake, I missed the 3.5mm pre-out for subwoofer on the back. That is what I get for rushing a review before I had to head out of town.
Could this amp powers 2 Polk Atrium 8s outside?
That shouldn't be a problem, those speakers are quite efficient. It should be able to drive them to fairly loud leveles without any issues.
Can this power Yamaha ns 8390 floor speakers
Did you go this route? I'm considering nearly the same with two Klipsch AW-650 speakers.
I didn’t, wasn’t enough for what I was looking for,
@tonyvillarreal6653 thanks for response. I found the same, just wasn't enough RMS power. Instead I repurposed and used it for some Boston Acoustics bookshelf speakers in master bedroom (around 14x19 ft. Paired with echo dot for input, works well with minimal footprint. For patio, I bought the Sony STR-DH190 with builtin Bluetooth. Works well.
How you get the led to flash to the music bro ????
You need RGBIC lights, because the IC stands for independent control, meaning it can control each light separately. I use Govee RGBIC lights, here are some links to the lights I use:
amzn.to/40OJBkz
amzn.to/3ADaZXZ
You have a totally different amplifier than the BT30D because the BT30D has a sub output instead of a preout and the BT30D is only rated at 2x50w and passive sub-100w Max at 4ohms.
You're right, I did say in the video that this is the BT30D Pro 😉. It is slightly different than the standard BT30D...cheers.
Plz man can you help here this is Enough for Klipsch RP-8000F II 2 channel.
This is the speaker's information from the company.
RECOMMENDED AMPLIFIER POWER (CONT. / PEAK):
150 W / 600 W
It would be enough to drive them to "loud enough" levels, but really this amp is geared for a small room or desktop. I would recommend getting something a little more substantial for a medium to large room.
@@SpecOfTech I need for right and left surround speakers and the cable is about 26 feet long Do you expect it to enough? If not, I hope you will nominate another.
Thanks for responding to me
This is currently $110 at Amazon
U gotta start trying Salem on ur speakers Lol
I wish more people would make videos like this had more of a background in electronics=4.5amps×36volts=180 watts...educate yourselves.
Feel free to make your own videos and upload them to UA-cam.
What happened to the JTR subs? Is the review coming soon.
Definitely have a review coming, stay tined!
I wondered about that, so on sale I got some for about $60 so it's not like I'm out that much if breaks in a year or so.
165w per channel is too much for a PC or Bookshelf speakers...
Very nice ... I currently have a Fossi BT30D/ Sony SSCS5 speakers/Toshiba BDX2500 BluRay (used to play my CDs & view movies) & my 50” TV in my bedroom.... I use this mainly (90%) for music and I also use my mobile via Bluetooth for listening to some playlists .... I am going to buy this New BT30D Pro for the bedroom and will sell the older BT30D .... note: I also have a full size stereo audio system in the living room (Yamaha AS500/ Marantz UD5007/ Yamaha T70/ Elac Debut 6.2) 🤠
So , you are happy with fosi? Because I'm thinking of getting one for music listening. Thanka
@@philjagdon6774 .... yes, I recently sold the older BT30D to a friend for his office system and have purchased the BT20A Pro and the V3 for myself: the BT20A Pro is in the bedroom now and the V3 is with a Marantz DV4001 & QAcoustics 3020 in the spare bedroom (used as office / exercise room) - both the BT20A Pro & the V3 sound very very good ... especially given the size and price !!!
