Sharing just because I've seen a few conflicting comments from both the creator and commenters: For IPL to work, it needs to come in contact with the melanin in the hair roots, which means that if you wax or epilate while doing IPL treatments you won't really see results, because their are no roots for the device to target. For best results, you should only shave while using IPL. Cheers!
Actually if you do it right after waxing, it we’ll work because the 🩸 blood will act as the needed pigment. I got IPL after waxing. I also asked the manufacturer themselves before hand.
@@JJamiahactually it has to be done after shaving because the laser has to cling onto the root of the hair. Waxing removes at a deeper level. Shaving is definitely best.

Yes, this was very helpful! Even though it wasn't to your liking, your results are what I'm going for. I have multiple hairs in single follicles, so that creates major irritation, ingrown hairs, and infections when I'm removing hair. My hair is so thick, so I can see the hairs again half a day after shaving. I can't do laser because it's out of my budget. I'm ok with not getting the results of laser for the price of IPL!
That actually helped me a lot! I want to buy an ipl but I was afraid once I stop using it I would lose the results but that seems pretty fair how you described it

Thank you for the video and your honest opinion about the product. I'm using another device called smoothskin pure that is quite similar to braun, I did 4 sessions and I start see results everywhere in my body. @@roon66568 the result is good but there still some hair especially in the armpits and the bekini area. I did it once a week for 5 months because 3 months wasn't enough for me. To make it more clear, I have pale skin and my hair is light brown
Very useful thanks! Hearing you talk about it I was a bit discouraged because it sounded like it is not permanent and you are still having to treat or shave. It’s curious to me that they recommend using it every week or two. When I had this done professionally, they recommended appointments about every 8-10 weeks. Idea was that at regular intervals you’d catch hair follicles at the cell division point that was most effective to eliminate. It worked very well, albeit over the course of a year. And after 15 or so years I’m still very satisfied with the results. Of course weekly may catch hair cells at the correct point to eliminate them, but perhaps in the long run it may not be necessary for the longevity of the device or overall effectiveness. Weekly or two might also be a bit much for sensitive skin types, as burning hair follicles from the inside can be rough for a few days.
Well in beauty salon they are using laser ant it is much more powerful than Ipl light, that is why with this device you need to do the treatments more often ☺️
Pro lasers are stronger and use one specific wavelength of light. IPL uses a broader spectrum of light and is safe for use as frequently as once a week.
Go and pay in a high end place. Dont buy machine that are made for home use (low power machine/regulation for home use ipl). Or use machine but you look like cancer patient

TY for an honest opinion. Part of me when I do so myself feel its better to wait a few extra days...idk why that is though.
Before I started IPL, I had this same dilemma. I would usually shave every 3 days. My hair didn't grow exactly "fast," but if I went beyond three days without shaving, it would start feeling stubbly. If I went a week without shaving, it was definitely stubbly. 3 days between shaves was ideal for me. The important thing is just to use a good quality razor and lots of shaving creme/gel, because you get a much smoother shave that lasts longer that way.
Let me start off by saying this was an awesome video :) and i was also wondering how many ‘clicks’ you have left? Like do you think you are going to have to buy a new device soon? or do you think you have enough to finish off the rest of the follicles?
Thank you! The braun device doesn’t show the flash number so I wouldn’t know 🤔 About the lamp life...they say that it should last you for around 15 years, if you use it in moderate amount of times, so since I used it quite frequently at the first year I probably have less flashes left than I supposed to, but still there should be enough for many years ☺️
Great insight, really helpful! For its price, you explained everything we could ask for. I thought it's a permanent thing... Really good to know. Thanks so much
Hi, you have to shave if there is any hair growing, I think it is mostly because when you do the treatment on unshaved area you will get that burning hair smell and also the hair will look darker and weird because it has been burned, so shaving before the treatment would just be more convenient ☺️
Around 0:37 you said something about the flashes being finished what does that actually mean? Can you please explain I'm really new to this hair removal device thingy. I don't wanna buy something that won't even work for a few years. Btw nice video.

Light skin and dark hair is the perfect combination for IPL to work, and results is very personal, different people can see results in very different time frames 😊
It also depends on the hair color and thickness. The video is helpful i am debating on getting one because i hate shaving as much as i do like every other day or so. I would like to shave less or not at all.
Since day one I tried to use it on the strongest level, but some days I was a bit sensitive to the pain so I reduced it to level 2, but yeah most of the time I used it on the highest level ☺️
Even when someone gets professional laser hair removal at a dermatology clinic, after ceasing treatment the hair matrix will gradually heal and the hair will grow back thicker and faster anywhere from a few months to a few years. It is not the fault of Braun or the laser operators. It is just because of our bodies trying to 'heal'.
This is false, Hair does not grow back darker and thicker just because you get rid off it, its a tall tale that kindergarterners tell. Ask any man who have been shaving daily for a lifetime 😅
@@sageen well I don’t know about that, as a preteen I had fine thin hair but after continuously shaving it grew back thicker and darker. I even had a slight mustache and shaved only one side of it, that side is slightly darker. And my belly button I would shave it and now I have one really thick hair there that’s very black too. There may be some truth to it
Is that actually true? The whole point of laser removal is that it’s so expensive that it shouldn’t grow back ever. If it does it’s such a waste of money.
But it supposed to last around 15-20 years, let's say 10 if you use it double than what they say. By the time your IPL dies there will be new ones with better technology and more effective, so why to make it last so much when you'll probably want to buy the new models in the future tho
this is pro corporation consumerism mindset. always try to make things last. unless there is significant reduction of cost for IPL/laser or electrolysis becomes available, continue using and maintaning your IPL device.
My IPL devices all say do it once a week for 12 weeks, then once a month for upkeep. After I completed my first IPL run, i had about 50% of my hair left and it was much softer. I'm doing it again, I'm 4 weeks into my second go and I've noticed the patches without hair are much more noticable.
My hairs never come back, maybe some but if that’s the case I can’t really tell it is so les of them. I used device from different brand but I really don’t think it makes a difference.
Home Skinovations Silk'n - very old model Smoothskin Gold Ipl - but the sensor got broken 😡 Smoothskin Bare Plus - I don’t have to do anything with the legs and bikini area, but still fighting with my armpits. Good luck!
Why doesn't it say in the manual of the devide that the amount of flashes is not unlimited and one would need to buy another device if one runs out of flashes??
I think it specifies there the amount of flashes, but in general it’s like a light bulb, it has a lifespan 😊 I recon it says it will last you about 20 years, but since at the beginning I used it Wayyy more that the manual suggests, I assume I cut that time a bit 😄 but don’t worry it will still last you for a long time 😉
Has anyone used this on their stomach region. If so, has it worked out for you? I shave my happy trail & stomach region alot that I’m embarrassed. I’m hoping this will help remove the hair long term 🙏🏼
It can remove any body hair, but there is also no guarantee, because even though I used it on my whole body, it saw better results on my legs and not so well on other parts ☺️
@@mattiexo no what I meant is, can we use ipl even if we have menstruation. Is it advisable to use it, because when waxing its not advisable to use wax when you have menstruation because it'll darken the skin
When I shave I can still see the hair where it has been shaven, were you like that when you started? I’m fair with very dark hair. I also have irregular hair patterns (under the jaw hair) apparently I have PCOS but don’t have cysts but have the physical symptoms…. According to the doctors.
As I remember I think before I had something like strawberry legs so I could see dots on my legs after shaving, but now my skin is smooth and it’s probably because of the IPL device 🤔
@@calypso1733 I’m still testing it out. It did slow down but still grew as of right now. Thinner and the follicles seem to get blocked less (ingrown and darkness).
My arms and legs hairs are very thick and long and i just wanted to make them thin not remove permanently bcz i’m a boy. Is it possible to make hair thin from an IPL device? If yes then how much sessions should i do for hair thinning?
Hey, thanks for the question 🙂 well if you would only like to make the hair thin, this device is not an option for you because it will make the hair grow in balder patches, and I don’t think you would like that
Waxing. While you would have periods of complete hair removal, it will grow back thinner and thinner over time, due to stressing the hair follicle. The hair will feel softer, and less course.
Some hair will be removed permanently, I noticed that the hair coming back patchy, but a lot of the hair would only be “asleep” and if you do the treatments according to your needs they will keep being that way - they will grow but very slowly 😊
It should last you for approximately 10-15 years according to basic calculations, but if you use it more often than recommended, then it might break sooner :)
Hi, do you have to wax before using it the first time or is shaving enough? Also when you use it again (after a week) do you have to shave all again then use the product? Thank you!!!
Hello, I used to shave before the treatment, but now I started epilating, but its too soon to tell if this way is better :) and yes, after a week you have to shave before the treatment because you will see that your hair is coming back, it will take a while until you will see at least some results :)
If you use an epilator I believe the laser device will not work because you are pulling the root out. I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to wax or pluck while doing treatments
@@jennageer5507 that’s correct- the IPL has to see the root of the hair to target it- that’s why these work best on fair people with dark hair- don’t wax or epilate first or you’re basically blinding your device!
Don’t epilate, wax, tweeze or do anything that will pull the root of the hair out. The ONLY way IPL or lasers work is if the root of the hair is present. They work by targeting the pigment in the root of the hair.
My IPL is brand new. Im trying to do a 2x treatment when suddenly it stopped working. The cooling fan makes noise but the power botton wont turn on. Nothing comes on the screen, no numbers, no OFF message. Does this mean its broken?.
Are you using Braun Ipl? Because braun Ipl doesn’t have a screen. But if the ipl you are using is not working properly you will need to contact the customer service and get a replacement or a refund 🤔
I don’t really understand your question ☺️ could you tell me a little bit more? What do you mean by getting used to the variable speed of flashes? My IPL device has 3 strength levels, on level 3 flashes comes out slower, on level 1 and 2 flashes come out faster. Is that what you was asking?
It‘s not true that it doesn‘t hurt. Me and my 2 friends had try it and we all agreed that it hurts so much, expecially underpit and 🐱! It‘s more than uncomfortable!
It should reduce the density of facial hair, but I wouldn’t expect the hair to completely go away, because usually it’s the hormone imbalance that causes facial hair 🤔
@khan khan SO IT WORKS? im so skeptical about it cuz im literally a broke student in debt- im literally so hairy its disgusting :( i rly want the hairs to at least get reduced if not gone
From what I've seen, Philips hasn't released a new model in years and years. Braun continues to offer new models constantly, and their older ones cost less money. I think this makes the most difference in the skin and hair tones the device works on, and how quickly the device recharges.
It has 450,000 flashes, which, according to Braun, is equal to "20 years of salon-quality hair removal." I don't think you have to worry about "saving" flashes. Lol.
Yes and no 😀 because until I saw the results I used it every week for 9 months instead of “every month or according my needs” like they recommend in the manual 🙈 but yes probably I still shouldn’t save it so much 😃
@@Skincare-cabinet Ok, then, maybe you'll get just 10 years out of it instead.😆 I know that I would probably not use it all that time anyway because a better model or better technology usually comes out within a few years.

thank you so much for your honest and detailed review. this helped me soooo much and you are sooo cute and sweet 💕💕 thank you!
Happy to help ☺️
Do you have to shave every time you use it? For the first few weeks that would be so much shaving
Yes, your skin needs to be without any hair before the treatment
Did you increase the power over the year you were using the device?
Since day one I tried to use it on the strongest level, but some days I was a bit sensitive to the pain so I reduced it to level 2, but yeah most of the time I used it on the highest level ☺️
Thank you ❤️
Even when someone gets professional laser hair removal at a dermatology clinic, after ceasing treatment the hair matrix will gradually heal and the hair will grow back thicker and faster anywhere from a few months to a few years. It is not the fault of Braun or the laser operators. It is just because of our bodies trying to 'heal'.
That’s interesting 🤔 I have never done a professional laser hair removal so I wouldn’t know 🤓 thanks for the info 🙏🏻
That's true!
I recommend laser hair removal it's pricey but I love the no waxing
Maybe I will try professional laser treatment one day 🙌🏻
For how many minutes you use it in every section?
For full legs I would say 12-15minutes, this part takes the longest ☺️
@@Skincare-cabinet thank you.
Just curious how do you clean your ipl? I know they say to clean it with a dry cloth but do you clean the yellow inside thing? 😅
I clean the inside, but not the actual lamp at the bottom ☺️
@@Skincare-cabinet thank you for the fast reply! 🥺
How well does it do on the face
My IPL devices all say do it once a week for 12 weeks, then once a month for upkeep.
After I completed my first IPL run, i had about 50% of my hair left and it was much softer.
I'm doing it again, I'm 4 weeks into my second go and I've noticed the patches without hair are much more noticable.
Keep it up! 👍🏻
My hairs never come back, maybe some but if that’s the case I can’t really tell it is so les of them. I used device from different brand but I really don’t think it makes a difference.
Which brand I use mlay
Silkn and two from smooth skin
@@girl81ful please tell me the brand and the serie??
Home Skinovations Silk'n - very old model
Smoothskin Gold Ipl - but the sensor got broken 😡
Smoothskin Bare Plus - I don’t have to do anything with the legs and bikini area, but still fighting with my armpits. Good luck!
Go on ... by the way, you are really beautiful and sweet
Thank you so much! ☺️
if the hairs are soft like peach fuzz but they are light brown, will I see results?
In the manual it says that it’s not gonna work on light and ginger hair, so I assume it should work with light brown hair 🤔
It works on pigmented hair
@Laure Innocenti you're right, nobody gives a damn
@@beatrices2119 hahhaa
Why doesn't it say in the manual of the devide that the amount of flashes is not unlimited and one would need to buy another device if one runs out of flashes??
I think it specifies there the amount of flashes, but in general it’s like a light bulb, it has a lifespan 😊 I recon it says it will last you about 20 years, but since at the beginning I used it Wayyy more that the manual suggests, I assume I cut that time a bit 😄 but don’t worry it will still last you for a long time 😉
Does it have two attachments one for face one for legs?
Hi, this one only has one head, but it is possible to do everything with one head
@@Skincare-cabinet
What about germs ? Will it cause acne on face if you use it on legs armpit?
You can remove and clean the head with microfiber cloth 😊
Can we use on face or not? Watching video from nepal 🇳🇵🇳🇵
Yes you can use it on your face also 😊
Can i remove my beard with this ipl (Mam) 🙂??
Thank you
i loved your experience
Thank you 😊
Has anyone used this on their stomach region.
Do you use it when even when you have menstruation? If not then you'll skip 1 week or 2 weeks for that?
Hey! No I don’t skip it ☺️
@@Skincare-cabinet you still use it even when u have menstruation?
@@andrewchua6617 so? Shes using it on her legs and arms? They arent bleeding?
@@andrewchua6617 just have a tampon in if you’re old enough for that or use it otherwise skip or clean before using.
@@mattiexo no what I meant is, can we use ipl even if we have menstruation. Is it advisable to use it, because when waxing its not advisable to use wax when you have menstruation because it'll darken the skin
love it!
When I shave I can still see the hair where it has been shaven, were you like that when you started? I’m fair with very dark hair. I also have irregular hair patterns (under the jaw hair) apparently I have PCOS but don’t have cysts but have the physical symptoms…. According to the doctors.
Just asking because the pictures you showed of your shaved leg I can’t see the hair that’s shaven or do I just have very deeply rooted hairs.
As I remember I think before I had something like strawberry legs so I could see dots on my legs after shaving, but now my skin is smooth and it’s probably because of the IPL device 🤔
Hello, did you end up trying the device? I have all of the things you mentioned, so just curious if it worked
@@calypso1733 I’m still testing it out. It did slow down but still grew as of right now. Thinner and the follicles seem to get blocked less (ingrown and darkness).
@@mattiexo how long did it take for the hair growth to still down?
What do you mean you have to save the flashes??
This lamp has (if I remember correctly) 250,000 flashes, after that the lamp usually dies. But still it should last you for about 10 years ☺️
can i use it on my face? my cheeks particularly
Yes you can, just make sure it’s not close to your eyes ☺️
Is it possible to get permanent results with this machine?
Some hair will be removed permanently, I noticed that the hair coming back patchy, but a lot of the hair would only be “asleep” and if you do the treatments according to your needs they will keep being that way - they will grow but very slowly 😊
Can Men use this device and expect decent results?? face, neck & BALLS......
Is this safe for ingrown hair?
Plz reply as clinical treatment is very expensive and I am just a student and I get a lot of ingrown hair 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hi, I had some ingrown hair while I was doing treatments, now I only have very few, I am not sure if it’s safe to do if you have a lot of ingrowns 🤔
@@Skincare-cabinet Thank you for replying 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️
Is it safe if I tweeze a big percentage of my ingrown hair and then try this?
Shieee that's exactly I want for my back / neck. Just less hair
Is it effective on strawberry skin ?!
Yes, for me it really helped to reduce all the bumps ☺️
Do you have to shave everytime before applying IPL at home
You can shave but you can also epilate, you can watch my video about : “wax, shave or epilate before ipl” ☺️
@@Skincare-cabinet oh I read somewhere you shouldn’t pull the hairs out because it needs the hair follicle to be intact. I’m not sure though.
@@daniellesevolution Yeah, waxing it or epilate will remove the roots when IPL targeting those so shaving is a must :)
Did you use it on brazilian area? I read that it should only be used on the bikini lines and not inside is it true?
It does say that in the manual, if you still decide to use it on bikini lines, it’s on your own risk 👆🏻
Do the flashes run out? Does that mean the device is only good for a certain amount of use/time?
It should last you for approximately 10-15 years according to basic calculations, but if you use it more often than recommended, then it might break sooner :)
can it be used on the face?
Yes, on your lower face 👍🏻
@@jennageer5507 pretty sure that you are right
@@jennageer5507 that’s correct- the IPL has to see the root of the hair to target it- that’s why these work best on fair people with dark hair- don’t wax or epilate first or you’re basically blinding your device!
Hey,
does using ipl laser device makes ur skin darker ?
No, your skin will be the same ☺️
I have noticed white spots/loss of pigment so I stopped using on my legs.
I always had the question if you’re able to use it every week on two body parts
For example on your legs and arms ?
You can use it every week on your whole body (just don’t use it above your cheekbones to protect your eyes)
@@Skincare-cabinet thank you soo so much have a nice day 💗
Everyone mention this as a main problem and I do not get it - Getting used to the variable speed flashes - do you mind explaining?
I don’t really understand your question ☺️ could you tell me a little bit more? What do you mean by getting used to the variable speed of flashes? My IPL device has 3 strength levels, on level 3 flashes comes out slower, on level 1 and 2 flashes come out faster. Is that what you was asking?
@@Skincare-cabinet apparently people consider that a flaw, these variable speed flashes, that sensor from 1-10. ☺️
How many flashes are there in the braun ipl
There is 400,000 flashes ☺️
But why are you not following the instructions? You’re supposed to use it for 12 weeks straight, once week. Then use it once a month afterwards.
I didn’t see much results in the first 12 weeks, that’s why ☺️
@@Skincare-cabinet because you’re not following the instructions lol….
She said every two weeks for the first 5 months but in the pop-up caption she corrected what she said to every week
What level do you use it on 1 through to 5?
There is 3 levels max, so I use it on maximum 👍🏻
Can you use numbing cream with ipl laser hair removal?
I think you can, but for me it’s not that painful that I would need to use a numbing cream ☺️
It‘s not true that it doesn‘t hurt. Me and my 2 friends had try it and we all agreed that it hurts so much, expecially underpit and 🐱! It‘s more than uncomfortable!
Yes, I can definitely feel the "Rubber band zap effect", but for me it is just uncomfortable feeling. The thinner is skin, the more painful it is :)
How many times for the week is safe to use the device?
it is recommended to use it only once a week
Can we pluck the hair which r grown after we stopp using ipl for months?
You can pluck it ☺️ but if you decide to use ipl again, wait for couple of days before treatment
What is price plese tell me
Hey! There is a link to this device in the description box ☺️
Why you run out of flashes you can just replace the lamp!! :)
Hmm, as far as I know changing the lamp for this device is very expensive, almost as expensive as buying new device 🤔
Which intensity level did you use?
I always use the highest intensity level ☺️
How many flash is acceptable for 1 session?
oh sorry can't tell you that, because it depends what body parts are you treating...and this device doesn't show the flash number
Do you think it would work on facial hair? Or at least reduce it? I don’t wanna use this and make my hirsutism worse 🥲
@khan khan shukriyaaaaaaaa. ill trust your review. im really thinking of investing in one. i hope it lessens my hair 😭
@khan khan ouuuuu. thank you for telling me. aap kitne flash recommend karte ho
@khan khan are you still using it, how's ur expr
Does anyone recommend Braun better than the Philips Lumea one?
From what I've seen, Philips hasn't released a new model in years and years. Braun continues to offer new models constantly, and their older ones cost less money. I think this makes the most difference in the skin and hair tones the device works on, and how quickly the device recharges.
How much is the IPL machine?
When I bought it it was around 280£ 👍🏻
How to order to India
Do you have amazon? I left a link in description box ☺️
Run out of flashes?
The lamp dies after certain amount of flashes ☺️
How many flashes have you used for the 10months?
I wish I knew but braun device doesn’t show you flash number 😕
