So a QA Automation Engineer is same as a software engineer almost right?

It's close but quite different. One creates apps, and another one creates automated tests for it. Although if QA Automation has strong experience in some cases it might do the job of the software Engineer/Develop and then it would be called SDET. Software Developer in Test
