- Cycling Alpe d'Huez climb on the Tour de France 2022 stage 12 day was an extraordinary experience. If you are a cycling fan you need to do this once in a lifetime. 21 bends to reach the Alpe d'Huez ski resort where the Tour de France stage ends.
It is an amazing atmosphere and you get to experience the cheering that all the pro riders will get when they pass by, especially when passing the 7'th bend, the famous Dutch Corner.
You can use this video for your indoor cycling sessions as a cycling motivation. Just watch it as it is or put some of your favourite music and start pedaling.
The biggest cycling party starts the day before the Tour arrives on this legendary climb. People from all over the world gather in Bourg d'Oisans, the village where the climb begins. All of them will be on the side of the road the next day. Dutch Corner in Alpe d'Huez is probably the hottest place to be on a Tour de France stage.
Some use their bikes to reach the top, others are walking. All these cycling fans are here for their idols: Jonas Vingegaard, Tadej Pogacar, Primoz Roglic, Wout van Aert, Chris Froome, Tom Pidcock... all these pro cyclists will pass by and will be cheered by thousands of cycling supporters.
Alpe d'Huez is 14km long, has more than 1000 meters of positive elevation and an average gradient of 8%. The highest point is at 1840m above sea level in Alpe d'Huez ski resort. It is the most known Tour de France climb, a Mecca for cyclists, famous for the 21 hairpins. Each one of them has a sign with former winners like Marco Pantani, Fausto Coppi, Thibaut Pinot, Geraint Thomas and so on.
It is not the steepest climb, or the longest, or the most difficult. But it is the place where some of the biggest cycling legends were made. It is the mountain where Marco Pantani has the climbing record, the place where he defeated Jan Ulrich to win the yellow Tour de France jersey. On that specific day (14'th of July 2022) I wore his team jersey for the occasion, just to pay a tribute to my favorite cyclist of all time.
I've also made another video focusing mainly on the pro riders that we saw on Alpe d'Huez. There is also some unique footage taken the next day at the Jumbo Visma truck where we saw verry close Primoz Roglic, Wout van Aert, Jonas Vingegaard, Sepp Kuss and all the other members of the team.

Love it,epic uploading! take care!)
thank you....it was a great day
Hey, fantastic video!
I am looking at getting a camper ready for 2024. It would be my first Tour.
How early would you recommend getting to D"Huez before race day to get set up in a good spot?
Thanks in advance,
Dazzapaz
Hey... if you are planning to place the camper on the side of the road for a mountain stage finish climb I would advise you to go at least 2 days before the stage passes so to find a good spot. For Alpe d'Huez I believe that it's even earlier as it is verry popular. If you just go with your bike (and camper left somewhere in the valley) then you can climb it few hours before the Caravan and riders pass.
ok brilliant thanks mate.
I have scouted facebook and google to find some tips and tricks for this kind of thing but cant find anything on there.
Really appreciate it and keep up the good work on the videos! @@MySTREETvideos

Hello, don't know if they have a name for each one except the Dutch Corner...but there is a Alpe d'Huez winner name associated with each corner: www.podiumcafe.com/2013/7/17/4525816/alpe-dhuez-hairpin-history-trivia
