Regarding being embarrassed to ask question, there’s a Japanese saying that questioning is only a temporary embarrassment but not questioning is a lifetime of embarrassment. Learned it the hard way once and now I ask around if there’s something that I don’t understand aha. Edit: “Asking is a shame for a moment, not asking and remaining ignorant is an everlasting shame” is the more accurate translation.
I loved watching your old portfolio critique and job hunting vids, so seeing this update made me feel even more excited! Thank you for sharing your experiences and reflections 💖 They have been so helpful
Why not request them to be direct? I was in the Navy and people acted like those in charge were infallible. It's ok to set boundaries, and sometimes boundaries is being direct. I feel like if one starts a relationship even a professional one they shouldn't feel like they need to start with dishonesty. Maybe that's why I am facing so many challenges. I just feel like even lying in interviews is exhausting that's all, but again I am not having a great go of anything currently.
I feel like many people can relate to the story conveyed in the short comic you drew for this video. It really has a deep meaning and it's sad that most people are told they are ungrateful if they feel sad and that others have it worse. The fake smile at the end really hits home. Thank you once again for the helpful advice and personal experiences on storyboarding as well as the gorgeous art and incredible story behind it!!!💕💕💕
I'm fresh out of uni, and currently looking for work in Storyboarding. This was really helpful! espeshaly the bit about having good films in your back pocket. I know ill be okay when I get my first interview .
man.. this isnt relevant to the video topic the comic hits hard for me. im in my first year of high school and i was and still am struggling pretty badly. i would purposefully sleep through alarms and not go for weeks. im enrolled in online school now and im doing slightly better but my parents still are mad at me because “all kids have to go through it” and “youre causing us so much problems” and it just makes me want to not even try anymore.
Are you allow to switch roles in Animation? Maybe you push the drawing up, that studio limit the drawing level of storyboarding, that you float around.
Very insightful! I wasn't intending on doing storyboarding (though I'm open to it) but this is important knowledge to have regardless. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing! I feel more confident going into the career of story boarding! I do have one question, How did you get that awesome backdrop for your video? I tried googling it but I can’t seem to find how to do it.
I am such long artist drawing tons of comics and very fast (up to 10 panels full colored daily) and I did some animations and what I never understood-is storyboarding. I just don't get it. For me personally storyboard and even worse, writing down the whole concept beforehand is only a waste of time. I have it in my head and I'll go through each dialogue, each scene each spoken sentence over and over again like a movie until I think it fits. But thinking I would waste energy and ressources to put more into it for me personally it's nothing. And reason why I failed in university storyboard class and quit beforehand. Especially when working with a group or company it's even worse because they will never get your idea of how you exact want it. and if they demand different then if your heart is into it's even worse because you have to discard what you want. I get that for non freelancer who work for a company ( i saw some daily mangaka-routine) they need storyboard to send it away let it be checked and change it due to the client's liking. But for me personally I would die of heavy depression if I would be forced to do this xD

Ohh video suggestion: Mistakes I've made in learning storyboarding.
I really wanna learn storyboarding 😣
I'm feeling blessed having you here 🥲 love you 💖. Thanks a lot for this knowledge.

I always thought the director does most if not all the storyboards. According to Hayao Myazaki & Don Bluth behind the 'making of' anyway.
Same
It depends on the type of production!
Such great timing, I’ve been having a rough time with my storyboard class rn :’)
The captions keep telling me 'hello bishops'
Thank you🙏🏻💖
i learn so much from this, not only the stories and experience but the comic, composition and color . thank you so much!

You forgot to tell us stay awesome bishes🥺💔

Thank you so much💖💖
The favorate film or tv show question was kinda dumb. You could watch a bit of everything.
Good or bad films are defined individually by people. So it’s hard to say what are good films.
