Riley, I'm super glad to have found your content. I would love if you could touch on issues around "dead internet" or even how SEO is killing/has killed content. If Perplexity is only using top sites and top ranking sites are devoid of true wealth/depth/breadth of information, then won't our knowledge building be severely compromised? Thanks in advance and looking forward to binging your stuff. @rileybrownai
Hopefully you get what I mean. Furthermore, if content creation is now driven by these types of AI then we get this maddening hall of mirrors where information is ad infinitum lost...

Okay, this is pretty cool. Thanks for sharing. The primary use case I see for the layperson is better internet searching when you're trying to look for a specific answer. I do this all the time IE: trying to find out how to do a given mission in a game, or how to use a certain feature of a complicated program. ChatGPT 4 can do the same thing, but you have to pay for that to get internet access.

I asked Gemini Advanced to check your points, and here is its response
1-Real-time information: Perplexity does use the internet to access and process information, but it is not clear how much more effective it is than other similar tools. Additionally, the accuracy of its responses depends on the accuracy of the information it finds online.
2-Awareness: Perplexity can process and understand tweets and other real-time content, but it is important to remember that this information can be biased and inaccurate. It is important to critically evaluate any information that Perplexity provides.
3-Organization and collections: Perplexity does allow users to create collections of information and customize prompts for each collection. This can be helpful for organizing research and creating content, but it is important to note that Perplexity is not a perfect tool and may not always be able to understand the nuances of your requests.
4-Content synthesis: Perplexity can synthesize information from different sources to create new content, but it is important to remember that the quality of the output will depend on the quality of the input. If you provide Perplexity with inaccurate or biased information, it will likely produce inaccurate or biased content.
5-Integration with other tools: Perplexity can be integrated with other tools, but this does not necessarily make it more versatile than other similar tools. Ultimately, the best tool for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences.

I use Perplexity. But it doesn't substitute ChatGPT. The ChatGPT can remember and continue conversation. Perplexity is confused if a prompt is just a part of the previous conversation. It doesn't connect previous conversation to a new prompt if it has to guess.

you can make many more statistically significant predictions about your character, based on this comment. I hope you get over the deep resentment you are feeling in life. I'm here if you need anything.

I run into issues with perplexity when dealing with complex tasks, desired longer output and longer input. Although it helped me to get started with my python project, once it reached like 300 lines, difficulties occured. Such as it not being able to give me more than around 100 lines of code. If I upload my 1500 lines gui Programm Code it basically only says "this is a extensive programm" and doesn't give me much help. Which is okay, because through that I learned to actually go by chunks and truly understand what I'm doing.

Perplexity has the same downsides as all other AI, for instance if you ask it to research which is better between Gemini Ultra and GPT-4 Turbo, it falsely answers that Gemini Ultra is better and that GPT-4 has 175billion parameters when on both accounts these are wrong, with GPT-4T using at least 1.7 trillion parameters, as well as GPT-4 Turbo having beaten GU on "every" aspect with medprompting... This is documented on the web but it seems to ignore that unless you correct it yourself. GPT-4 Turbo on its own is a heck of a lot better than this is on copilot mode when you sub to Copilot Plus.

Doesn't Perplexity have one huge ommission? As far as I know it can't read webpages but only search result pages. That limits it's knowledge considerably. ChatGPT can browse and summarize or extract info from webpages, Perplexity can't, as far as I know.

I started messing around with Perplexity today and it had no problem summarizing what was on a web page when I passed in the URL with the prompt.

@@Noah-wt9mnok that's not how I used it. I used it to gather a consensus of the different search results on a topic based on what those pages had written. It then told me it can only read the search result snippets, not the actual pages linked from there.
