Cuba’s electrical system collapsed Friday, as mounting problems with a lack of oil and dilapidated infrastructure reached a crisis point, paralyzing the economy of the Communist nation.
The Energy and Mining ministry announced the “total disconnection” of the national electricity system at 11:07 a.m., after the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric power plant in the city of Matanzas suddenly shut down. Authorities said they were scrambling to get the facility back online, but it was unclear when that might occur.
Thursday night, Cuban authorities had already taken drastic steps to curb energy use, announcing the shutdown of schools, many government offices and entertainment sites like discos. Authorities ordered nonessential businesses to halt production.

In Burkina Faso president Traore used their available funds to buy four hundred tractors to develop agriculture. In Cuba the "cupula" use the available funds to buy Mercedes Benz and BMWs for a few. They pilfer the money in useless guerrilla wars and propaganda. They travel in luxury and shop in expensive boutiques. They buy real estate in other countries and open personal accounts in international banks. Cuba would be today in a different position if Castro would have done as Traore and buy tractors. Now, as Burkina Faso celebrates a plentiful harvest Cuba lies in the dark.

Cuba is impoverished by government and corruption. This is really sad for them but no, Russia should not go to Cuba because corruption will only increase. I believe that it is the US that should help overthrow the Cuban government and then resume commercial and diplomatic exchanges with Cuba.
Umm, aren't they heavily "sanctioned" by the U.S., hence they cannot openly trade for goods & services like we can? Did you not consider that?

If Cuba, Russia, China or North Korea suits you as they currently are and are your benchmarks... it's hard for me to imagine your life.
Cuba is already so dependent on the US and Canada $$$. So why not improve relations which in my opinion will be much better than with these countries of dictatorship which will only reinforce provocations, tensions and poverty.
