Pictures really are worth a thousand words. Viewing photos over time, will help you determine when your edges began to thin out. I did major damage to my edges with braids. They weren’t fully restored; however the amount of regrowth is quite significant.
I know there is debatable evidence about the power of oils but I’ve been using a mixture of JBCO, pumpkin seed oil, and peppermint oil on my edges almost daily for about 3 weeks. I literally see a difference, even when my edges are manipulated. This works for me. I know it can be so uncomfortable having thin edges. Thank you for this video!
My baby hairs grew back but I worry that they don't grow very fast. Feels like they won't ever turn from baby hairs to "teenage hairs" and fully grow :(
I’m a visual learner. I appreciate your channel so much. I’m smart in a lot of ways, but simple things for some people are harder to grasp for me without seeing it. Thank you.
For almost two years my hair remained at the same length, though I didn't know how to take care of natural hair ,I'd use my bath wash on my hair and the hair started to break badly that it couldn't conrow anymore and I have a very soft but thick hair strand ,so I watched some of your videos and started to learn how to care for my 4c hair ,I Incorporated ayurvedic herbs every wash day ,though it's just back to the mini afro I used to know but I believe with time,it would grow ,thanks for this video 🤍
Just gave up weave and wigs 4 days ago. At first I was lost, but knowing that I was going to be bald if I didn’t stop Motivated me to trash those old concepts about my hair and I. I had a sexy natural hair day for the 1st time ever today! Been trying to be natural since my early 20s and I feel like to today I accomplished that. I had to start over so many times due to ignorance, but there is no band-Aid anymore so I take it a day at a time. Give my hair what it needs as I go on and do my research!
Me too sis! Give me the infografic version 🤣. This had been so helpful. 7 years natural and I have to say I have a love/hate relationship with hair. I just scalped again in April. I am contemplating cutting for waves but until then I definitely want to start learning my hair. Your chart is a game changer, methods to determine where my hair is on the chart are so simple. I think just the chart alone is going to help my hair take a new direction. Thank you!
It's also important to be aware of what causes thining edges. The cause could be a nutritional deficiency such as iton deficiency anemia and that can only be adressed through medical intervention.
Hi. About 1 year ago, my doctor informed me that my iron was low. She explained explained me that the iron deficiency may be the culprit behind the reason I began to lose hair around my hairline (especially, directly in the middle). Since then, I haven't seen any significant change. Every time I go back to my pcp, she runs tests that come back clear for everything except my previous diagnosis. Do you suggest that I ask to be out on a higher dosage of iron?
I thought so too but I built a routine that was supposed to stop me from loosing more hair and guess what? My edges are growing back, slowly but they definitely are growing. Don't give up
I said the same thing until I started using rosemary essential oil with Jamaican black castor oil and derma rolling 3x a week😭 it’s been a month and my edges are finally coming back
Thank you for this video it really helped realized that my edges were thinning out when you showed that picture of the girl whose hair was in a bun! My hair line looked exactly like mine but I thought that was just a normal hairline. Both sides of my family experienced complete baldness around the perimeter so I thought it was going to happen to me sometime later but it looks like its slowing happening right now! Thanks for the tips on how to restore your edges I'm going to try it!
@@oladunjoyeesther9032 I do like box braids but only let my mom or a trustworthy hairstylist do them, or myself if it's without extensions like mini braids. But yes twists are great for quick styles that don't require tension and look fuller.
Thank u for sharing, ur videos have helped me tremendously. I am currently working on improving my iron intake. Nettles and I have become good friends.🤗
Thank you sooo much for this😭 my hair has been thinning because of braids. I stopped doing them two years ago but it’s still not back to normal. Could you do more videos explaining how we can fix this problem?
How often do you wash your hair (edges inclusive) What type of styles do you do? Styles like tight buns and puffs can still cause damage to your edges. If your follicles around that place are dead there may not be any remedy however, some claim that you can wake them up with ayurvedic powders such as amla etc with rosemary essential oil.
I've lost the edges in my nape behind my ears more on one side than the other. The hairs there are very weak and fine. The texture is practically straight there as well. Don't know why 🤷🏽♀️
That area is usually associated with wearing your hair up. There is a reason why, take a critic look at everything. B/c it’s important to identify what’s going on so it doesn’t advance
I’m a man and I always hade waves, been dipping my entire life using old school blue magic and mane/ tail shampoo, but for the past 2 yrs my corners have been thinning little by little . I cut my hair bald and it grew normally but started thinning again. Why? What can I do ?
I've actually never had edges for some reason. Even in all my pictures as a child, my hairline did not start right at my edges. My little daughter is the same way.
Love your videos content, always helpful. I have a problem and I am sure that I am not alone in this. I have gray/silver hair that’s discolored and had brassy tones. Because of your scientific approach to your hair channel I am hoping that you could do something for us who wish to keep and embrace our silver strands. Not all of us want to cover with dye. I find that the purple shampoos/conditioners/yellow out products works on relaxed Afro hair but not Afro naturals. Please help us to find a way to remove this messy brassy color from the grays/silvers🤦🏽♀️
That brass color you’re experiencing sounds like some pigment is still in you’re hair strands. For some people, hair strands don’t lose all its pigment right away. If you give it sometime some should become silver and some may even go back to black/brown. For now, if it bothering you, try henna and or indigo. You can also try installing braids with brass streaks. That’s a great way to embrace you’re unique look.
@@GreenBeauty thank you for responding. I am interested in keeping and embracing the silver. Just looking to brighten. I will look into the braids tho.🙏🏾
Exactly my hair😢, it was dark and thick and now it's thin and changed even in color. How I whish I had gone back to change everything I did for my hair to cause it to this change; too much heat and tight hair styles. Is there anything I can do now?
During pregnancy my edges were full. Postpartum, my hairline is thin..it's been 1yr and no recovery. How is it possible my edges are filled in only during pregnancy? Thanks in advance.
I watched the postpartum video. Great work! Think my results are worse due to breastfeeding. If you are familiar and have time could you do a video on how breastfeeding affects hair health? Any tips are appreciated. *Purchased your PH Stabilizing Spritz. Absolutely can't wait to receive it!
Can you make a video on how to turn vellus into terminal hair , I have so many veryyyyyy tiny short and super fine curly hairs when I finger detangle my hair they stick to my fingers and palms. I’m worried that relaxer from years ago somehow shrunk my follicles to the point where my hair has very fine hairs in between my terminal hairs.
I learned my lesson with perms….in 2019 somehow my mom convinced me to let her perm my edges a few months after giving birth to my son and my edges fell out so now my edges are just now starting to grow back a little thicker

That’s good that you are paying attention to them. They leave fast but, take their time to come back
Saaaaaame. It's why I stopped, educated myself, and started growing semi-freeforming locs. Great upload!

Wow..... I'm learning a lot now. Makes a lot of sense. Thank you for this free education.
How can I make a video request?
I just saw someone and they toldme my edges were thining.
Have you done a video on how to take care of your scalp in between wash days? If not can you make one?
does dandruff lead 2 edge damage....coz thats my problem...its not overly thin but compare 2 d rest...it is thin...plus i pick my hair when stress
Edges will always be thinner/sparser than the rest of your hair. But, dandruff and hair picking will definitely make it worse
Thanks for the answer.....

No one know how many hair follicles we have on our heads but God sweetie so stop says that please I love your channel it is very informative
Are you referring to when I said, we have thousands of hair follicles on our head?
Does the herbal hot oil treatment completely replace deep conditioning? Or do you do them both on wash day?
Sometimes I use just the Herbal Hot Oil Treatment and sometimes I mix it with a conditioner or DIY
