Thanks mates. I’ve two of these to replace on gutter down pipes and I wasn’t sure about how to connect the pvc pipe to the old clay pipe. Sorted now.👍🏻😎
Love this video - properly informative. The side of paving that always gets overlooked on UA-cam. Be great to see one on connecting the ACO drains. Love your stuff!
Nice job, always amazes me how many of those clay pipes and gully;s we have come across that are cracked and leaking. When you put us on that "Hyperspace" thing it was a bit unsettling, I ended up on a Klingon starship, but luckily Scotty beamed me back up :)
Nobody teaches their trade anymore. Everyone goes to uni to work in the painting factory and there's no trades around. Thank you for doing this for us.
Hi Justin What a pain in the arse , for just a little job , and that’s why we panic and try to be careful as we can around drains , it’s all at our costs as well mate and fittings are so dear now mate , you can’t beat a bit of lube mate 🤪🤪🤪👍great video “Santa “ lol , quality again from you boys , loving your work pal not patching , doing the right thing at your expense , great stuff , keep safe pal and have a good week 🙏🙏👍
Got to do stuff right no point otherwise your the same john. The welsh wildebeest knicked my tea and biscuits today but got to have a laugh on site haven't you. Thanks John weekend approaching enjoy mate Justin 👍
Spot on work lads! Cant beet a bit of fairy 👌👌😁 bloody hate doing drainage especially clay to plastic and no matter how careful we are..always crack something and have to replace it😂 keep up the good work mate! Look forward to see the patio going down buddy!
What is the right height for that grid you have installed. My landscape gardener has installed new aco drains in the patio and has replaced the grid to a plastic as it was broken but he has raised the grid by about a flag's height. Would that be a problem?
Before I move on to the next part, I see the ACO drain is finishing at the gully, but I thought rainwater runoff from a patio had to go to a soakaway now buddy?
Its preferable Marcus. In this instance the ground sloped steeply to the house at the front. So its preferable to keep the water on site .if this isnt suitable then other alternatives can be used . If in dought check with the local water authorities
Sam without seeing it its difficult. The raft normally sits passed the perimeter brickwork. So sometimes the gully sits outside to raft for example maybe 150mm from the brick perimeter outside the raft .Other times they incorporate the gully inside the raft .if the later is the case its fine just more work if the gully needs replacing. Hope that makes sense to you Sam 👍
Hi Richard You can buy an add on for the bottom of the aco drain to connect into the main 4 inch pipe. Or we cut them straight into to side of the main back inlet gully 👍
Thanks mates. I’ve two of these to replace on gutter down pipes and I wasn’t sure about how to connect the pvc pipe to the old clay pipe. Sorted now.👍🏻😎
Your welcome Jon and good luck mate 👍
Great video. I need to sort exactly this for two at the rear of my property. Might be giving you a call!

Guinness Book of Records attempt at this house here to see how many complicated drainage gullies you can have in a very short side wall
Mike there is definitely a lot to contend with and all at different levels very time consuming work.
Justin 👍
Thanks chaps. Been wondering how to replace my 1930s blocked gulley for ages.
Quick question we’re they both back inlet gulleys you used?
Yes Robert basically they are rodable and have a water trap good luck 👍

We usually sit ours slightly lower than the paving but site conditions may dictate otherwise

What do I do if my clay gully is incorporated with a raft foundation

👍
Wish i had Tony's money mate and im better looking than Tony beets 🤣🤣🏴👍🏴
Probably a stupid question but do you not need to cement them in? Will they hold okay by just back filling them?
Can do either really sam👍
This may be a stupid question…but isn’t there a water level in the gully/pipe? Do you just dig out the gully straight away?
Sppt on Lorraine yes there is water in the gully .same as a toilet but yes just dig it out 👍
how do you connect the aco drain into the gully?
Hi Richard
