Does the Bleame hair eraser work? My HONEST review

  • If you've seen Instagram ads and viral TikTok posts recently about crystal hair removers, you're probably wondering if these crystal hair erasers actually work. Here is my HONEST review of the Bleame hair remover product and a look at the rash/burn I got from it.
    Disclaimer: All opinions in this post are my own and are based on my personal experience.

    I normally don't do reviews on beauty products, but I feel pretty strongly about this one so I'm doing a thorough review of the Bleame "crystal" hair eraser (which is actually etched glass and not crystal). We're including info on how the product worked on my skin (mainly my arms) and some criticisms of the Bleame business with some not-so-great things I found out about the Bleame company after I bought their product for myself and my daughter.
    I also tried this on dry skin on my lower legs and it did ok, I didn't seem to have irritation on my lower legs, but I tried this on my upper leg/thigh area on dry skin and had redness the next day, which turned into very rough skin the following 2 days.
    My biggest beef with the Bleame company isn't necessarily the inconsistent performance of the product, it's that they actively block negative reviews on their website, hiding negative comments on their Instagram and Facebook accounts so consumers can't see feedback from people who have used it with poor results or who have had bad experiences with their customer service.

    I can confirm ! I never see my negative reviews on any of their posts, even website ! That’s super dangerous and very sore loser on them. People need to be warned. I’m even doubting the positive comments at this point 🤣 I tested that product with every thing I could think of : dry, wet, cream, soap, mousse. I don’t have particularly sensitive skin and I was gentle. Same result everytime. It take a whole week to heal properly.

    Got mine yesterday and tried it on my legs. As I’m typing this, my legs are burning. Put lotion on to help and they stung pretty intensely. All of this with using it gently, as instructed. I’m so disappointed and I feel like I’ve been fooled. Wish I looked further into it before purchasing. Lesson learned. I should have known it was too good to be true. THANK YOU for posting this review, by the way! I hope more people see it before purchasing, especially with how misleading and dishonest the company is.

      I'm so sorry you're dealing with that, the pain is pretty intense the first day! A numbing burn cream might help take some of the edge off the pain, I didn't have any of that when my arms got a rash from the Bleame but I think it might have helped.

    I've struggled with shaving since I was a teenager, especially my thighs. When I saw this product and all the positive reviews, I got hopeful that I might have finally found my affordable miracle solution. But when I couldn't find any bad reviews - or even any with fewer than 5 stars - on their website, I thought it was really suspicious. I live by the axiom "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is." Since my skin tends to be sensitive, I have no doubt that I'd get a rash or worse with this product. Also I just don't want to support shady business practices. Thanks so much for enduring those rashes to get us this video!

    Thank you for posting this! I've been looking for a decent shaving alternative for a while and I was truly tempted by all the glowing reviews on Instagram, but also became skeptical when I didn't find any lukewarm or negative ones. If they were really so confident in their product they wouldn't feel the need to hide any and could let the good drown out the bad. A shame about the sketchy return policy too.
    Also my skin is pretty sensitive in general so thanks for saving me from any extra rashes and wasted money!

    Hello, I have such a device, I bought it from Lidl in Romania, but it says it is for exfoliating your heels!! Same shape, same "crystal" appearance (i think it's just glass). Anywhozzle, It is so coarse I would never try it on my legs/arms, let alone bikini area. I think they (Bleame) rebranded it and try to sell it as "hair eraser" but basically it is a heel exfoliating file (and a good one)! If you bought it and cannot return it, just use it for that, works wonders!

    Tonight was the first time I read about the Nano crystal technology in the Bleame depilator. I have tried those Aussie Nads years ago & it ripped off my skin instead of removing hair. I was wondering if this product would do something similar, but without the fragrance rashes common to products like Nair, etc. I'm glad to see a post from another person with sensitive skin that shows what the product actually does if you really work hard to remove the hair. Like you my arm hair is fine (other hair areas that have been shaved not so much)... I read a report about it not taking off the fine hair readily, but that it would if you kept working at it. Those reports had dermatologist opinions about the possibility of irritation, but I still had to see a video review. Unlike other products that the video reviews are at the top of the search engine. I had to go almost all the way to the bottom of the first page to find your video review. I'm glad I kept looking. Your one review was enough...I had to look at two or three for that Green Tea Mask Roll-on Stick stuff just for kicks...(Yeah, it's definitely falsely touted as well, but does work as a basic face mask, like the Freeman Masks, but without fragrance, according to reviewers...) I despise being lied to by false advertising...Thank you for your review!

    Thank you so much for this honest review! I almost just bought it because I've been seeing the ads for probably a year or so, and they almost had me convinced. Maybe it does work for some people, but it definitely seems to create burns and rashes on a lot of people. While that's sad and I'm sorry it burned you, I'm glad to know my "too-good-to-be-true" radar is working okay. Maybe I'll try it anyway and see if it works for me. I have really tough skin that constantly needs exfoliating so maybe it won't hurt me. I've even lightly rubbed my legs with my pumice stone and I don't get burns or rashes from that, so maybe Bleame will be okay. I'm not sure. If I try it, I'll let you know what happens.

  • @user-gg6wq8kn9n

    I’ve used mine 2x - it seems to work well on my lower legs. Anything more sensitive it burns. I really wanted it for my upper thighs - with shaving cream it didn’t burn, so if you already have one I’d recommend giving that a try.

    • @thefitcookie
      @thefitcookie  Рік тому +2

      I think the risk is too high for injury to tell people to just try it out and see what happens. I didn't get a reaction on my lower legs, but I did on my arms. I tried it on my arms dry, with shaving cream, and wet, and all ended in a rash. The shaving cream test and dry test on my arms didn't end up with quite as severe a rash as the wet skin test, but it was still a rash. I tried with dry on my inner thigh and ended up with a rash there, too.
      Even though it did fine on MY lower legs, it's not the same for everyone and the risk of injury is still very high. I've been seeing a bunch of people in our Facebook group with rashes on their lower legs from the Bleame, so I don't want to even tell people to patch test it. Plus some people have gotten staph infections so I don't think the risk of injury is remotely worth it with these types of products.

    I saw ads for these months ago and never believed them, but then they didn't stop so I was curious. Happy to see your review. My only criticism is that in the Instagram comments section there was a button saying "Load more comments" at the bottom and the comments weren't in reverse chronological order, so it might not actually prove comments are being hidden. The website reviews and live demonstration are convincing though. It seems like this product would be better for exfoliating than for hair removal.

    • @thefitcookie
      @thefitcookie  Рік тому +4

      The order of the comments on the Instagram post isn't really relevant since I did load all the comments that weren't hidden by Bleame (you can see in the video that I intentionally loaded every comment available on that post) and I scrolled top to bottom then bottom to top again and my comment wasn't there. The only reason the bottom of the screen keeps saying load more comments after I loaded everything is because there are lots of comments I can't see on their posts because Bleame is hiding them and there are more comments, but I can't actually load anymore than that because they're hidden. What I recorded in the video was actually the second or third time I had checked that post, I checked it several times before I actually took a recording. I also had done this with multiple Instagram posts, taking video of several, but for time's sake I only added one video here.
      I also ran a test on their Facebook posts and the same thing happened, I even asked others to check to see if they could see my comments and they were hidden. I also checked for other people's comments who private messaged me that they had commented and their comments were gone too.

      I'm glad I found this though, because all of the comments on the actual product are so positive, but when you look at similar products online that claim to work the same "miracles", its all angry people wanting their money back. So, do you go with the crazy amount of pleased people in the reviews of THIS specific product, and just assume it's somehow different than the rest? or do you go with the reviews of people who have tried similar products, and hated them? That's where you come in! Lol.
      Have you seen that green tea blackhead mask that's advertised all over, where the blackheads supposedly just come out all on there own? That's another one I wanted to try, but again, there are mixed reviews everywhere. It's so hard to know if you can trust the person leaving the comment.

They’ll keep putting out ads though so people need to be cautious. A friend of mine bought some shoes from a Facebook ad and was ripped off too, bad product and couldn’t get a refund. Seems like there are a lot of these kinds of companies popping up.

    I just got one of these for a Christmas gift and I finally tried it out today. It worked fine for me, but I agree with the other comments saying there is stinging afterwards. The stinging for me wasn’t bad and I was able to remove as much leg hair as I do with a razor, but you HAVE to make sure to use some kind of lotion or moisturizer afterwards, ESPECIALLY if you have sensitive skin like I do. I think the stinging for me would’ve been much more severe if I hadn’t used lotion, but I lathered up my legs well immediately after using the eraser and I was fine. Definitely found their business practices rather shady, though. I knew something had to be up when I saw no reviews with less than 5 stars on their socials or their site. The reason I got this thing is because standard razors make me nervous and I wanted to try something new that didn’t involve a blade or any sharpness. I’ll keep using the Bleame for now, but I’m definitely gonna keep using lotion right after. Maybe I’ll even try shaving cream next time. Whatever keeps the skin moisturized so the burning doesn’t get bad.

    I am so glad I found this as I was going to buy it soon! ugh!!! Does anybody have any other recommendations? I get such bad razor bumps on my bikini area, and I've read so many articles on how to shave right to avoid that but I still get them anyway. I'm allergic to just about everything under the sun including beeswax and honey so I am nervous to do waxing or chemical. I've tried an epilator once and it made my skin in the area I tested so red and painful, and I had red bumps that hurt for a week. I'm also way too poor for laser lol! How do I get rid of this damn hair!!!!!!! I just want to be silky smooth *cry* I hate having body hair, I find it uncomfortable and itchy and I hate the way it looks. I feel like a pretty swan when I shave....a pretty and bumpy swan.

      The only thing I can recommend is at-home IPL, I have a Silken device that seems to slow down hair growth but doesn't get rid of it completely for me. Of course you have to shave before using it, so just keep that in mind, but it might be something to think about. I've had mine for a couple years now and it's still working. They cost a bit, but it should last for a while.

I just figured that I would check out their Facebook today to see what everyone was saying and I thought it was weird that some of their posts had like 30+ comments with like 16 angry face emojis, but I couldn't see one comment on their post. I was like, "Huh. Well, that's strange. Even with privacy settings put in place, I should be able to see SOME of the comments out of the 30 something it says this post has. And why are there so many angry faced emojis?" It all makes sense now. Wish me luck on getting a refund if this thing doesn't work! Thank you for your honest feedback!

      I ran into that so many times with their social media channels! I hope you can get your refund, some people got their refunds easy and others didn't, there isn't really a rhyme or reason to it except I'm fairly sure that they are using new orders to fund refunds knowing that not everyone is going to try going through the effort for the Bleame refund/return process since they have made it complicated.

      I didn't end up sending the erasers back. Initially when I contacted them about a refund, they gave me their canned 50% refund response and send back the items but with very tedious instructions, so I put it off. When I wrote my blog post, they immediately refunded my money out of the blue with no mention of me returning the erasers. They have changed their return policy several times over the past few months, so now they have some nonsense about you can't return them if they are used (not sure how you can try it out then) and their canned responses are like 50% refund. Even though their product pages promise a 30-day money back guarantee. Some people have been successful getting full refunds if they tell Bleame they are filing reports with BBB, FTC, etc.

      The rash usually will go away after a few days to a week or 2, but keep an eye out for staph infection. Some of the people in our Facebook group ended up having to get medical attention due to staph infections. Not to scare you or anything but just keep an eye on your rash to make sure it doesn't start to get pussy, etc. A numbing burn cream might work ok on the rash, but I'd check the label to make sure it's ok to add to broken skin. I can't give medical advice, so if it doesn't get better or starts to seem odd, see a doc or call your local ask a nurse.

      These hair erasers are quite a bit different than pumice stones (if you're referring to real pumice stones) but can still damage skin. A true pumice stone is a lot more aggressive, but it's usually only advertised for calluses. The Bleame (and similar products) aren't as aggressively abrasive as a pumice stone, but they are advertised for use on all kinds of skin and sensitive parts of the body, like the bikini area. These hair erasers might actually work ok on foot calluses after using a coarse pumice stone.

    Honestly, you just never really got used to it... I "burned" myself a little the first time trying to figure out how it worked but I just kept doing it and haven't been "burned" since then - I think your skin almost needs to adjust to it since it is kind of an extreme thing I guess. It's essentially a ton of tiny razors - so if you took any razor and pressed down very hard on dry skin it wouldn't be pretty either. That said, it's a lot of work and a lot of getting used to HOWEVER - if you struggle with "Strawberry legs" and ingrown hairs - then this is the product for you! It is the only thing I ever found that helps with that... You shouldn't use on like armpits or bikini area which stinks. Also, I found the hair grows back slower and softer so that is nice since I am usually someone who has hard stubble hours after shaving. Lastly - I kind of like that you can easily leave some hair - I have wild arm hair and using this lets me kind of thin it out but not get rid of it completely which makes me look weird having big bald baby arms or stubble lol. Hoping this info helps someone! ☺

    • @thefitcookie
      @thefitcookie  Рік тому

      I don’t want to encourage anyone who gets burned to use it again, that can be dangerous. I’ve spoken with multiple people who have gotten serious staph infections from the skin damage this has caused them. If it burns, why use it again? That doesn’t make sense to keep using a product that causes problems.

    • @EstherOfToday
      @EstherOfToday Рік тому

      @@thefitcookie Well it burned because it was used wrong... if you use a razor wrong you will also burn. Same with a lot of hair remover creams / gels. Everything makes me burn! Also - you can't get staph infections from this product unless you actually come in contact with those germs - which could start with any cut or scratch, just like from razors. I get what you are saying but I think if we over analyze ANY company or product it can look bad. This item DOES have beneficial uses... besides everything I have said before it's a great exfoliator for knees, elbows and feet like for use with tanning lotions. I don't know - to each their own but I love mine.

      @@thefitcookie ...but are you warning them that if they use a razor the wrong way it could hurt them? I have not belittled anyones injuries - but if someone burns themself on the stove by touching it - while I can feel empathy for them - it doesn't mean the stove or stove company was bad. We can agree to disagree on this but I have used it way more I'm sure and don't think your videos gave it a fair review - and I am entitled to that opinion. I have no connection to you or Bleame in any way - I just wanted to share my own positive experience. ☺

    • @thefitcookie
      @thefitcookie  Рік тому

      @@EstherOfToday You have belittled people's injuries by saying it's their own fault they have been injured by not using it properly, you told me that. If the situation was reversed, would you like someone to tell you that your injuries from a product you purchased and used properly were your own fault?
      Trying to compare this to touching a hot stove is a false equivalence. A stove is not designed to be used on human skin. The bleame was advertised as a "painless" tool for the skin. It is not remotely even the same thing and trying to compare the 2 situations is not the same. One is using the tool in a way that it was not meant for or advertised for. The bleame is being used as directed and still causing injury.
      As for razors, those have been around for hundreds of years and people are taught how to use them properly and safely typically by family members and millions of people have used them. How many people have used a "crystal" hair eraser and can teach each other how to use it safely? They rely on the company for safety info. But again the company itself can't even tell people how to use it safely because they are constantly changing their safety recommendations. And their promo videos and ads show people using it fast and with lots of pressure. As I've said before, I don't have to tell people how to use razors properly because that's not the focus of my videos and lots of other people do that.
      Addressing your earlier point about people can't get staph from this, you can get staph anytime your skin is broken. Staph bacteria strains are a normal inhabitant of human skin and can cause infection anytime there is an open wound, especially if that open wound is a lot of tiny cuts, like what happens when people get friction burns from these glass erasers.
      And yes you absolutely are entitled to your own opinion that you think I did not give it a fair review, but I am also entitled to respond to your comments that I am being unfair, obsessive, and over analyzing. It goes both ways. You're making some odd accusations and I have a right to address them, too.

Definitely keep an eye on your skin, some people who got injured ended up with staph and had to get antibiotic cream, so if it looks bad and gets weepy and crusty and takes a while to heal, might not hurt to get it looked at by a doctor.
