- Perplexity is a next-gen search tool going after Google, with 1M Android app installs and 1M iOS installs within only 8 months of product launch. On this week’s episode of Unsupervised Learning, we sat down with the CEO and Co-Founder of Perplexity AI, Aravind Srinivas. Aravind shared with us the behind-the-scenes stories of how Perplexity AI was born (37:33), how he thinks about Perplexity being viewed as a "wrapper" (24:15), where search will be in 10 years (23:22), and where Perplexity is headed.

I've learned from this video that I'm not the only one who stares blankly and nods his head approvingly when someone says something at a level of complexity I can't grasp. I see others find that tactic useful too!
Perplexity has already replaced 90% of my Google/GPT-4/Wikipedia usage. Hall of fame company.
No it hasn’t it’s not even known outside saavy or academia settings

Who?

@@Levnerad Yes the app is trash, I prefer to get 5 ads for U-Haul when I google "toothpaste."
Aravind is super smart and the 2 interviewers look like - they're getting a therapy session :D
I’m using perplexity every day and it is wonderful
Absolutely fascinating - I just love the innate ability of leaders like Aravind to switch between vastly disparate domains, such as leading engineering teams, business, corporate, and deep neural networks.
23:22 i don't think search is only about answer. i checked my google history and
Great discussion! I enjoyed Aravind's perspective on product development and the future of AI.
I just added perplexity as my default search engine. it is badass so far
Terminology is daunting for beginners. VC, wrappers and a few more. All in good time. Consider the new people to the channel listening. Drop a short definition in the conversation. Engagement is a result of education that works. Good luck guys!
Just found this channel - this is great insight! Rooting for your pods success!
This concept of 3-5 years out we will have AI that can decently clone the personality of a family member, or even book character - and making more personalized AI interactions will absolutely revolution movies, games and entertainment - finally - a customized HomeAssistant integrated Jarvis that can have the voice of megatron but tell me when my door opens or when it’s going to rain
Thank you for your support! Our goal is to have conversations with the top people in AI and leave listeners with actual tactics for how to go to market and deploy AI products. Please consider subscribing so you don't miss out on some great upcoming guests!
But he is Indian tech scammer
@@davedavedave4 That’s what your pops says to be not to be egoistic when one brown fella grows to reach at top to become the top most people in fortune top companies and US president contender. Cry baby😂😅😅
I enjoed this interview a lot - mind blowing answers from well written questions.
Loved this podcast. All three top cloud providers have moved away from gpu by developing their own asic for genAI. A show that covers such hardware would be useful.
Great podcast. It adds a lot of value to the future AI company CTOs
this dude is a genius
Use it since a week and love it
Started using perplexity in place of gpt and it is miles ahead, gives much better answers for the same query.
Perplexity by itself a wrapper around GPT or other models
well done.
Great UX 👌
Yikes cool it with the zooms! We watching in 2x and it’s hectic!! Love content tho. This dude goes hard.
😂😂😂
Is perplexity ai, a large scale RAG with web pages as the knowledge base?
shitt! I will be looking forward for perplexity! super invested! they are gonna do bigg!!!
It's nice app I am using it
❤
I don’t see the difference between this product and Bing/Gpt-4.
What problem is solved it? Are you claiming that your model is better ? Is the UX better ?
creating your parents in VR/AI world.
I want an AI that can be trained to learn anything just by prompting it. In short I want a "Jarvis" like AI.
wow
At 1.30, Those were 4 points and not 5
Ask him anything, his answer is that “it should be done they way he did or the way his company is doing”
He is one of the founders. Get it right
Comments are all fake 😅
the editor had waaaayyy to much coffee
Hahaha i see what you mean 😂
Google already has a gen ai output with its search
Chatbot about parents (I am stories A/V),past 6months
I prefer perplexity than Gemini or Chat GPT.
He is building the next Tesla.
Am from the future. Am here in past to research the history of Google. It doesn't exist there
Geek.
started using perplexity when they started out, liked it but the website's UI is really bad
Is this a paid episode?
38 people in people perplexity are more intelligent than multi billion dollar company like Google.🙄
Why would anyone create a website if this guy has his way. If no one creates a web site, who will these bots steel content from?
I tried Perplexity. It's painfully bad. It confuses simple questions. I asked if Perplexity uses Chat GPT and it responded no it doesn't use ChatCPT it uses OpenAI's ChatGPT 3.0 model. The thing he's talking about, which is providing correct answers without perfect questions is exactly what it is failing spectacularly at. It's success is fully dependant on OpenAI, not Perplexity.
🤦
Yup the saddest hype I have seen lately. Looks like a pump and dump scheme.
Perplexity uses their own pplx-online models, they have a variety of models for you to use, their copilot feature is a GPT-3.5 fine-tune
Welcome to the state of affairs. We have a cottage industry of AI products.
Exactly. Perplexity lacks if the prompt requires logics. I mean if the question is not perfect. ChatGPT deals with this issue way better.
I think Perplexity is just a diversion weapon against google.
Idk. Lacks personality and the answers are about the same as a google search so I don’t see much of a party going on here
Bruh, you are going to be kidding us, but dig deeper into the now AI, do not be left behind 😂
I will be impressed if this unknown startup doesn’t go bankrupt in 2 years!!! 😢😢😢😢
This man spoilt his Indian accent and also didn't pick up good American accent. 🥲
overhyped.. its jst a wrapper on top of gpt and using existing webindex with no concrete innovation goals.
@abhi9838855705 Do you think Google will just implement their AI? It seems like that would be their next step to remain competitive.
