I am a fan of your flute tips videos, as they are very fun and helpful for people like me who play flute just for fun. In this specific video, I was glad to see SFSU campus since my wife got a master degree's (not music) from there 3 years ago and I had often went there to pick her up with my kids. Very lovely place.
Some days at my school, we would have an our of city football game to play at and the band and I would leave at four after school. so from 7am-3pm was school, then I usually walk to taco bell thats down the street from my school, and from 4pm1am is when our band was playing at the football game. The drive takes an hour or maybe even longer. so days like these, i don't get home until 2:30am. Over 19 hours away from home and doing stuff for school. Life's great lol.
This video was fun to watch! However, it is not (at least in my experience), an accurate depiction of a graduate flute performance major. Artist diploma, maybe. But for those of us who do still have coursework....the day is much more packed than this!! I'm in my final semester of an MM, and I have 2 classes, a weekly meeting about my thesis, orchestra, band, lessons, and I'm a TA so I also fit 9 flute major supplementary lessons into my schedule. A hectic life, but I absolutely love it! It must have felt good to finish that coursework and just focus on playing...lucky you!! :)
Haha, I had contemplated making this video earlier on in my master's, but it just wasn't possible to juggle video blogging with actually paying attention in classes and studying. 😉 Keep rocking on!!
I come back to this video every time and every time I replay it like 8 times because your day is literally my day when the semester is going on 😂😂😂 Btw, would you consider going back for an even higher degree????? Why would or wouldn't you?
So many questions :) 1.Where did you go for your Undergrads. and all that good stuff 2.What was that song you were playing at 10:35 3.Would you consider San Francisco State University a place excelling in Music Performance :D YAY questions!
I love your videos! thank you so much! I have really small hands and I am looking into new flute bodies for college. I was wondering what kind of gadgets you have on your flute to help with that.
In our junior high school and in the higher and lower levels we ALWAYS add the word “Ma’am” or “Sir” then the family name of the teacher or the first and family name of the teacher.
As a cellist, I am triggered: There are so much beautiful pieces for cello, SO WHY THE PRELUDE OF SUITE NO.1?!?!?! However, Amy is cute, so it's okaaaayyy! XD
I named my flute "lómelindi" that's the Sindarin word for "nightingale" on the LOTR saga... pretty nerdish and cheesy hehehe. I was really young XP In fact my first thought when I read "comment below what0s the name of your flute" was "why would I name my flute?" but the I remembered I actally did :D I also named my guitar Kathy; 'cos i was reading wuthering heights by that time... not too musical name And my piano has no name... I already figured out musical instruments don't come when you call them :P

Music school can be fun and rewarding, but could be an incredible waste of money. If you are looking to get a high paying job, choose a different major and just play music as a hobby.
What do you mean? We didn't know that tune was the omnipresent prelude to J.S. Bach's Unaccompanied Cello Suite no. 1. We're normal people, we swear!

so which music college did you attempt?
when you go to music school do you get many and a job when you graduate?
I think most musicians with degrees don't get exceptionally high paying jobs. The phrase "starving artist" is true for a reason lol.
Music school can be fun and rewarding, but could be an incredible waste of money. If you are looking to get a high paying job, choose a different major and just play music as a hobby.
Bach Cello suite no. 1-prelude Long name xD
Worst thing about music school is the musicians ? Is that the conclusion here.

I read online that in a master of music degree you need to play piano as well... Is that true?
Unless you get the credits waived because you have an equivalent or higher level certificate 😉
