Honestly, the flood in Halo 2 is sort of scary in the fact that you know you will run out of ammo and have to scavenge for weapons for the rest of the misson

Not really a plague but I always thought the Ghouls from Fallout was pretty terrifying, if you didn’t find shelter when the bombs dropped you either became a feral ghoul or you lived with an immortal curse as a skinless human for the rest of eternity or until you yourself became feral

Glad you said single player with immersive stories is important. Lots of games these days are online multiplayer with a very short boring single play story and as someone who grew up playing coop on split screen and single player games. Online is getting annoying. I play with my spouse sharing turns and it's not often we can play together. Don't starve is one game we can play together on split screen. TVs are wayyyy bigger now, split screen isn't that bad anymore.

Ooh I remember that game, it was basically a zombie game but with even less logic and with zero fucks given. I bet the producers lived on a strict marijuana and caffeine only diet while making that game
that game was fun af, goofy gameplay and narratives fun weapons unique movement system. like you had to jump in a leech pool to gather leeches in which point on your way back you start tripping, everything turns to lava and there’s skeletons and a talking company logo balloon taunts you the whole way. Also the cadets or whatever’s captain who doesn’t have legs so you carry him like a backpack

I never got the following Xbox consoles so I never knew they defeated the Flood with a modified Flood-virus. All I could think when I heard that was "So you're telling me that humanity, who are inferior even to the Covenant in technology were able to create a virus the FORERUNNERS, beings who literally controlled the galaxy and built insane mega-structures everywhere couldn't? Precursors from Subnautica have been actually named The Almanac by Alterra
Subnautica is more likely the kara virus from Natural Selection 2. They share the same name except one less h. Also you can literally gain a ticket to the Aurora by playing NS2 as a steam item.

MICROTRANSACTIONS Has been around for years. DLC/Expansions has been around for years,Old School Moba games and more had Expansions you had to pay for on PC😂. Shits been happening for years and its a problem now

@@boiz9552 Old school expansions were a good thing. They'd come out 6-8 months or even a year after the game was proven successful & actually add a ton of gameplay. The only modern example I can think of are the expansions for The Witcher 3, hours of extra story, new environments & dialogue etc. DLC's are like the delinquent step child of expansions lol

Before the viral outbreak in WoW, it happened in EverQuest. A viral DoT came out of an expansion's highest raid, and it ravaged its way across Norrath for a while before the devs patched it out.
I think ''the Plague'' from the Warcraft series should be mentioned as it is different in the sense that it's magic and there is a large group worshipping the monsters it creates and spreading the plague, while stitching these monsters, or undead, into even larger creepier abominations.

The infestation from Warframe is an interesting plague. It spreads to everything including electronics, even taking over AI.
I think it wasn't on the list because they don't want us talking about trying to clap Clem's cheeks.

That is true. Though the flood in a sense can do the same in a sense if the technology is controlled by a sentient AI program (like Cortana in the halo series) and as well as Mendicant Bias (from the original Halo Flood lore) by twisting and convincing the AI programming to side with it in a way thus infecting it with the logic plague, how ever it is only really able to be done via a grave mind or Key mind with the flood due to the sentience it would have as well as the knowledge. And a protogravemind wouldnt really be capable to do so due to it still developing it's own sentience.
@bean boy that plague he got fairly right, it is an actual plague but it is similar to the black plague by utilizing rats primarily, and with how it spreads originally in the game. Though I am not sure if it uses the exact same way or if it is something else that lets it spread. As for the plague rats they are a more aggressive species of rats especially when they get into swarms. I still have yet to fully look into the lore and how it spreads when it comes to the infected individuals itself. Personally it might be something that is a high risk in spreading on contact but I will be sure to look at the wiki and check to see if it is true or if there is something else that causes it to spread as well.
Well, but some warframes use the infestation on their blades and guns at their advantage, you know..
In dying light, you have Volatiles, which are the “evolved” zombies that come out at night, a mutated version of the basic zombies in the game. When they come out at night, the atmosphere is pretty scary. Not only are volatiles scary, there flipping huge! Did I mention that they also have nightmare? Which are mutated versions of the mutated zombies? 😂 (I loved this game and can’t wait for Dying light 2)

At the height of their power, the Flood can use neural physics to essentially infect space-time itself. Imagine being infected not because you breathed in a spore, got bitten, or attacked by an infection form, but because you simply perceived something pertaining to the flood.

The Flood should have been number one here. It was a galactic scale parasite that was present in multiple galaxies had more intelligence than any species and had the power to take over machines and manipulate beings and ai. It took a full purge of the galaxy to halt The Flood and even then it didn't stop it completely.

Just a detail to know: the flood was actually not defeated by bio-engineering 1/3 of humanity.
This actually had no effect on the flood but, they wanted to defer attention from how to combat the flood correctly.

The X-Files used the plot idea of a Cordyceps-like fungus infecting humans years before 'The Last of Us' video game came out, in Season 2 Episode 9 'Firewalker' first aired in 1994.

I think most of us anticipated the Cordyceps as number 1, just with all the stages and how it turned the world into a full on apocalypse, it's 1 of the scariest with the added fact that it already technically exists
The Cordyceps Virus form TLOU is really creepy, especially in the the later stages in Bloaters, clickers, stalkers, etc.

Yeah, I don't recall ever hearing about no Anti-Flood.
In addition there was no "flood counter" of the flood. It was originally "wiped out" by the activation of the halo array by the forerunners. How ever the flood itself survived via the research stations made by the forerunners that had contained specimens in hopes that the races later on could hopefully use their research and technology to develope the said cure

@@teevee3536 you can but it is nearly impossible as if a flood outbreak occurs and flood spores are present on the planet, the entire atmosphere basically has to be incinerated similar to surface glassing to the point of no biological matter is capable of living. As well as any form of infection forms, combat forms, and infected biomass requiring immediate removal and incineration to prevent any infection in any way. As well as keeping in mind that combat forms if needed can cause infection as well as in infection forms.

You can avoid publishers, you can't avoid games with micro transactions. If people avoided them entirely we'd go back to unlockables that you earn... which are free & how it used to be done. That's just not going to happen as people now expect them, ask for them & worst of all defend them 0_o

It's not underrated. It was never anything great. It had lots of potential but they just didn't do that good a job with it.

I can't help but point out the irony of "pure" and "hybrid" chimera given that a in traditional folklore chimera are creatures that embody traits of 2 or more animals, typically a head and body lion, eagle wings and a snake for a tail.

A Plague Tail was an absolute amazing game. I loved it so much. I 100% recommend it
