    It does look quiet! :)

      It is! It doesn’t even feel you are in Rio, perfect for those who want to go out and explore the liveliness of the city but return to a quiet area to decompress, rinse and repeat :)

    Awesome Video with great insight. Is the area affordable?

      @tripsterpanda  8 місяців тому

      I guess it depends a lot on your income. It is not affordable for Brazilians, in fact one of the most expensive areas in Rio, but an American might find it affordable. Check on Quinto Andar real estate app to check the prices

    Awesome as always. Thank you so much. On a funny note, would you please move to Thailand post few review videos before my trip [ 11.24.23~12.10.23?

      😂😂😂😂 it is on my list! Maybe when I am able to actually make a living with UA-cam, I will consider! For Thailand, I really like “Retired Working 4 You” videos. He is a Canadian that has been living in Thailand for a while, so loads of great videos about the country, maybe it will help you :)

      @@tripsterpanda I have seen his posts, but I have found others who are much better than him. Any plans for Lima, Peru? That is on my March 2024 radar!

      Tbh, I don’t follow many youtubers from Thailand, I like him as he usually gives back to the community and I like some of his edits. There is also this one guy called Paddy, but I ended up not following what he is up to.
      In regards to Lima, I have been in Peru many years ago (some good 15 years back), but I don’t have plans on going back in the near future.
      I actually live in the UK, so I make my videos when I am in Brazil and there is just so much I want to see in Brazil I haven’t yet, that I don’t have plans for the foreseeable future to expand.
      But maybe I should? 👀

    It would give Paqueta Island a run at the safest neighborhood.

    • @tripsterpanda
      @tripsterpanda  6 місяців тому

      I think they are both very safe, since Paqueta is an island, so hard to do anything there and get away with it. And Urca is full of military people, as well as a single entry//exit, so not many people daring to do anything there. I like both of them, but if I were to live somewhere, I would choose Urca as it is better connected than Paqueta.

    Is that diwn the street from botofogo where the road curves and it dead ends at sugar loaf enterance? I thought that was all military and govnt facilities?

    • @tripsterpanda
      @tripsterpanda  8 місяців тому +2

      That is but the beginning of the neighborhood, and yes, mostly military facilities. A little before you reach that area (where you also have the entrance to the Sugarloaf), you will have one street turning left, that is where you can go into the actual neighborhood and why it is quiet and safe, there is only one way in and out.

      @@tripsterpanda ok then i was right. Was staying down the street in an apartment facing the street right where curves to the left going away from Sugarloaf so I was exactly right. Yeah I remember walking down there and thinking how quiet it was but I thought I saw a military academy so I just assumed it was some sort of Naval housing facility or something. Are the apartments their expensive to rent? Keep in mind I'm American

      They are some of the most expensive in Rio, because it is such a small neighborhood, many poeple hold on to their real estate and hardly ever sell, instead passing it on to the heirs. You can find apartments and houses, but there will be little offer and expensive (I would say something at the ballpark of $1 M USD or more). You can check an app called Quinto Andar for offers in the neighborhood to get a better sense of prices.
      Edit: sorry, i just realized you said rent. I think that would be affordable for an American. Even though easier than buying, there are still fewer options then other areas. If you want quiet and safe, Jardim Botanico is also an option. Very green and quiet, and as the name says, just behind the botanical garden

      In Portuguese the word "urca" means bear, in russian it means gangster
