This was my absolute favorite scene from the movie. Still takes my breath away. Overwhelming both as a great human drama and a genuine religious experience for these characters. You want to follow the prophet into battle but know he's playing you like any cult leader. Villevenue balances this all so well. Plus Hans's score and the cast's masterful acting just propel this to something else.
EXACTLY the conflict I feel about Paul is just what you said - I WANT to follow him into battle despite being a fierce individualist myself, yet I know that he is essentially a larger than life, glorified cult leader. It’s genius writing tbh with other similar characters such as Anakin Skywalker it’s a lot more black and white, whereas Dune is almost all grey area which makes it much more human and realistic
"Giving water to the dead" means crying for them, something the Fremen never do because it's a waste of water. Paul said the guy cries for the departed in his dreams and it makes him feel good, something he can't do in real life because they can't even afford to waste that moisture.
I like how he’s soft spoken in English but in chakobsa his voice booms, it fills the room, and captivates you
IMPOINTINGTHEWAY was not soft 😭

The progression of Paul atreides in this scene is crazy

“I’M POINTING THE WAY!”
“I’m pointing the way” Paul said calmly.
He could’ve used his Bene voice at any point but understood his assignment. Greatest anti-hero ever.
The look Jessica gives at the end is chilling.
Her: “Slow down”
Him: Incites galactic Jihod
The Stilgar actor really plays that part perfectly
FATHER, THE SLEEPER HAS AWAKENED!
Willy Wonka conquering the Oompa Loompas
"YOU THINK IM STUPID ENOUGH TO PUT SCARCE WATER INTO AN ENDLESS WATER SUPPLY!? IM POINTING THE WAY!"
Love how he's basically yelling "YOU FEED THE DEAD PEOPLE WATER LATE AT NIGHT AND IT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD" and the one guy is like "He really him fr" 😅

Such an intense scene, his Chakobsa is powerful af.
Next time my nephew insults me, I am yelling "I am pointing the way".
take my life usul
I'M POINTING THE WAY!!!
Same vibe from Alice: “I make the path”
Love how Channi hates the religious shit until Paul shits all over the ceremony XD
Lisan Al-gaib!
This scene is the apex of the 2 movies
