never did an internship, we were supposed to at University but i didn't because I refused to work for free all summer(all the companies were not paying but wanting a finished project in the end) . i get why they exist, when you get a good company you can learn a lot, when you get a bad company/coworkers it can be a horrible experience.

That makes total sense! It’s a big hit or miss, especially with companies that don’t pay. I’ve only applied to a couple, not that many bc I don’t have a good portfolio to show off
