    I not sure if you know that when the Neewer 660 Pro RGB is run off the battery slots on the back of the lights it is running at only 7.2 volts as opposed to mains which is 12-15 volts. This means there is a reduction in power output of 20%. To solve this problem I've bought a dual NPF to V lock adaptor and connected it to the mains socket thus providing the full output via batteries.

    I love what GVM has produced here with their latest light panel releases and I have quite a few. However they haven't done the best job with naming. Just looking at the name you won't really have any idea of something like the light output. For example, going by GVM's stated specs, the 880RS lights here are 60w and produce 11,200lux at .5 meters. Then you have their 850D panels that are rated at 45w but produce 18,000 lux at .5 meters. The difference in light output coming from the lenses they put over the LEDs in the 850D I assume. Just wish their naming convention made a bit more sense which would help customers more easily choose the panel right for them when browsing all the different panels they produce.

      Hi Gerald. I agree and think the same way. It’s quite confusing.

    • @GeraldBertramPhotography
      @GeraldBertramPhotography 2 роки тому

      @@L4nd0z Do you mean between the 880RS and the 850D? If so the 850D would technically be brighter. Even though it has less of a power draw than the 880RS the lenses over the LEDs in the 850D help focus the light resulting in more measurable light output. What I haven't tested is if because of those lenses does the 850D produce a more narrow beam angle than the 880RS. My guess is going to be maybe but probably not enough to make any kind of major difference in real world applications.

      how does that translate with a softbox? And have you tested the 660 vs the 800 with the softbox in terms of measuring light output? Is the conclusion that the GVM800 gives 1 stop of additional output over the 660?

    Great Review! I would like to buy 2 of the GVM 880RS RGB LED for my Vlog at home. Would you recommend it or rather something else? Also checking the GVM 800D RGB LED which is probably not that much of a difference, right?

    • @ArtVideoProductions

      Thanks man. No, there’s a difference. The 800D is a 3-4 year old light and it’s a 40 watt panel. The 880RS is a 60 watt panel. If you use my links in the description, I’d appreciate it as it helps my channel and it doesn’t cost you a penny extra 😀
      Another set you’d probably would want to look at is the GVM 1500D which I recently reviewed, easy to find on the channel. Actually, here it is ua-cam.com/video/D0UK0v35ITM/v-deo.html

    What would you recommend for a key light under $400 USD? I want a nice high output key light and then I'm going to go with a couple RGB panels like these for fills/effects/atmosphere. So I would be prioritizing output over advanced features.

      You have many options with $400. A GVM P80S (less than $159! , 80 watts and comes with a softbox, bag and stand, plus accepts V mount option for $69,
      or a Godox VL-150 ($399)
      These are all COB, with Bowen’s mount.

      @@ArtVideoProductions In your review of the 850D you showed the 850D with the new Lens Type LED. So i'm assuming both should be be similar. On Amazon thhe specifications shows 850D to output 18000 lux at 0.5m. While the 1000D on Amazon is shown to output 15000 lux at 0.5m. So i'm confused why 850D with less LED beads with same Lens LED beads type is outputting more lux than the 1000D. The specs on GVM website is also very confusing. They have listed 1000D to output both 15000 and 19000lux at 0.5m.
