    I have thin fine hair, after 26 years of trying to have an Afro I arrived at the conclusion that all dreams are not valid.

      Shiko Wanjiku I have the same issue but my hair is becoming thicker so keep maintaining and have protein treatments once in a while .
      Castor oil does work, put some on your roots regularly and massage your scalp afterwards do it every for a week.
      Check the length before and after 2 see the difference.
      I saw it work 4 me, my hair is fuller and longer!

      Jumoke Girl that's very true I have the same issue but it strengthened my hair for some reason...
      Protein treatment like a henna mask or coffe or herbal tea rinse , Castor oil and scalp messages worked 4 me as thin hair Afro girl so hopefully it can for someone else!

    I remember telling my aunt that I had fine hair and her saying that I had coarse hair. I feel like people in general and also specifically in the black community say that their hair is thick or coarse meaning that it is hard to handle but your hair can be tightly coiled and still not be thick or coarse. The two do not always go together. I also think that having textured hair in general people automatically assume that it is thick, but looks can be deceiving.

    I have a hang up about hair thickness. I never cared about texture, I ALWAYS obsessed over thickness and density of my hair. Im so envious of 4b/4c UA-cam naturals that have extremely thick hair/ I mean I do have dense hair, but I want it 7x thicker!

    • @Jumoke

    I have thin & fine hair. I have less hair follicles and my strands are very thin compared to the thickness of others' strands. I try to explain this to ppl all the time cause they think I have thick hair and I tell them it's just how I manipulate it to give an illusion of thick hair. Most ppl still do think thin hair means damaged hair as well.

    The ends of my hair is fine, but I have 4c kinky coily hair. I stretch my hair, but I don't want it too stretched, because it will look like spaghetti. So I embrace puffy hair, it makes my hair look thicker.

      You took the words right out of my mouth. I never thought I would prefer twist outs to braid outs, but braid outs overly stretch my hair, making it look too stringy, while twist outs provide just the right amount of stretch plus shrinkage. Who knew that shrinkage would become my best friend!

    • @Jumoke
      @Jumoke  7 років тому +6

      Cheryl 21 thank u lol someone understand the only stretch I do is pick it An let it naturally shrink back but still get a little stretch lol
      When I was doing twist or coil out I undo it the spray with water lol then pick it out I just wanted the ends to have cool shape but rest fluffy like a cloud :p

    I've given up on salons unless I need a trim because they all tell me how "pretty" my hair is then proceed to treat it like its that full thick hair that can hold any style. I walk out looking like I have 2 strands of hair and my new style blows away as soon as a little breeze hits it. Advice to my fellow fine and thin hair girls; reduce how often you wash to a max of 1x per week (even less in the winter), if you take any medication consistently, read the side effects because sometimes they impact hair thickness, stop heat and chemical straighteners NOW and finally, pray that it doesn't get worse as you get older. PS: you have 1 more strand than me lucky girl!

    I have thick fine hair. my mom had my strands analyzed at a cosmetology when I was little. She wanted to know why it wouldn't hold curls for long if she did a press and curls. When I later got relaxers I used all kinds of hold products and the curls didn't last. Now natural again fingercoiling is a joke. I can really only wear my own pattern for more than a little while. I dont understand why people talk negatively about coarse hair when actually coarse hair can be EASIER to care for because it doesn't get damaged or break off as easily. It's sturdier. My hair is easily heat damaged. The group of people most likely to have coarse hair are Asians.

    I have medium density with a mix of fine and medium hair strands. I could work with that combination. I wish more popular UA-camrs explained that instead of sending us on a scavenger hunt for products that "makes hair thick" 😒 like if I have 25 strands per inch and u have 100, how ur product gonna help me sis huh? How?

    I would say if you haven't already get your blood levels checked. I've been researching, and while some people do naturally just have thin strands it could be related to a deficiency in vitamin d or iron...or really any vit/mineral.

    I'm so glad I found your channel! 😃😃 it's so frustrating seeing all these natural hair videos knowing that NONE of it will work for you. I didn't flat iron or use any heat on my hair for a full year but I think I'll go back to it. I've never really needed a perm because when if I leave my hair in a ponytail long enough (all of 30 min, basically when it dries) it'll be straight. I have mixed 2a/3a hair. It's wavy at the top & middle and baby doll curls on the sides & in the back. Most ppl don't understand the struggle 😂

    Im glad , you did a video explaining the textures. some girl looked at my hair and said "wow her hair is really coarse" I guess out of ignorance she meant that it is "hard" (majority is 4c and the nape is 4a)but SIS, I do not have coarse hair. its fine! SMH. some strands are like extra fine. I have low porosity, fine , thick hair . its like my hair is the definition of an oxymoron.

    Okay, so I am not 100% sure I have thin hair, but I know w/o a doubt that what grows from my hair is definitely fine. I have to treat my hair like delicate lace, especially the entire perimeter of my hair, the perimeter is like a mix between 3c with a small mix of 3b, while the rest of my hair is primarily 4a. I have struggles styling it because it is prone to breakage. Using products that are heavy is just asking for it lol. I've been implementing protein treatments which is truly helping. And I also am giving my hair a break from any kind of twists or braids. There are certain things that I want to do with my hair, but I fear the result because of childhood memories 😣 lol long story, but I have always known that I have extremely fine hair, and I'm trying to learn to care and nurture it. Anyone else dealing with this?

    I can totally relate. I have 4a-c hair, and both high and low porosity and thin/low density hair that’s medium thickness. My biggest problem that I cannot seem to get right is that my crown which is 4C and high porosity keeps breaking. Instead of starting over and giving into just relaxing my hair, I’m trying to treat that section differently this time. Hopefully it will recover, but I wish I had all of 1 type.

    This can be confusing, especially if you've transitioned recently. I think of the difference as--fine as the opposite of thick/coarse and thin as the opposite of dense/full. I have a lot, or a high density of super fine hair.

    Do you fine that your styles don't last more than a day??? If not, how do you make it last. My hair is extra soft, thin and fine and will not hold a style longer than a day and half.

      Jen C I use curl restore creams. the only one that works for me is soft sheen curl restorer in a yellowish gold and red bottle. I use it for wash n go's, braid/twist outs. my hair is thin and fine it used to erk my nerves doing a style then the next day it doesn't look like I even tried to do anything to it. it's just a big poof you can see through. lol. that curl restorer is my best friend.

    what do you mean when you say 4c hair, because I hear see it all the time on hair videos?

    • @Jumoke
      @Jumoke  7 років тому

      4c is a hair type. Based on a typing system from 1 (straight) to 4 (kinky), 4c hair has the tightest curl pattern

    comparisons ive seen on other videos for determining fine/coarse hair strands is usually with a piece of sewing thread: thinner than the thread is fine, same thickness and thicker is coarser. im definitely on the fine end

    • @Jumoke
      @Jumoke  7 років тому +1

      but thread is usually coarser than even coarse hair but yeah fine hair squad!

    • @sglp393
      @sglp393 7 років тому

      Jumoke lol guess it depends on the thread but I've read on blogs and forums that people use 2ply or separate it into 1ply

    my hair has never held a permed or natural style. I would always cut it shorter than I needed. it is now longer than the length in which I would have cut it. but I just keep it n braids under a scarf. I'm afraid to do anything because I want her to feel save at this longer length. lol I know this sounds crazy. but yeah I want length too but how can I? i don't know what a split end looks like because my hair is very fine. no perm since 2003. hair should be longer but I have not cut it short since 2010. still struggling with it. #safewithbraidsnoweave.

    • @Jumoke
      @Jumoke  7 років тому

      lol I get ya! And sometimes you can see the split and other times it's how your hair behaves. For me, I start seeing little dusty pieces of hair when I manipulate my hair so I know it's time to trim

    My hair is thick where I have a lot of strands per square inch. But the overall texture of my strands are fine, and it’s frustrating. I never see any natural hair gurus or bloggers with fine strands. I feel like we’re the super rare ones in the natural hair community.😕

      Jumoke Really? I rarely see naturals with fine strands. Always course or medium. I’ll still keep up with my regimen. Just found out that my iron is low which is a huge factor in healthy hair growth. So I started taking Iron supplements last month.

    thin hair = low density
    fine hair = the size of the strands is as thin as a piece of string
    that what i think it is any way, but you can have so many different textures of hair on one head

    I have very coarse very dense low porosity hair. Water beads up on it like water on a ducks back. I can't do a wash 'n' go because every single hair has a mind of its own. There is virtually no curl pattern. Thee are different patches of hair that range from 2c - 4c. What do I do?It is strong and thick so at least I have that! Please see my natural hair art at:
